TEG 2 Chapter 8: If At First You Don't Succeed, Post It Twice

Written By: Thomas
Proofread By: Anonymousnote
POV: Third person
Deaths: Euripides (1, in spite of the repeated events)

The events of the chapter are repeated twice, once with completely incomprehensible spelling and another time with poor spelling. I was planning on doing something similar with this entry, but for liveblogs having a requirement for proper spelling and grammar, and the fact that it would be confusing. So here's one summary of this chapter's events, with my commentary, spelled to the best of my ability the first time.

The chapter begins with Jesus saying that we will return to the "torrent" characters (a word that's used in both versions and doesn't make sense in either) back at the camp, and Jerry is eager to begin.

The chapter begins with Luke going to get his Table so they can all read it, while Piper "traps" her fingers (which makes me think of a finger trap). Luke comes back before long on his bike, and says that the camp is under attack. He says they must fight bravely, but in a non-sexual way (in the first version, it's pointed out that Luke and Piper are not going out, a bit like what happened with Jerry and Mary at the very beginning).

Luke takes Piper up to a safe place. In an extremely confusing part that I can't quite understand even with the help of both versions, it's said that was the place where Hades, before being killed in Part 1(which happened) captured Thalia(which never happened). Piper feels a bit lonely, but Chiron, in a non-sexual way assures her that she will be fine.

Luke comes back with a still living body in a bag. He reveals that it's the false god Euripides, who was responsible for sneaking into camp with an army, and whom they hope will suffer. They kill him by hanging him from the tree where Thalia was trapped; while I'm against the death penalty, I notice that hanging seems relatively humane as far as Prayer Warrior punishments go, compared to being dropped from a height, stoned to death and beheaded(Mary), impaled and burned alive (Idiosy), cut to pieces and fed to a dog (Benry) or burned alive with napalm (Socrates). Euripides dies very quickly, possibly of a broken neck].

Clarisse and Jerry return from Russia, announcing that they're here to help and that Ebony and Michael went into retirement. They bury the bodies.

The proofreader says that it was a good chapter with lots of action, and claims that he removed all the spelling errors.

Next Installment: The Prayer Warriors pick up a new friend on the road and meet up with an old ally.
