1	* AlternativeCharacterInterpretation: The 3rd Twitter Takeover, celebrating the release of ''Sonic Forces'', had a moment where Eggman received a message from Infinite which consisted of a file named [[PortmanteauCoupleName Son]][[HoYay adow]]. This could either paint him as a [[ShipperOnDeck Sonadow shipper]] or a [[{{Troll}} massive troll]]. Either way, this paints him as being NotSoAboveItAll.
2	* BrokenBase:
3	** The Twitter account itself has split the fanbase since Aaron Webber's acquisition of it; one side thinks of it as an entertaining outlet that can relate to the fans and lighten the mood over the woes the franchise has gone through, while the other believes it to be an immature use of social PR full of unfunny memes that only highlight the franchise's woes through SelfDeprecation. With Webber leaving the account in June 2020, there's now a split between those who hope this means the account can start taking itself more seriously and professionally again, and those who hope that Katie Chrzanowski (Webber's successor) and the others can continue his style of entertaining Sonic fans.[[note]]So far, they've gone with the latter, though they've generally laid off the self-deprecating jokes.[[/note]]
4	** The use of SelfDeprecation humor in general. Some find it to be a clever, lighthearted and humorous way to poke fun at the franchise’s AudienceAlienatingEra, while others found it to be inappropriate given the franchise’s rather poor reputation and [[BrokenBase/SonicTheHedgehog atomically fissioned fanbase]], with the jokes only adding to that reputation and continuing to further cement Sonic’s status as [[MemeticLoser a bigger punching bag and a joke on the internet than he already is]]. After the departure of Aaron Webber, the account appears to have pivoted more towards celebrating the franchise rather than ribbing on it. While this has appeased fans, it also annoyed others during the build-up to ''VideoGame/SonicFrontiers'', which the official Twitter was very tight-lipped about leading up to its release; fans were frustrated that the Twitter kept posting its usual content while leaving the status of a tentpole release up in the air.
5	* CrossesTheLineTwice:
6	** During the 3rd Twitter Takeover, [[https://twitter.com/sonic_hedgehog/status/926590163605643264 somebody asked]] the question, [[VideoGame/SonicAdventure2 "To Shadow, how's Maria?"]] [[BlackComedy It's so awful that it's funny]], and Eggman and Sonic's [[OhCrap reactions]] to the question (as well as Shadow's [[TranquilFury reaction]]) are even funnier.
7	** In the 7th Twitter Takeover, Eggman states that most of his best schemes happen during the winter because "Seasonal Depression hits [him] like a cinder block." What's funny about it is how casual he is about it and how incredulous Tails is.
8	* HarsherInHindsight:
9	** Shadow is shown to view Infinite as a loser wannabe edgelord. [[spoiler:This gets carried over into ''Episode Shadow'' when it's revealed that his KickTheDog moment on Infinite [[UnwittingInstigatorOfDoom kick-started the plot]].]]
10	** At the end of the sixth Twitter Takeover, Eggman remarks that he'll remember everyone in the event Twitter destroys itself. And, sadly, it seems to be the case, with Twitter already suffering a lot thanks to Elon Musk following that time and eventually getting rebranded to "X" by him, much to the disdain of many, [[https://twitter.com/RogerCraigSmith/status/1686154152077115393 Roger Craig Smith]] and [[https://twitter.com/itsamike/status/1683236327393828866?s=20 Mike Pollock]] included.
11	** In the 6th Takeover, Shadow makes an off-handed but no less shocking comment regarding the fate of a certain past character: [[spoiler: his biological progenitor Black Doom, who according to him is still alive. Fast forward a few years later to the reveal of ''[[VideoGame/SonicGenerations Sonic]] [[UpdatedRerelease X Shadow Generations]]'', and it turns out that is indeed the case.]]
12	* HilariousInHindsight:
13	** Shadow's favorite anime is ''Anime/KillLaKill'', as he states in the third and fourth Takeover events. Guess who his third ''WebAnimation/DeathBattle'' opponent is? [[spoiler:Becomes HarsherInHindsight in that although he got a win, he had to kill Ryuko to get it, something the hosts point out.]]
14	** To celebrate the release of ''Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain'', the twitter posted a parody version of the box art using a Sonic character. [[spoiler:The fact that it was engineered duplicate Metal Sonic is shockingly accurate to the game's revelation that the main character was an engineered duplicate of Big Boss (though less "robotic copycat" and more "surgically-altered and hypnotized cyborg").]]
15	* MisaimedMarketing: While under Aaron Webber's direction, the page had a tendency to reference and collaborate with the WebVideo/GameGrumps, who are known for disliking and mocking the ''Sonic'' series. Game Grumps fans weren't interested in engaging with the account because of their distaste for the series, while ''Sonic'' fans were annoyed that the account gave free publicity to its detractors. This started to die down after Katie Chrzanowski became his successor.
16	* MisBlamed: Perhaps unsurprisingly, the social media account tends to get a good amount of the blame for the franchise’s more recent misgivings, even if they’re only a social media account that doesn’t have much influence on the actual management and direction of the franchise.
17	* UnexpectedCharacter:
18	** For Twitter Takeover 5, Sonic, Tails, Shadow, and Eggman all came back to answer some questions, but people were confused about why ''[[VideoGame/SonicColors Yacker]]'' was joining in on the fun. Even though this was due to Twitter Takeover 5 being made to promote ''[[UpdatedRerelease Sonic Colors Ultimate]]'', Yacker is still nowhere as much a recurring staple for the franchise as the other four. That and his...uh, [[SpeakingSimlish "dialogue" isn't exactly written in English]]...
19	** Shadow could count as well for Twitter Takeover 5, as the only version of ''Colors'' he appears in was the [=DS=] version, while the takeover video was a tie-in to the UpdatedRerelease of the Wii version, where Shadow doesn't appear.
20	** Twitter Takeover 6 follows suit with Shadow again, him being the only one of the six characters present (the other five being the ever-present Sonic, Tails, and Eggman as well as newcomers to the takeovers in Amy and Knuckles) to not appear in ''VideoGame/SonicFrontiers''. [[spoiler:[[BigBad THE END]] also makes a surprise appearance in one response (owing to the character having Eggman's and Amy's voice actors).]]
21	** Twitter Takeover 7 has [[ComicBook/SonicTheHedgehogIDW Dr. Starline]] mentioned.
