* AlternativeCharacterInterpretation:
** Is Davenport an honest businesspony, or did he put Rarity's chaise in his store window specifically to invite a bidding war for it?
** Was Spoiled Rich really being an UngratefulBitch by rejecting all the flowers Filthy Rich bought for her, or was she simply being honest about her preferences and not faking enjoyment of a gift she didn't like? Or maybe she had even said something like "Thanks, but just for next time I prefer purple" and Filthy Rich just misunderstood and assumed she didn't like them if they weren't purple. It all boils down to how rude or polite she was during the unseen refusal.
* AssPull: The episode establishes that spells to change somepony's mane are very complicated, tricky, and even dangerous, and Starlight and Twilight's magic and Zecora's alchemy are powerless to help Rarity. This is despite the fact that in "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS1E6BoastBusters Boast Busters]]", Twilight had a spell to grow mustaches and Trixie could turn Rarity's mane green. Not to mention that with all the other spells Twilight and Starlight have exhibited (as a very brief list -- shield spells, illusions, teleportation, transmutation, transfiguration, time travel), it's rather silly that for some unexplained reasons, spells to change manes are just too difficult for them to pull off.
* FanNickname: Rarity's mohawk-and-leather jacket look at the end of the episode has come to be referred to by fans as "Raripunk" or "Punkity", or less commonly as "Rockin' Rarity".
* {{Fanon}}: Rarity's punk-inspired look, combined with her rock guitar solo in "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS7E9HonestApple Honest Apple]]", suggest that she is a fan of PunkRock or she herself was briefly a rock singer in her younger days.
* HarsherInHindsight: The process of losing her mane is understandably traumatic for her. The 2017 movie which aired a few weeks later has Rarity ComicallyMissingThePoint when complaining that if her hair was sold, it would be worth more than what they were initially bidding is can be taken as a statement from her ordeal in this experience.
* HeartwarmingInHindsight: In "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS1E9BridleGossip Bridle Gossip]]", Rarity derisively called Zecora's natural stripes "so garish" and has to be told that they aren't a fashion choice. In this episode, she adopts a striped mohawk not entirely unlike Zecora's mane and it becomes a fashion trend.
* HilariousInHindsight: Rarity did an electric guitar solo back in "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS7E9HonestApple Honest Apple]]". In this episode, she adopts a decidedly punk rock outfit and manestyle. The aforementioned guitar solo scene proves rather humorous on a rewatch when one can now interpret it as a beginning for a trend of Rarity adopting the trappings of rock culture with ease and success.
* HoYay: Rainbow Dash really, ''really'' likes Rarity with her new multicolored punk hairstyle.
* MemeticMutation: Punk Rarity has inspired more than her fair share of fan art.
* SugarWiki/MostWonderfulSound: Rarity's "''shampoo''" (when she and the other Mane run to Sugarcube Corner worried about Pinkie) sounds adorable.
* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodCharacter: Spike made a brief cameo clipping and carting away the fake hair, but you'd think he'd be the first to try and comfort Rarity.
* WinBackTheCrowd: From the plot summary, fans were worried that it would be another episode with questionable humor like in "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS7E14FameAndMisfortune Fame and Misfortune]]". Instead, we have an episode with a good moral, fun moments and a great resolution.
