The Armorer tells Din Djarin that he must care for The Child until it can be reunited with its own kind, or until it comes of age. Given the nature of its species, The Child will probably take at least a hundred years to come of age, by which time Din will be dead.
The Armorer has no way of knowing this, as she was not told about the age of the child, nor does she know anything about his species.
