Fridge / Better Call Saul S5 E9: "Bad Choice Road"

Go To

  • Fridge Brilliance:
    • When Lalo is asking Jimmy to tell him what happened again and again and again, it's not just to intimidate him, it's actually a very common interrogation technique. A liar usually has a story prepared, and if they're told to repeat it, they'll often either repeat the exact same account they memorized, word for word, or they'll trip up and start contradicting themselves. Lalo is genuinely trying to suss out whether Jimmy is telling him the truth. It doesn't work on Jimmy, because he's an exceptional liar, with the ability to tell the same story, using different words and mentioning different details, but without ever getting caught in inconsistencies. And he can do it on the fly, under tremendous pressure.
    • Mike talking about bad choices putting you on a road is pretty insightful, given the only reason Jimmy is involved with the Cartel now is because of the first bad decision he made in the series, trying to con the Kettlemans.
