* GrowingTheBeard: Season 1 didn't draw too many fans, in large part because [[ClicheStorm the plot was far too cliché]]. Season 2, however, was anything but cliché, and the large amount of [[WhamEpisode Wham Episodes]], CharacterDevelopment, and fast-paced storytelling led to a vast bump in quality.
* JerksAreWorseThanVillains: You have James "Ghost" Saint-Patrick, the VillainProtagonist; Tommy, his wild HairTriggerTemper best friend; And Kanan, a coldblooded [[TheSociopath Sociopath]] among other villains [[spoiler: whom murdered his own son after he sided with his rival Ghost.]] They are all well liked by fans for different reasons. However, the most hated character during the show was Ghost's son Tariq who acts like a [[BrattyHalfPint spoiled]] {{Jerkass}} during the whole show. Purposely sided with his Father's enemies as a form of rebellion [[spoiler: which resulted in his [[AllegedTwins twin sister]] getting murdered. And he kills his Father at the end of the series.]]
* MagnificentBastard: [[AmoralAttorney Joseph "Joe" Proctor]] is a criminal defense attorney who becomes entwined in Ghost's drug empire. After being pressured to serve as Tommy Egan's representative during a trial, Proctor easily convinces the judge and jury that the FBI illegally arrested him based off inadmissible evidence, allowing him to go free. Proctor later assists Ghost and Tommy by delivering them crucial information of witnesses or other criminals and representing Ghost once he's falsely imprisoned for murdering a federal agent. Proctor also keeps a recording of Tommy murdering a confidential informant as insurance should anything dire happen to him. As the FBI keep pressuring Proctor to give up Ghost and his allies, Proctor continues to play both sides, informing Ghost that the FBI wants to turn him whilst also refusing to give up key details that could lead to Ghost's conviction. Struggling to keep full custody of his daughter, Proctor drives his ex-wife, Lindsay, into relapsing and lets her succumb to a drug overdose before calling the police. Once Proctor finds himself seconds away from being killed by Tommy for giving up his name to the FBI, he defiantly tells Tommy that [[ThanatosGambit his death won't change anything]], and the recording eventually will resurface.
* MemeticMutation:
** [[spoiler:#[=HollyIsDeadParty=]]].[[labelnote:Explanation]]Fans hated [[spoiler:Holly]] so much that people jokingly started saying they were celebrating her death.[[/labelnote]]
** A joke fans started began with Kendrick's OneSceneWonder appearance beginning with him randomly shouting "MYNIGGAMYNIGGAMYNIGGA!"
* MoralEventHorizon:
** Kanan coldly killing [[spoiler: his own son Shawn because he refused to kill Ghost, something Kanan was more than capable of doing himself]].
** Holly hiring Jamaican hitmen to [[spoiler:kill Ghost. The hit failed, but she was almost responsible for inadvertently getting Tariq killed as well]].
** [[spoiler:Tariq]] crosses it irreversibly by [[spoiler:fatally shooting Ghost, his own father]].
* OneSceneWonder: Music/KendrickLamar's appearance as a trickster drug-dealer, with many critics even praising the fact that SugarWiki/HeReallyCanAct in terms of his performance.
* SophomoreSlump: Happily averted. [[GrowingTheBeard Season 2 was perphaps the show's defining season for reasons must seen way above.]]
* TheScrappy:
** Very few people liked Holly for constantly committing one dumb act after another. When she [[spoiler:hired Jamaican hitmen to try and kill Ghost behind Tommy's back (which almost inadvertently led to the death of Tariq as well)]], it was the final straw for many fans. So naturally, nobody complained when [[spoiler:[[TakeThatScrappy Tommy choked her to death]]]].
** This can be also be said for Tariq, who didn't achieve this status until midway Season 3 and so on. [[spoiler:The fact that he killed his own father was the final nail for him receiving any sympathy]].
* {{Squick}}: Ghost kills U.S. Marshal Clyde Williams by bashing his head with a weight plate. It's shown in full view, with a GrossUpCloseUp of Ghost ''flattening'' part of his skull.
