His being the first villain in the series to [[spoiler:kill a character]] did indeed make him the darkest villain by that point. Had the films continued, from that point on, things would be much more dramatic. Unfortunately, the rest of the film series being canceled means this was never followed through on.

* AdaptedOut: Thanks to Creator/SonyPictures not having the film rights to the other Creator/MarvelComics properties, none of the known Marvel characters aside from Spider-Man and his related characters exist in this universe.
