Feros is surprsingly short if you skip as much content as I skipped.
Feros is a backwater human colony that is suddenly attacked by the geth. Fail Shep and co arrive at the spaceport city, Zhu's Hope and are asked by the city's leader, Fai Dan, to fight back a geth attack. After Fail Shep forces the geth to fall back, Fai Dan tells him that the geth are using the headquarters of ExoGeni, the company that owns the colony, as a base. Fai Dan wants Fail Shep to help repair the colony, but our hero doesn't have time for busy work when the galaxy is at stake.
On the way to ExoGeni headquarters, Fail Shep intercepts a transmission from some other colonists. Fail Shep decides to ignore the transmission.
Fail Shep and co. reach ExoGeni headquarters, where they rescue a scientist and learn that the geth are after a sentient plan called the Thorian, which is mind controlling the colonists at Zhu's Hope.
On the way back to Zhu's Hope to confront the Thorian, Fail Shep is forced by a door that won't open to investigate the transmissions he ignored earlier. Fail Shep finds the colonists being held hostage by an Obstructive Bureaucrat named Ethan Jeong. Fail Shep kills Jeong. The colonists give Fail Shep gas grenades to knock out the Thorian-controlled colonists, but our hero "accidentally" converts the grenades to omni-gel.
Fail Shep kills the Thorian-controlled colonists, Fai Dan commits suicide so the Thorian won't force him to kill Fail Shep and Fail Shep kills the Thorian. Killing the Thorian releases Shiala, an asari minion of Saren's, who reveals that Saren was after the Thorian because it possessed a Cipher which would allow him to understand Prothean beacons. Fortunately, the asari has a copy of the Cipher, which she transfers to Fail Shep via the Mass Effect equivalent of the Mind Meld.
With so many people dead, ExoGeni abandons Feros. Fail Shep's squadmates again urge him to find Liara. Fail Shep agrees with them this time, but the Council suddenly contacts him with information that Saren is up to something on the planet Virmire.
