Episode 6: I'll Beat You, and Beat You Good

(That doesn't sound violent in anyway shape or form)

“Wel-” Wait, Igor isn't here. It's only Margaret. She congratulates Yu on getting the Moon and Strength Arcana. She remarks Yu that that's all...but she wonders if he likes it more if Igor is away. Empress Social Link...?

Opening.

The rumors are spreading about a freshman student who beat up an entire biker gang on his own and became the leader and even got interviewed on TV. Cut to him in school, where this biker king overhears those rumors...and scares them off. But lo, a little cut bunny rabbit keychain is left behind! And is picked up by none other than Yu. This feared student quickly swipes it away from the ever stoic Yu.

Monday the 2nd. Rainy. But that evening in the Dojima residence, Dojima calls the house from work saying that he'll be in late and telling Yu that he won't be able to take the days off since one of the rookies got sick and the case can't be dropped. So no family vacation time.

Anyway, next day, Chie asks Yu to hang out with her the next day, saying she'll invite Yukiko and Yosuke if they have to. Yu refuses as he needs to look after Nanako. However, Chie invites her along and Yu encourages her. Junes for us, where Nanako gets the steak. Yosuke wonders why the heck they are hanging at Junes when Chie remind him there's nowhere else to go. Anyway Junes jingle comes on and Nanako sings along and says she loves Junes.

And I LOVE NANAKO!, thinks the overly happy Yosuke, who's pleased that someone likes this place. Nanako mentions that Yu was to make a picnic lunch for them. Chie thinks that cool for a “big bro” to help out. Anyway, Yosuke makes the remark that Yu is already one-up on Chie's cooking skills causing her to get mad and challenge Yosuke for a cook-off. Oh no. It begins. Anyway, Nanako is made judge and Yosuke bets they could make something better than her mom. Nanako tells them her Mom died in an accident. Awkward. Yosuke apologizes but Nanako says it's fine as he didn't know and besides she has her Dad. And now, a big brother! The team then swears their fealty to Lord Nanako and says they are her servants for- all right all right. They just say that they will play with her whenever they want.

Thursday the 5 th. Sunny. Dojima is finally home that evening. He apologizes for not being there, but Nanako says her “big bro” played with her all day. No he didn't, he went to Junes and then visited the shrine. Oh wait, anime. Nanako notices a bag and Dojima says he got gifts for Children's Day. A t-shirt for Nanako and a rather...interesting set of swimming trunks for Yu. These are much more embarrassing than what we had in-game. NOMS TIME!

Friday the 6 th. Cloudy. Cramming for finals. But the group does ponder the cases for a bit and notices nothing happened during Golden Week. Because the game wanted to give you a break before exams. Anyway, they figured that the culprit is targeting women to Ms. Yamano. And Yukiko recalls someone ringing the doorbell. And Yu points out that the Midnight Channel and remarks they should keep watching.

EXAMS! We get to see Yosuke and Chie struggle through them while Yukiko and Yu do fine. As usual. That evening, a show about biker gangs and a certain Kanji Tatsumi. A regular brawler. And the next night, we see him on the Midnight Channel. Vaguely.

Commercial break! Yu's knowledge is average. He'll do okay in the exams if he got everything right but not score topping. Passing at least. -ahem- Understanding has bumped up to kindly and everything else is the same.

Junes, the Investigation Team ponders Kanji being on the victim. Yukiko remembers Kanji when he was younger and he was not like that. The Amagi Inn sells their stuff so she is familiar with him but hasn't spoken with him in forever. To Tatsumi Textiles. And hello, strange blue-dressed boy. Who sounds like a boy, actually. Wait, -cough cough- And don't give us the Red Herring status anime, this guy is on the opening, I'm sure he's okay. Anyway, Kanji's not around and Yu finds a scarf similar to the one in the weird room. Mrs. Tatsumi explains that it was a special order for Ms. Yamado. Also delivery to the Tastumi's. Make note.

As the Team leaves the shop, they see guy-in-blue talk to Kanji. Finding him interesting he asks Kanji to meet him after school. Confusing the heck out of Kanji. Anyway, he spots the group and yells at them to beat it. Yosuke then suggests that they keep an eye on the Textile shop and and Yukiko. Also, Yukiko evades getting Yosuke's number.

Kanji awaits the strange guy after school. Yosuke and Chie split up to tail Kanji while Yu and Yukiko keep an eye at the shop. Yukiko admits to Yu she's a bit scared waiting for the culprit but she admits that she wants to help out anyway she can. Yu tries to tell her to not stress so much. The killer might not even show up here. But it's not waiting, it's more of being alone with a guy. She notes that Chie has no problems hanging out with guys and says that she seems to have more fun hanging around with Yosuke and Yu. She admits, while blushing, that the same is true for her. She bashfully says she's just making things awkward. She tries calling Chie but her line was busy. Yu asks her for her phone number...for the investigation, of course.

Anyway, Yosuke and Chie do their recon and talking into their cell phones...even though they are a few feet away. Also, Chie mentions she's hungry and Yosuke tells her that Aiya will deliver anywhere. Chie immediately orders two orders of Mikoduan for her. And in this time, Kanji takes note of them. And asks what they are doing. Yosuke just says they are a couple passing by, much to the anger of Chie. Kanji notes he saw them yesterday. Chie blabs that no, they didn't and of course they don't think Kanji is gay. Cue running away time! Though Kanji is more flustered than anything else. Yu and Yukiko join them in their running. Why? I don't know but they do. Also delivery in the middle of a chase scene! “This is just weird!” You and me both, Yosuke.

They finally lost him. And the meat's delicious. Yosuke tells the group they are done for the day, with Yu saying that they should still keep an eye on him. Chie wonders where she should put the empty bowls.

Closing. Priestess Social Link get!

Bonds of People is True Power

That night, on a dark and rainy night. The sexophone plays. “Good evening darlings! Today we are going to transcend the gender barrier and seek the most sublime love there is, my sweets. I will lead you on this journey! Mwa~ I am Kanji Tatsumi, darlings~”

Yu: “...no way.”

Thoughts on the episode: It's the story before the next dungeon! Oh, and uh, Golden Week. It's all nice and good but once again, it sticks to the game so much that I'm a bit bored. Still Akia's delivery is still quite a humorous touch. And now I guess mikoduan is just the beef bowl. Works.

ON THE NEXT: Kanji's dungeon. This is gonna be painful.
