However after the story reveals [[spoiler:Yuusuke had abused Yuuta, physically and psychologically to the point of driving him to suicide]], it becomes really hard to care whether Nono wins the gold medal or not. Not helped by the fact that most of the surrounding characters are very unlikable, with only a few exceptions. And the amount of crap Nono has to go through throughout the story makes this series even more difficult to enjoy. |
| 4 | * UnintentionallyUnsympathetic: Yuusuke Nonomiya. At first it's easy to sympathize with him because he was publicly shamed and abused for losing the gold medal. However all sympathy is lost for Yuusuke when he not only abuses his son, Yuuta, into becoming a better ski jumper, but even threatens to kill him if he refuses to get better at his skills. Sure, Yuusuke eventually shows remorse for his abuse of Yuuta and he even hangs himself in despair, however that does little to mitigate his atrocious treatment of Yuuta. |
