* {{Adorkable}}: Alex and Marie fit this trope rather well, in-universe and to many readers. Unfortunately, Alex's adorkability plus his geeky cluelessness may be prone to triggering {{tsundere}} tendencies in Marie. For her part, she's such a gaming fanatic that she's named her boobs "Peach & Daisy" and likens masturbation to level grinding. She's also socially awkward and utterly clueless about how to get Alex to look at her as more than a friend.
* BaseBreakingCharacter: ZoƩ has proven to be divisive. Opinion on the comic's official forum is split between those who admire her for having Sandra's best interests at heart, and say she's awesome. The other side feels she's anything but, due to her hair trigger temper, with some saying she (and Domenico's agency by extension) is [[WithFriendsLikeThese more of an antagonist]] [[http://www.pixietrixcomix.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=600174#p600174 than Eva.]] Others criticise her for overall lack of professionalism.
* BrokenBase: [[spoiler:The ending. While some readers see no problem with Sandra ending up with Cammi, crediting it as another example of inclusivity towards non-heteronormative relationships, and point out that the possibility had a certain amount of foreshadowing, others have insisted the relationship boarders on a complete AssPull, with reasons ranging from Sandra being conclusively proven to be straight -- if the legendary [[EvenTheGirlsWantHer DiDi]] couldn't be a ClosetKey for her than nothing should've -- to the previously established fact that any attraction to women that she did feel was apparently based solely on a fetish for completely meaningless sex and her own subconscious telling her that an emotional relationship with another woman would be "hell". And that's besides the fact that detractors suggest that Sandra and Cammie have been shown to have ''nothing in common'' beyond general impulsivity (and that Ingrid was better suited for Cammi). This all comes as the consequence of a TimeSkip, with even supporters of the ending saying it felt rushed.]]
* HilariousInHindsight: [[https://pixietrixcomix.com/sandra-on-the-rocks/The-you-will-be-me-and-not-you Strip #67]] has Sandra thinking the UsefulNotes/WiiU's gamepad is the whole system, complimenting it for being compact. Then the UsefulNotes/NintendoSwitch came along, with a core system that really WAS that small.
* MoeCouplet: Lavali and Marie - one's almost painfully [[ShrinkingViolet shy and reserved]], the other's a teenaged GamerChick with a hidden girly streak and an obvious case of [[{{fangirl}} hero worship]] towards Sandra. When they're together, [[{{moe}} the moe factor]] skyrockets, such as when Sandra incites everyone [[https://pixietrixcomix.com/sandra-on-the-rocks/we-are-naked-in-public to go skinny-dipping in the pool at a nightclub]].
* ScifiGhetto: Gary, appearing in the crossover with ''Webcomic/MenageA3'', is firmly stuck in a ghetto by his own choice; a wannabe artist, in Paris and offered a chance to visit a whole range of classic and modern art galleries and collections, he shows no real interest in the idea. Conversely, in the same storyline, Senna demonstrates an old-fashioned high culture disdain for comics art. Apparently, she's never heard of Pop Art, or any of the fashion designers (i.e. people working in her own field) who are influenced by comics styles, or anything else on those lines. Given that Creator/RoyLichtenstein was producing comics-based "high art" a good ''fifty years ago'', some readers [[DontShootTheMessage wondered what the writers were thinking there]] (and also [[StrawmanHasAPoint shared her exasperation with Gary]]). One possible conclusion is simply that Senna is nuts.
* TakeThat: The whole thing with the DarkerAndEdgier reboot of ''Carmen Chamelia''...
** ...Seems to be one against the latest ''VideoGame/{{Tomb Raider|2013}}'' installment.
** But it could also be a reference to ''VideoGame/MetroidOtherM'', which also got a lot of flak for making its strong female protagonist seem weaker. This is supported by Sandra receiving a special edition Carmen Chamelia Nintendo handheld (probably a UsefulNotes/Nintendo3DS, though Sandra's video game knowledge is so far in the past that the only system she knows about is Game Boy and Alex doesn't really say what he's giving her); while many Nintendo franchises have been directly referenced, Metroid hasn't, so it's possible that Carmen Chamelia is this universe's equivalent.
