Go To

OK, we'll keep the same party for now. We continue down to B12. This area is like the Sylph Cave or Passage of the Eidolons, but purple.

There are two paths here, east and west. Let's start with west. Heading as far southwest as we can gets us the White Tiger Mask, which protects against Paralyze. We can see a building in the north with a door under it. We head in and head up. There's a Save Point here, with no cutscene, which I need, because I've been back attacked by every damn enemy on the way here.

Upstairs and outside, is an old man. I can guess who this is.

Rydia: My lord! What are you doing here?

Eidolon King: ...

Rydia: My lord?

Leviathan attacks us.

Rosa: I knew it... He's fallen to the enemy!

Rydia: Please, my lord! Wake up!

Kain: Can't he hear us?

First step, Slow. Rydia and Golbez use Thundaga, Ceodore and Kain attack and Rosa waits for Leviathan to attack and then heals everyone up. Leviathan's only got two attacks, Tidal Wave and Blizzaga, and Rydia's Thundaga really hurts, so he surrenders quickly enough.

Eidolon King: Ry... Rydi... a... !

Rydia learns Quake after the battle.

Rydia: My lord!?

Eidolon King: ...Rydia! Oh, my sweet, cherished Rydia!

Rydia: You're back!

Eidolon King: Please forgive me, Rydia. So many Eidolons forced into agony because I lacked the power to help them...

Rydia: It doesn't matter now, my lord... not now that you have returned!

Eidolon King: I couldn't have done it without you, Rydia... my beloved daughter!

Rydia: Thank you, my lord!

Eidolon King: We cannot leave our world victim to their whims a moment longer. From now on, my powers shall be with you forevermore.

Rydia gets the Leviathan summon. If you didn't bring Rydia, you don't get him. He also leaves behind a treasure chest, containing the Mystic Whip. This is just a plain old whip, really powerful, can Paralyze, nothing beyond what's normal for a whip.

We head outside to the east. This puts us on the eastern path from earlier. There's another building and Save Point here. A woman is outside. Her identity should be another easy guess.

Rydia: Your Majesty! Oh, thank heavens you're safe...

Queen: ...

Rydia: Your Majesty?

Asura attacks us.

Rosa: W-wait a second!

Kain: It's no use! She's under the control of that girl!

Rydia: My queen! Please, stop this!

As Asura mainly relies on counters to deal damage, Slow isn't important on her. Reflect, on the other hand, will screw over her healing, and Blink on the back row should negate the worst of her physicals.

As we have Reflect on her, Rydia will need to summon. Leviathan works pretty well on her. After a while...

Eidolon King: Asura!

Queen: ...

Eidolon King: It is I! Can you not see!?

Queen: !

She attacks Leviathan.

Eidolon King: Open your eyes! Can you not see to whom you aim your rage!?

He unleashes a Tidal Wave on her.

Eidolon King: Remember the days spent with our dear child!

Queen: Our... child?

Rydia: Please, my queen! Open your eyes!

Leviathan is dismissed and the battle continues. Asura's counters are starting to really hurt, and she doesn't only do it as a counter. Screw Blink, it's time to spam Curaja.

Queen: Ry... dia!

Looks like we got her. Golbez learns Flare after the battle.

Rydia: Your Majesty!

Queen: Rydia...

Rydia: Oh, thank goodness! You recognize me!

Queen: I am sorry, Rydia... Thanks to the will of you and my husband, I finally managed to escape the clutches of that evil girl.

Rydia: I'm so happy to see you again!

Queen: I apologize, Rydia... The way that I chased you out from the Feymarch...

Rydia: No... Don't blame yourself. You were only trying to do what was best for me. I understand that now.

Queen: Oh, Rydia... I've wanted for so long to see you again.

Rydia: Your Majesty...

Queen: From now on, I shall always be together with you. Feel free to call upon me whenever you please.

Rydia: Y-yes, my queen!

Rydia gets the Asura summon, and Asura leaves behind a treasure chest. This one contains the Minerva Bustier. This is a very strong piece of armour for women, and gives protection against Paralyze, but completely wrecks the magic stats. It's pretty much built for Luca.

We backtrack to where there was a door heading to each building. There's also a door to the north. This takes us to B13, an area that looks quite like to Lunar Core. There's a Save Point here, and there's where we're stopping for now.

There is one slot open for the next update, however, I don't want to say who's coming. So just pick a character, any character. Of the four that are coming, we'll have plenty of healing, so it's probably better to avoid a white mage or Edward. Black Magic availability should also be fine. See you next time.

I vote for Yang.

Also, why did they exile Rydia? Was that ever explained?

I do not remember if they ever explain it.

Wow. So the whole start of Rydia's story in this is just left unexplained? That is just sad.

The Mystic Whip is "just some whip"? Bull, it has the same Intelligence boost as the high-end Rods. As many Whips D Ecrease Intelligence, that's fairly nice, and if you're using Palom or Leonora alongside Rydia for whatever reason, it frees up a Rod for them.

By this point you're getting tons of stat boost in your important stats (except for Minerva Bustier on anyone but Luca and maybe Ursula, dunno what exactly Chakra scales on but I'm guessing Spirit), it doesn't particularly matter what boosts what.

The obvious reason why Rydia is locked out of the Feymarch is that they don't want her aging to death before she can guarantee the next generation of summoners in the physical world.
