Funny / Monkey King: Quest for The Sutra

• Interestingly, the bulk of the show's funny moments centers around Zhu Bajie despite Sun Wukong being the main character in a comedy show. One could argue that Wukong is the Straight Man to the buffoonish Zhu Bajie.
  • When Marshall Tianpeng was reincarnated as a pig by mistake, an apologetic Zimei fed him a magical pill that would eventually restore his powers (making him Zhu Bajie). To Tianpeng's dismay, he learnt that would take at least a hundred years, so during that time he had to stay in pig form.
  • Zhu Bajie's initial encounter with Sun Wukong when the latter was hunting him down.
    • Bajie brandished his weapon and engaged in trash-talk with Wukong, essentially telling Wukong to "bring it on". Wukong started doing his warm-ups with his nunchakus. The scene cuts to Bajie crying foul, revealing that Wukong's "warm-up" left his face badly bruised.
  • Some of Bajie's comedic moments, be it intentional or not, are the ones that are in stark contrast to the nature of his character:
    • Zhu Bajie's eventual end to his relationship with the Spider Demoness after he found out that she never loved him and only used him to attempt to eat the Tang Monk. Upon attempts by Wukong and Wujing to comfort him, he became angry again and screams out loud that he "hates women" and he "will never love a woman again".
    • Similar point to above was when Bajie had his baby daughter aborted (He unknowingly drank from the waters that impregnate people), and like some post-abortion women do, fell into a depression and refused to eat. Bajie of all people, refusing to eat and needing Wukong and Wujing to (attempt to) force-feed him.
    • In the ending, Zhu Bajie (who was supposed to be the most worldly disciple in this pilgrimage) ended up with no more romantic inclinations towards anybody while Wukong and Wujing still cannot get rid of their love problems.
