Rube is never shown to be starving unlike Reg, which may either come from [[AchievementsInIgnorance ignorance]] or his super powers, so basically Rube never considers his brother's needs no matter how much he puts them forward and would prefer to practice HonorBeforeReason instead. |

He's selfish and short-tempered a lot of the time, but the sheer amount of terrible things that happen to him far overpower the bad things he does and turn him into this, as well as some episodes even playing with his emotions and having him make a sacrifice to prevent a lethal or dangerous tragedy from occurring only for it to turn out that said tragedy was actually something arbitrarily small. Even in the ChristmasSpecial he doesn't catch a break at the end, despite [[ItMakesSenseInContext returning all the gifts to their rightful owners]].
