Gym Guy: Yo! Champ in making! Lt. Surge has a nickname. People refer to him as the Lightning American! He’s an expert on Electric Pokemon! Birds and water Pokemon are at risk! Beware of paralysis too!
Yellow: Like I thought. Sorry Gyarados, but you’ll have to keep sitting out battles until this is done.
Gyarados: Electricity, my only weakness…
Gym Guy: Lt. Surge is very cautious! You’ll have to break a code to get to him.
Yellow: (As usual, Purple is the only person noted on the statues. I guess Sandshrew helped him a lot here.)

{The Sailor sends out a level 24 Magnemite. Charmeleon faces it. Magnemite’s Sonicboom attack proves dangerous, but Charmeleon pulls through.}

{The Rocker uses two lv 20 Voltorb and a Magnemite. Charmeleon takes on the first one, while Ivysaur fights the second, and Charmeleon comes back in for the third.}

Gentleman: The door won’t open? Lt. Surge always was cautious!
{After healing his team, Yellow start’s rooting through the trash. It’s tough work, as the first switch can somehow deactivate and move if he doesn’t find the second one fast enough. He wonders how this is possible. In any case, eventually, the door to the leader’s chamber is opened.}
Lt. Surge: Ten-hut! Welcome to Vermillion Gym!
Yellow: Lieutenant.
Lt. Surge: Will you look at that, a pint-size challenger! Hahaha! You’ve got big and brassy nerves to take me on with your puny power!
Yellow: We haven’t lost yet.
Lt. Surge: A Pokemon battle is war! I’ll show you, civilian! I’ll shock you into surrender!

Yellow: One pokemon… I have a plan, Pikachu! Thunder Wave attack!
{Round 1: Lt. Surge uses an X-Speed on Raichu. But then Thunder wave counters it seconds later.}
Yellow: (If he used that later, I don’t know how they would have reacted.) Now, Slam Attacks.
Pikachu: A fight against my own mutated form… I can prove that I do not need evolution!
Raichu: Sorry little lady, but the difference between us is no joke.
Pikachu: Why you-
{Round 2: Pikachu strikes first with a critical Slam. But Raichu punts her away with Mega Kick. HP 0/56 vs 60%}
Pikachu: CHAAA! No… I can’t…go back…
{Pikchu is autorecalled}
Yellow: Pikachu! …You’ll pay for that. Go Ivysaur! Leech Seed.
{Round 3: Leech Seed takes root. Raichu is fully Paralyzed HP 68/68 vs 55%}
Yellow: Now, Cut attacks.
{Round 4: Ivysaur shows off his leaf blades, but Raichu counters with a Mega Punch. HP 43/68 vs 35%}
Ivysaur: 'Strong in every way. But we don’t only have numbers on our side.''
Raichu: I see that. But you can’t take much more of this- ug
{Round 5: Ivysaur cuts, and Raichu seizes up from paralysis. HP: 47/68 vs 10%}
Yellow: Now, finish him off.
Vysaur: Naturally.
{Round 6: Raichu goes down.}
Lt. Surge: Whoa! You’re the real deal, kid! Fine then, take the Thunderbadge!

Lt. Surge: The Thunderbadge cranks up your Pokemon’s Speed! It also lets your Pokemon Fly anytime, kid! You’re special, kid! Take this! This Tm contains Thunderbolt! Teach it to an electric Pokemon!
Yellow: …I need to go.
Lt. Surge: A little word of advice, kid! Electricity is sure powerful! But, it’s useless against Ground-type Pokemon!
Gym Guy: Whew! That match was electric!
