1	* ArcFatigue: Averted. Every arc of the series plays out until it ends, with no arc going on longer than it should. In fact, one of the few complaints of the series is that the final arc was too short.
2	* CompleteMonster: [[ManipulativeBastard Aji Tae]], the [[BigBad man responsible]] for a country's destruction, devours the king to take his form, manipulating his people and the king's good friend, [[AntiHero Munsu]]. While ruling like this, he transforms the country into HellOnEarth, intending to convince Munsu that his old friend has turned into a genocidal tyrant. He kills the woman Munsu loves, turns her into an undead, rapes her, and falsely promises her that she will be returned to life if she kills Munsu. After she opts to kill herself, Aji Tae's reaction is to be so infuriated with human goodness that he slaughters everyone around him with guiltless conscience or love in their hearts. The [[ForTheEvulz reason he started the entire scheme]] in the first place is that he wanted to see loyal servants of the country in general fall into the savagery of civil war and destroy each other, and Munsu, in particular, being reduced to absolute despair, because this would have amused him and because he could. Next he sets his sights on making the entirety of humanity into conscience-free monsters like himself. Despite his charming demeanor and good looks, he's a monster with few equals.
3	* FridgeBrilliance: If you look closely, the series has been subtly dropping hints about Sando [[spoiler:not being human]] since the very start. [[spoiler:Her lover is a guy who can talk to animal, she doesn't need to eat, she's ridiculously strong for a country girl, no one is turned on by her [[{{Stripperific}} incredible sexiness]], Bang Ja is surprised when he realizes Munsu sees Sando as a girl... and the warriors whom she picked fights with spread the rumors that they were fighting some kind of monster.]]
4	* FridgeHorror: At first the duck that Aji Tae carries around seems just part of his quirky act to fool people. But it turns out that the duck, like Mago, is actually human. A human toddler. Now think of all the people that had intentions to cook and eat him.
5	* HoYay:
6	** Won Sul seems to have....strong feelings for Munsu.
7	** Aji Tae's attitudes towards Munsu come across as advances sometimes. Munsu himself has a rather questionable attitude. And their interactions at times are.. well.. Granted, they're just taunting each other, but still. At one point he shushes Aji Tae by pressing a finger to his lips... which makes the terrifying demon lord ''blush''.
8	* NightmareFuel: [[spoiler: Won Sul. sniff]]
9	* TheScrappy: Most readers just ''hate'' Bang Ja, [[RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap at least in the beginning]].
10	* StoicWoobie: The leader of the Hwalbindang. [[spoiler:She got mistreated due to being an illegitimate child while Kye Wol Hyang was pampered, but never held any resentment towards her sister or the world, and has a strong desire to help people.]]
11	* TearJerker: [[spoiler: Munsu's death, as well as the afterlife scene]].
12	* TheWoobie: Bang Ja, Wonsul.
