* AlternativeCharacterInterpretation:
** Venus does mention having done some nasty things to her former lovers in the past because she either found them annoying or they mistreated her. Although she seems to be nice to everyone she meets, it's shown that she's willing to use her powers on anyone who crosses Eddie. So perhaps her attitude towards him might have changed had she remained on Earth for longer.
** Gloria appears to be all too ready to believe Eddie is cheating on her - and gets violent on him with only a small fraction of evidence. While she has reason to be annoyed that Eddie could be hiding things from her, it seems to paint her as someone with a HairTriggerTemper.
* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic: "Speak Low", a lovely soothing ballad about falling in love.
* BestKnownForTheFanservice: Creator/AvaGardner running around wearing a tight-fitting tunic for the first act, as well as getting a scene with a ModestyBedSheet. The film is practically synonymous with showing off Ava's beauty.
* EnsembleDarkhorse: Molly Grant is beloved by fans of the film, for Eve Arden's fantastically snarky delivery. The majority of the quotes on the film's Website/{{IMDB}} page are provided by her. She was even raised in the billing once the filmmakers realised how she was stealing the show.
* FridgeBrilliance: Venus' presence helps couples find the right match for each other. For example Eddie and Gloria won't work out; as seen, she's prone to hysterics and overreactions. When she flips out, Eddie isn't able to deal with her. Joe meanwhile is able to calm her down without making her even madder - which is why they make a better match. Molly is likewise the only one who can stand up to Whitfield and tell it like it is.
* SugarWiki/FunnyMoments: Every other line out of [[DeadpanSnarker Molly's]] mouth:
** When Eddie is continually acting out the kissing the statue bit to an infuriated detective - who thinks Eddie is ObfuscatingStupidity.
---> '''Molly:''' Pretty clever. He pretended the thousand-pound statue was an elk's tooth and just wore it out.
---> '''Kerrigan:''' I know he had help.
---> '''Molly:''' Probably a couple of elks...
** When Kerrigan refers to Eddie as the ring leader, Molly remarks he "couldn't be ring leader in Ring Around The Rosies."
** She also wonderfully refers to Whitfield as "sire" every time she sees him.
** A non-Molly one comes when Gloria throws a tantrum in the department store over Eddie's cheating. She grabs an ornament to hit him with.
---> '''Eddie:''' Gloria, don't. That's breakable!
---> '''Gloria:''' So is your head!
---> ''Joe runs in to try and break it up.''
---> '''Joe:''' Careful. Everything in here is charged to me!
** Venus shows what she thinks of Kerrigan's arrest warrant for Eddie - by turning it into paper dolls.
---> '''Whitfield:''' [[DeadpanSnarker I thought you were a big boy now.]]
** Just to be a {{Troll}} Venus also turns Kerrigan into an owl. As in he stays human but just ''acts'' like an owl in front of Whitfield. Molly mocks him magnificently for it [[CallBack later]].
* HarsherInHindsight:
** Robert Walker struggles with a fiance who's unhappy and [[spoiler: is the only one to end the movie single, albeit on a MaybeEverAfter situation]]. He would have two divorces by the time he was thirty, the second of which would come only five months after the marriage (and wasn't too long after this film).
** Robert Walker was also quite infatuated with Creator/AvaGardner in real life, just like his character. There it was much less cute; when he found rival Howard Duff in her dressing room, he slapped her.
* HilariousInHindsight: Let's have a look - respectable average Joe working a respectable job, beautiful girl appears on the scene and uses her magic to cause hilarity in his life. Are we talking about ''Series/IDreamOfJeannie''? Bonus points for Venus's initial hairstyle resembling Jeannie's a little.
* HollywoodHomely:
** When she sees Venus, Molly sighs "I wish she reminded me of me". Other lines throughout the film suggest she's meant to be the dowdy secretary. Creator/EveArden is just as gorgeous as Ava Gardner and Olga San Juan and to a modern audience, the glasses make her look even cuter. She would often find herself typecast as the unattractive best friend, which critics of the time found hard to believe.
---> "Why is it that she, strikingly attractive, wittier and more human than other females in her pictures, is always pictured as lonely, unwanted and unsung? In real life, I'm sure Eve is the belle of the ball."
** You might say that Venus is something of an inversion. While played by radiant beauty Creator/AvaGardner, she's not exactly shot or lit in a way that makes her seem more than simply another attractive woman in the film. Olga San Juan and Eve Arden - the other two female leads - are just as gorgeous as she is.
* JustHereForGodzilla: Fans of Ava Gardner and Eve Arden watch the movie just for them.
* [[HoYay Les Yay]]: When Whitfield and Molly come across Venus [[SheCleansUpNicely dolled up in a stylish black evening gown]], Molly's jaw drops and she says "hello, baby".
* OlderThanTheyThink: The film ''Mannequin'' borrowed its plot from ''One Touch of Venus''.
* QuestionableCasting: Robert Walker is sometimes considered to be miscast; he normally played slimy villains (such as ''Film/StrangersOnATrain''), which might have made him a better fit for Whitfield Savory. There are however some who find his performance as Eddie refreshingly {{Adorkable}}.
* SoOkayItsAverage: The film version is considered an inferior or subpar adaptation of the Broadway show, with low production values and minimal score. However, the beauty and charisma of Ava Gardner and Eve Arden at her DeadpanSnarker best help bring it up to average.
* ToughActToFollow: At the time of its release, the film was criticised for not being able to live up to the original show.
* UnintentionalPeriodPiece: Several throwaway lines and walk-on parts show that the show was originally written during UsefulNotes/WorldWarII, which doesn't figure into the plot at all. The film was made four years after the war ended, and so removed these.
* ValuesDissonance:
** Eddie risks being evicted from his apartment if he's found with a strange woman in there.
** The very notion of a LoveGoddess running around civilised society made the show and the film quite risque for the time. Eddie being mistaken for spending the night with Venus when he has a girlfriend? Scandalously hilarious in the 1940s. Creator/MarleneDietrich even backed out of the original production because she found the material too risque.
