*Ranger Six steps out of the shadows.

Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. Due to recent events, I will be undertaking the laborious process of transferring the data from the archived version of this liveblog from the archived Live Bloginations forum to this new section, after which I will be working through a backlog of completed missions.

However, be forewarned, this may take quite some time due to circumstances beyond my control - particularly given the upcoming holidays.

That being said, though, it's time to stock up on Harpoon Pods and man the torpedo launchers, for the Second Alien War is upon us!

(Also, for the record, I originally started this liveblog at a now-defunct iteration of the Fora Augusta, where I went by the name of Professor Yana. So if you're wondering who this Professor Yana chap is that's in command of X-Com, it's me.)

A few notes:

I discovered - quite by accident - that you can shoot away part of the railing around the "observation port" in the room above the Synodium Device.

This allows you to have an Aquanaut walk onto the device, drop an explosive of some kind (in this case, a Magna-Blast Grenade), and walk back into the room above the device. When you end your turn, the explosive detonates and destroys the Synodium Device, and you've effectively neutralized the colony without having to fight your way through hordes of Lobstermen.

Also, even though I had one of the other Aquanauts take the unconscious Arilou back to the entrance lift, the game still listed her as MIA. However, since she technically didn't die on this mission, I gave her name to a newly-recruited Aquanaut

This is why there's commentary in the "Commander's Log" following this entry about her being listed as both MIA and a new recruit, an incident which I kinda-sorta handwaved as being due to a glitch in the personnel database.
