Prologue: Welcomes and information

Hello, all who are currently reading this! This is the opening page of what will be the storage place for all my liveblogs of the Fire Emblem series of games. In here, I will be updating chapter by chapter as I play through the games and hopefully make those updates as fun to read as possible!

The next page will be a Table of Contents, since this will eventually get fairly large, and it will make categorizing which games are being covered in which liveblog installments much easier.

Continue forth onto the next page, and hopefully enjoy your time reading!

Marcus is absolutely essential in Hard Mode, not as much in normal.

Both times Alan turned out better than Lance for me and then was himself outmatched by one of the best prepromotes ever.

This game hates knights and I commend you if you manage to use Bors or the other two for long, although they get a triangle attack which is reason enough I'll probably try to train them seriously next time.

Merlinus, unlike the sequel, has absolutely no reason to be brought on the map once you can ditch him, so I suggest doing so (chapter 6 I think).

I know you want to do a blind run but I highly recommend looking up the gaiden chapter requirements since without reaching all 8 you'll miss, in addition to them, two chapters and the best ending, not to mention otherwise you'll feel like "What? That's it?" since it cuts off kind of abruptly.

You'll usually know if you'll miss the gaiden requirements though. Chapter 12's has a soldier talk about sealing off the cave for Armads and Chapter 14's Fog will clear up.

You probably won't miss 8 if you're used to keeping everyone alive. 16's is probably one of the more difficult chapters to unlock because it involves making sure an enemy does not die.

I would also say that Wendy is a lot like Amelia except for the fact that she has to contend with a lot of axe users in the chapters after she joins you so she's a little harder to train, but better than any of the other possible Generals.

Why doesn't Merlinus need to be brought? Can I just send stuff to the convoy so long as I have him?

I will be keeping an eye on the Gaiden requirements, since I want all of the chapters.

As for the units, I've heard of Marcus' usefulness, and I'll likely keep him handy until my units get some really good stats, and I've also heard of the knight triangle attack, although I wasn't aware all of the knights were as bad as Bors.

Yup which makes him infinitely better than FE 7 Merlinus.

Well, I hear Wendy grows up to be the best, but she starts at level 1 with bad bases and the next several chapters of the game are axe country. The triangle attack could probably help with that which is why she's not completely hopeless.

Barth is a good wall when you get him. I didn't try to seriously use him so maybe he turns out decent. I dunno, he just didn't interest me.

Barth is basically garbage. Yes he'll get HP every level up and Strength is rather likely, Defense pretty average, but everything else is garbage. 20% Speed, 20% Luck, 25% Skill, 2% Res. He won't dodge anything, ever, and if he gets Defense screwed, well, crap.

2% res growth? That's amusingly specific. Constantly being able to send stuff to the convoy will be nice. Wendy is the best of the lot, eh? Might try to use her, although if axes are everywhere, I doubt I'll have the patience.
