* AmericansHateTingle: They had eleven Top 10 hits in the UK (with three hitting #1), but just two in America ("I'm Not in Love" and "The Things We Do for Love". "People in Love", which made it to #40, was their only other Top 40 hit in that country).
* SugarWiki/HeartwarmingMoments: "I'm Not in Love" was inspired by Eric Stewart's wife, Gloria, who complained that he had stopped saying "I love you" as much as he used to. Stewart wrote the lyrics to say he loved her without actually saying "I love you." The lyric "I keep your picture upon the wall" refers to an actual picture of Gloria. P.S. Eric and Gloria Stewart are still married, decades later.
* MisattributedSong: One reason that "Neanderthal Man" by Hotlegs became a hit is that a rumor started that it was Music/TheBeatles performing under an alias. Which became HilariousInHindsight with Eric Stewart's later work with Music/PaulMcCartney.
* SugarWiki/MostWonderfulSound: The vocal harmonies of "I'm Not in Love", which were accomplished by overdubbing '''254''' vocal tracks using tape loops and other then-state-of-the-art equipment. It paid off extensively; it was a huge hit and is frequently regarded as one of the best-sounding songs of the '70s.
* NightmareFuel: "Clockwork Creep," a song about a bomb on board a plane, ends with a ticking sound getting louder before abruptly cutting off.
* SignatureSong: "I'm Not in Love" was their biggest hit, hitting #1 in the UK (for 2 weeks), Canada and Ireland, and the Top 10 in several other countries. In the US, it spent 3 weeks at #2, kept out of the top slot by "The Hustle" (Van [=McCoy=]), "One of These Nights" (Music/{{Eagles}}) and "Jive Talkin'" (Music/TheBeeGees).
* SongAssociation: Most modern fans of 10cc were first introduced to the band by either ''WesternAnimation/{{Superjail}}'', which used "Rubber Bullets" as the opening theme for the pilot episode, or Music/JDilla's ''Music/{{Donuts}}'', which heavily sampled "The Worst Band in the World" and "Johnny, Don't Do It". For the latter, Creator/DaveChappelle has also introduced people to 10cc by proxy, due to using "Workinonit" as the theme to some of his modern skits. In 2014, "I'm Not in Love" got a noticeable boost in popularity from appearing on the soundtrack to ''Film/GuardiansOfTheGalaxy2014''.
* SuspiciouslySimilarSong: The recurring guitar riff on "Feel the Benefit" sounds a lot like the [[Music/TheWhiteAlbum "Dear Prudence"]] riff, and the closing section uses a similar progression to the fadeout of "Hey Jude". There are also some parts that are reminiscent of "Venus and Mars" by Music/{{Wings|Band}}.
** The initial pre-chorus bridge ("if your mind is tripping...") in "The Sacro-Iliac" is heavily reminiscent of Paul [=McCartney=]'s "Long-Haired Lady".
* TearJerker: "Old Wild Men" wonders what happens to aging rock stars; "Don't Hang Up" has someone calling their ex to try and patch things up, only to be hung up on mid-sentence.
