Furies of Calderon: Prologue

So, I've never read The Dresden Files, despite all the great things I've heard. I just have had a bunch of other stuff to read for a few years now so that taking on a lengthy and ongoing series just wasn't very appealing to me. But then I discovered Jim Butcher also wrote a series called Codex Alera which recently ended at six books, which actually makes it managable. Plus, going from its page on this site the series has one of the most Crazy Awesome premises I've ever seen, which should be a lot of fun. And a while back there was that one guy requesting someone do a blind LB of Dresden Files that no one picked up; hopefully this will be a good substitute.

So book one is Furies of Calderon, and we start with a one page prologue. The First Lord of Alera, Gaius Primus, blathers on about how often one individual can change the course of history. Is he related to Irulan, by any chance? Then a kid named Tavi is, ahem, persuaded to do a favor for an unnamed girl. That's it for now, but starting with cheap erotica is always a winner in my book.

I hope that you will continue with this, though managing a post per chapter may be too much work for a 6-volume series.
