Episode 1-2: Growing Pains!

May 18th, 1401: My first action after the peace is to bribe the Maya to stop eyeing my new lands. My armies are shit after that war, and bribes cost less than mercenaries.

June 4th, 1401: I stop insisting that people take rocks I find as currency.

It was fun while it lasted.

October 1st, 1401: We draft some actual men into the army.
September 29th, 1402: Two men, whose names I cannot pronounce, come to me insisting that I put the country on the gold standard. Since gold is abundant in our lands, I'm not sure what this is supposed to accomplish.
January 7th, 1403: I start eradicating all traces of the poopyhead culture.

It clearly didn't help them any.

April 29th, 1403: I begin to stare intently at the old Zapotec capital.

Hopefully this will work some kind of magic.

July 16th, 1403: My advisors tell me we've mapped the Zacatecas area. They also tell me it wasn't really worth it.
April 20th, 1404: I send another bribe to the Mayan ambassador, really just because I can.
June 28th, 1404: I move a point towards Free Subjects, not because I cared about the revolt that would happen on the alternate option but because I wanted to move that point anyway.
June 29th, 1406: I move a point towards Plutocracy, because I, for some reason, start four points past my minimum aristocracy limit for a tribal democracy. Stupid Paradox.
July 1st, 1408: Well, I do indeed like profits.
June 25th, 1410: I use my second slider movement to centralize the government, and a bunch of very-non central people suddenly appear in my lands.
July 2nd, 1412: I'm in the middle of beating the non-central people with sticks when my advisors tell me

I could get paid to lose revolt risk. Of course, I take the offer.

November 4th, 1413: The non-central people are finally all dead. Sticks are very inefficient.
November 26th, 1413: A new puppet appears! Unfortunately this one is barely better than the last one.
November 1st, 1415: Free prestige, and free money.
July 8th, 1416: My advisors tell me that our relations with Ferrara have improved.

I wasn't aware we had relations with Ferrara.

May 14th, 1417: The Maya ambassador is now firmly in our pocket.

Once we invent pockets, of course.

June 12th, 1419: The spirits inform me of the existance of the Mutapa. Our priests can now communicate with their capital.

I don't actually communicate with them, of course; they're halfway across the world and have no idea I'm here. I hope.

July 14th, 1420: We see a comet. I begin to get the feeling of a predestined fate constricting around us.

Then I shrug it off and take the stab hit.

October 9th, 1420: My Master of the Mint with the unpronouncable name has died. I immediately hire a replacement.

July 1st, 1421: My other Master of the Mint has died. For some odd reason, nobody wants the position.

October 11th, 1421: 'nother point Centralized, 'nother "large" revolt.

This is great, keep it up! The "relations with Ferrara" and "pockets" parts are comedy gold.

So what does "centralized" do?

Centralization yields so much benefits it's not funny, increased stability cost aside. One of its bigger bonuses is increased tax modifier, which means more money to your monthly research/minting and more annual income.

And I'm amused about the Ferrara bit. Will you be meeting Ulm next, I wonder?

So, I've got about one more update for episode 1, and then I've also already got the playthrough for episode 2 completed.

No spoilers, but maybe a hint: I now have nine provinces.
