Oblivious Assassination

Luckily, Miss Bellamoundes problems are solved when its revealed the Empreror, who not only knows she's a convicted criminal, but has only known her for all of five minutes, decides he can trust her not to do it again. Romana is really glad this guy is her ruler.

He then decides he needs to get to know Miss Bellamounde better, and asks her for her birth sign. She tells him Atronach, and then he says more emo stuff about death and the divines.

His little anecdote about death complete, they continue on, and Miss Bellamounde is given the important job of torch carrier. She feels very important. More assassins attack, proving that this has to be the worst secret tunnel that has ever exsisted, and then the lackies run off to protect some gate that was locked, leaving the Emperor alone with our weaponless heroine. Nice move guys.

More assassins appear, and one of them attacks the Emperor, mainly because Romana couldn't get a clear shot. The Emperor falls over, and Romana finally gets the final assassin. With his dying words, the Emperor gifts Romana with his amulet, which she promises to bring to his long lost child.

Lackey number one comes back, momentarily inspects the Emprerors cadaver, then tells Romana to go visit some monk, via some sewers. He then cleverly deduces she's a Mage (What gave it away? The spells?), somehow teaches Miss Bellamounde a bunch of spells, then sends her on her way, into some damp, musky sewers. What a gentleman.

She traverses through the sewers, which is home to a few rats and goblins, who are dispatched with the usual method. While on the way out, she starts thumbing through the spell books Lackey number one gave her, and discovers a "skeletal summon" spell. She casts it, and, surprisingly enough, a skeleton appears. Deciding to go with the ominous name of "Derek", Miss Bellamounde banishes him for now, and exits the dank sewers, where she's met with quite a surprise.

It appears that she's not in High Rock anymore.
