In which Shinjiro is awesome

And once again we return. Last time we beat up a whole bunch of Shadows and further confirmed that Kazushi is a bit of a moron. Now, let's get back to the action!

We don't have a whole lot in terms of plot before school, so I decide to drop by the library for a bit of study. After all, I get the feeling that the evening will have plenty of things to pad this update with and I don't want this thing getting gargantuan. After that, we cut to Junpei, Yukari and Minato about to head off from the dorm. Junpei still has reservations, but it's the only way to get the plot moving. Junpei once again proves his abundance of common sense, pointing out that this is kind of a terrible idea due to the fact that, y'know, A BUNCH OF THUGS HANG OUT THERE. I feel ya, man, I really do. Alas, we really don't have a choice in the matter, so we reluctantly tag along. As we wander into the place, it becomes abundantly clear that we do not belong here. From the dark, seedy look to the slightly unnerving music, this place does its level best to give off an air of hostility. One of the punks loitering around (no, seriously, that's what the game calls the NPC) stops us, telling us in non-too-subtle terms that we really shouldn't be here. Couldn't agree more, let's go!

However, Yukari is having none of their jive nonsense and promptly tells them to get out of our faces. Of course, she does this while hiding behind me, so this lessens the intimidation factor... And then she goes and calls them "scum". Okay Junpei, let's go! There's no hope for Yukari now anyway. This, unsurprisingly, angers the punks and "touch chicks", who immediately decide to get violent. I swear to Mara, if I have to summon Pyro Jack and bust some heads... One of the punks punches Minato, then attempts to rough us up. However, just before he can do anything, a familiar voice halts the punks in their tracks. Oh hey, it's the guy from the hospital! Hey there, cutout-man! Oh, I like this man. He quickly and easily HEADBUTTS the main punk without breaking a sweat. This man is amazing. One of the other punks finally reveals the man's name. Shinjiro, huh? Interesting name.Shinjiro once again proves that he has more balls than your average krogan by managing to out-intimidate the same punk that he headbutted. Good cut-out. Best character.

The crowd disperses, leaving us alone with Shinjiro the Great. He... then proceeds to chew us out. Yeah, we kinda deserved that, I'll admit. He asks if Akihiko sent us here. I'm guessing those two have a history of sorts. We respond truthfully that he didn't, which seems to make him feel a bit more inclined to talk. Yay? As it turns out, he knows we're here about the ghost story. Curiouser and curiouser. Apparently the girls in the hospital were bragging about bullying Fuuka, so I find it hard to muster any kind of sympathy for them. It... also seems that Fuuka has disappeared. Oh, that's not good. That's not good at all. So close to the Full Moon as well... And here we thought she was sick. Well now, that makes things interesting. Shinjiro gives us another cryptic clue about his connection with Akihiko, then warns us not to come back to that place again. Duly noted, dude. Didn't have any intention of coming back anyway.

With that we're dumped back in the dorm, somewhat wiser than we were before, but still left with more questions than answers. I get the feeling that not knowing things is going to be a common theme for this game. Anyway, since we still have the evening to ourselves, I decide to go to Tartarus to see if I can't get that Lead Medal. No, I'm not going to give up on that. Not yet, anyway. Our first golden shadow... flees pretty much immediately, mostly because it caught me by surprise. The second attempt also proves unsuccessful, since I didn't get perfectly behind it in order to smack it down. By the 11th floor I start to get a bit antsy. Not one to be put off, however, I keep on searching, much to the dismay of my sanity and probably whoever's reading this. Sorry. Ah well, at least it's rather amusing to see all the Shadows fleeing in blind terror every time I come near. Also easily destroying one or two of them every now and then to appease the Reaper. Of course, it's not all bad. In one of the rare chests, I discover the Shirt of Chivalary, which... turns me into some sort of feudal era Japanese guy. Neat, I guess. I figure we'll keep it on for now and give Junpei what we wore before. So, that's two sets of High Cut Armour, one Shirt of Chivalry... I swear we are going to be the most ridiculous looking team of shadow slayers ever by the time I'm done.

Alas, that seems to be the extent of our luck, since I don't even find another golden shadow in my second run. Ah well, worth a shot. I'll call it an update for now and see about getting back to you with the FULL MOON later on today. If not, definitely tomorrow. See you all then!

Yes, "not knowing things" is a constant in this game. Even the final scene of The Journey can be considered ambiguous, despite that being the end of the original P3.
