Chapter 21:
The trip back to Lycia was somber and uneventful. When we finally arrived back in Badon, the siblings told us their story. Ninian and Nils told us of how they had tried to escape Valor together, but a storm threw Nils overboard and sent him back to the island. Nergal had planned to have them open the dragons gate with their power, and to help, he sucked the life energy from Marquess Pharae's knights, and ultimately the Marquess himself. We decided to leave Eliwood alone after that story, and went to discuss what had occurred. But suddenly, the village was under attack!
Eliwood and Lucius both insisted on fighting alongside us, despite their losses. I was a little worried about Lucius, but I knew he could take care of himself. Eliwood, on the other hand needed to be watched carefully, as we knew he could collapse at any time.
As we got ready, Ninian came to us, saying that she wanted to make herself useful and help us out. Though she and her brother are very good at supporting the troops, I know that she's pretty frail. If something were to happen to her, I don't think Eliwood would ever recover from it, so I've asked for her to try and be more useful outside of combat instead.
Hector: Hector's first job was to go shopping for some needed supplies. We especially needed more Hand Axes and Javelin's which were proving to be very useful since we lacked Archers.
Serra: After getting a restore staff from Kent, Serra immediately put it to good use, healing Oswin of his poison. Unfortunately, she managed to get hit by another Poison Lance wielding Pegasus Knight, giving her an infection too.
Kent: Kent convinced an old lady to shut her house doors, and was rewarded with a Restore Staff, which he gave to Serra. He continued to fight along the main road.
Lucius
: Charged alongside Dart and took out a Pegasus Knight of his own.
Dart: Dart went along the main road, attacking the Pegasus Knight that managed to poison Oswin.
Fiora: Fiora warned a household of the danger that was nearby, and was given a Light Rune. This could prove useful in a pinch. She then did some shopping for magical items, and found her self helping out another house. The man noticed something interesting, that there were wyvern riders amongst the attackers. Wyverns are mostly found in the mountainous Bern region on the other side of the continent, so finding them here is very unusual.
Ninian: She mostly stayed by Eliwood's side in the rear.
Eliwood: He mostly stayed by Ninian's side in the rear.
Oswin: He went down the main road and acted as a shield for the rest of the party. He was quickly attacked by a Pegasus Knight that wielded an odd lance dipped in dripping poison. While it had no immediate effects, he soon found himself struggling to stand, as the venom made its way through his body. He was quickly healed by Serra, and soon after found himself receiving an Elysian Whip from a very odd man. With this, Fiora will soon be able to grow even stronger.
Marcus: He aided Oswin in protecting the main party. He was elected to be the one to lure out the leader of the group, Oleg.
Matthew: I once again had him light the way, giving him a torch so we could see more of what was out there.
The leader of this group was a warrior known as Oleg
. He was a fearsome fighter that used both a bow for long range combat and a Killer Axe for short range. After Marcus lured him out, however, he was easy to take down. The man had used his bow on Marcus, and then called for reinforcements, who surrounded us. But because he had used his bow, he wasn't able to handle the up-close and personal combination of Kent, Dart
, and Fiora
. To add insult to injury, Matthew managed to steal the Hero Crest that Oleg was holding, which we could sell to help pay for all the shopping that was done. (This also managed to level up
Matthew, who had been slowly gaining exp from all the dodging and stealing he'd been doing on this adventure)
After the battle, we decided that our next move had to be to meet up with the Marquess of Ostia, Uther. Hector wasn't too pleased with the prospect of having to face his brother so soon, but with all that had happened so far the head of the Lycian League had to know. Later that night, we had another surprise, in the form of Isadora
, a Paladin from Pharae. Marcus had sent a messenger to Eliwood's mother Eleanora, informing her of the late Marquess's death. In response, she had ordered Isadora to meet up with us and support us. She'll be a good teacher for some of the younger troops, and the weapons she brought along with her should prove useful as well.
