• If Mathias is a native-son Welshman who can speak and understand Welsh, how is it he has never heard of the Devil's Bridge story or the "Salem" painting and the face?
  • Not every Welsh person or Welsh speaker knows every myth from Welsh history, especially local myths.
  • Also, its exposition used for the benefit of the audience who may not know of the story behind it.

• How is Alys Thomas' body able to remain perfectly upright? Not only seeing as she's dead, but with the wind constantly whipping across the marshes.

• If Dic Rees didn't know about Lowri's infidelity, why did he get involved in the plot with Tommy and Gwilam?

• How hell does Owen manage to know so many dark secrets about everyone else? Including Powell, who was shipped in from from out of town. The only people that know about the full history between Mared and Powell are Mared, Powell, and somehow, Owen.
