* FridgeHorror: This one sentence from Emperor Zizzy:
-->Oh, I had to let you win a few...
** In other words, if he really went all out, the protagonist trio would have no chance of even striking back. He could've effortlessly obliterated the Earth, he just chose not to.
* MagnificentBastard:
** Emperor Zizzy Balooba is a ruler of an alien empire and the ultimate mastermind behind the events of duology. Growing bored after uncovering all mysteries of space and time, Emperor decided to amuse himself by orchestrating an invasion on Earth. Sending his army to drive Minecrawlers through the cities and cause heroes great hardships, while remaining completely undetected with the heroes not knowing that he even exists, the Emperor manipulates everyone around him and even allows the heroes to win a few battles just to amuse himself, never ever caring for all his troops, who die a meaningless death. After being confronted by the heroes and revealing his true motivations, the Emperor was willing to stop his attempts to destroy or enslave Earth, since he had his fun. Being beaten mostly because he didn't take the fight seriously, Emperor manages to die dramatically as he wishes, never losing his jovial side.
** Schwang Schwing is the chief agent of Emperor Zizzy Balooba, who commands his armies, while his boss remains in the shadows. Easily capturing both Kurt Hectic and Max, Schwang also manages to have his army penetrate Dr. Fluke Hawkins' impenetrable ship, sending an alien genius, the BFB, to capture Hawkins, in which he ultimately succeeded. Battling and evading Kurt, while not losing his cool attitude, Schwang then casually reveals that the Emperor was behind everything, simply because he has nothing personal against Kurt. Preparing the Ultimate Doomsday Device and initiating a countdown, Schwang manages to face Max in combat and remain a dangerous opponent, despite being handicapped and only being able to move in a flying wheelchair.
* SequelDifficultySpike: this game is far more difficult, far more frustrating than its predecessor.
* SequelDisplacement: The original has not garnered as much attention as this one. It doesn't help that this game got both a UsefulNotes/WiiWare port and an HD makeover, while the previous game got neither due to the source code of MDK becoming lost over time (possibly not helped by the fact the developer of MDK 1, Shiny, has since gone out of business).
* SuspiciouslySimilarSong: The Main Theme sounds like very much Leave You Far Behind by Lunatic Calm.
