It's time to get started on the final Tale, The Crystals. This is a merger of what in the original version was three tales; The Gathering Tale, Final Tale, Part One and Final Tale, Part Two. Yep, we're in endgame now. Kinda. First, we have to import data from every previous Tale except Ceodore's. So we now have a purpose for getting Ceodore, Rosa, Kain and Cid to level 50, Golbez to level 45 and everyone else to level 40. Let's begin.

We start at the end of Edge's Tale.

Edge: Huh!? Where did you come from!?

Man in Black: !

For some reason, probably because you don't have to have played The Lunarian's Tale in the original and Wii versions of the game (You have to in this version, because The Crystals are only available once The Lunarian's Tale has been cleared), Golbez is not referred to by name until later. As we already know who he is and Golbez is quicker to type, I'll refer to him as such.

Anyway, we cut to Agart's observatory.

Corio: What in blazes!?

Apprentice: What is it, sir?

Corio: Meteors! Falling toward us from the moon!

In Damcyan...

Soldier: Trouble, my lord!

Chancellor: What is it?

Soldiers: Meteors are bombarding the land! Countless waves of them!

Chancellor: What!?

Harley: King Edward!

In Fabul...

Chancellor: Oh, what will become of us!?

Duke Consort: Calm down, Chancellor! We cannot afford to lose our heads!

Sheila: She's right! We've gotta maintain control of ourselves until Yang comes back with Ursula!

Back in Agart...

Corio: I... I cannot believe this.

Apprentice: What now, sir?

Corio: The moon! It's... it's falling!

Oh, oh no. The world is quite a lot dimmer than usual, and is covered in small meteor craters.

In Eblan...

Soldier: What in the world!?

Seneschal: Young Highness!

The Falcon emerges from the Underworld.

Rydia: Oh, no!

Edge: What's going on here!?

Golbez: We do not have the luxury of time.

Edge: You! Spill everything you know, right now. How about starting by telling us who you are, for one?

Rydia: Look out! A meteor!

Luca: Punch it, boys! We need to get out of here!

Edge: Unbelievable... Meteors all falling all over the land as far as the eye can see!

Golbez grabs the wheel.

Luca: Wh-whoa! What are you doing?

Rydia: What're you...?

Edge: We're headed towards Baron Castle!

Meanwhile, in Baron...

Cecil: Welcome back. I'm glad to see you all. Ceodore, Rosa, Cid... and most of all, Kain!

Rosa: Cecil!

Ceodore: Father!

We reach the castle.

Edge: What form of treachery is this?

Golbez: Off we go.

Edge: Hold it!

The guys get off the ship. Luca turns to Calca and Brina.

Luca: You two stay and watch the Falcon.

The two spin, and the girls get off the ship. In we go.

The castle is glowing pink. Huh.

Edge: What the...!?

Rydia: It's the same glow as the one coming from the Tower of Babil!

Luca: Is there no way to break through?

Golbez: ...

He starts to leave.

Edge: Where're you going?

Golbez: We must find another way inside.

Edge: Stop! Wait!

Well, let's look around. First, we head northwest of Baron, to a spot west of a waterfall. Here we find a Small Tail. This will be useful later. We head back to Baron.

The areas here are closed off and are roaming with soldiers. Talking to them gets us into a fight. We look around. Another Small Tail is at the back of the town. We also find a Small Tale near Cid's house. This is a joke item, it's the same thing as a Potion.

Challengingway's here, but as there are no more Challenge Dungeons, he is now the shop. Not many upgrades for us yet, but Luca does get some Bone Mail. We also equip the best stuff we got from other Tales.

We try Cid's house.

Luca: Master! Master Cid!

Mid: Who is it?

Cid's Daughter: Shhh! Don't go outside!

Luca: No, it's all right! It's me, Luca!

Cid's Daughter: Huh...?

In we go.

Cid's Daughter: Luca! Rydia and Edge, too!

Luca: Oh, it's such a relief to see you all safe...

Cid's Daughter: Do you know of my father or of King Cecil?

Edge: We are in the midst of searching for them, but you know that stubborn old man better than I do. I'm sure he's doing just fine.

Cid's Daughter: Yes... You're right!

We also try Rosa's house.

Rydia: Anybody here?

Rosa's Mother: Who is it?

Rydia: Oh thank goodness! You're still alive!

Rosa's Mother: That voice...

Well, let's head in.

Rosa's Mother: Wait... I know you.

Rydia: It's Rydia, madam!

Rosa's Mother: And what of Ceodore!? Is Ceodore with you!?

Rydia: I'm sorry...

Rosa's Mother: I see... I hope nothing's happened to him and Rosa...

Edge: There's no need to worry. He is Cecil's son, you know.

Rydia: He's right. I'm sure the son of Cecil and Rosa will make it through this... and I promise we won't rest until we find him!

Rosa's Mother: Thank you...!

Golbez: ...

Well, that's all we can do here. Next time, we'll have to figure out what we can do.

If you could switch party members, or at least fill up the fifth slot, who would you pick at this point?

Probably Izayoi or Brina, some extra healing potential would be nice, as Edge is the only one of the four that can heal right now, and it's really limited.

I really don't like this party, it feels really unbalanced, sacrificing healing ability for what isn't that noticeable of an increase in damage output. Eh, I'll just chuck it on the pile of problems I have with this game.

Even if they did want to force those four on you, they really should have let you fill the fifth spot, at least, with a doll, ninja, or character you'd rescued (Porom or Leonora, once you rescue them, could provide your team with REAL White Magic.) Alas...
