'''WARNING! THERE MAY BE UNMARKED SPOILERS!'''

* AngstWhatAngst:
** Romana spent twenty years in a Dalek prison cell. For the vast majority of the series, this is never mentioned again outside of Romana being perhaps a little harsher than she once was; though when [[spoiler: the end of Season Five rolls around...]]
** Narvin's [[spoiler: stolen lives]] in Series Two. Even allowing for the core cast's vitriolic relationships, his revelation in ''Annihilation'' is very easily taken and put aside. [[spoiler: The issue finally makes a comeback in the second Time War set in which he's offered a new cycle to become a supporter of Rassilon's regime]].
* EnsembleDarkhorse: Narvin, who begins as an unsympathetic bureaucrat and ends as one of the only consistently good characters in the series. His general [[DeadpanSnarker snarkiness]] helps quite a bit too.
* HoYay:
** Narvin misses Brax. They even manage [[BelligerentSexualTension to NOT argue]] for a split second when Narvin comments on Brax's trick with the impulse laser.
** Many, many fans see this with Leela and Romana, particularly when they [[strike: go on their honeymoon]] visit a relaxation planet together in Series Two [[spoiler: and end up temporarily swapping bodies]].
* LauncherOfAThousandShips: Romana, surprisingly. She's been canonically paired with [[Series/DoctorWho the Doctor]], some variant on Romana/Brax is quite popular [[spoiler:and a one-sided PygmalionPlot actually becomes canon]], Romana/Leela was one of the first ships to surface in the fandom, and Romana/Narvin has a growing contingent of supporters. Somehow, 'The Ice Maiden' has ended up as the fandom bicycle.
* NightmareFuel: The horrifically mutilated Time Lord in ''Spirit'' and ''Pandora''.
* PanderingToTheBase: How the series got started.
* ShipMates: [[spoiler: Brax feels this way about himself/Romana and Leela/Narvin. In Brax's daydream at the start of ''Reborn'', Leela and Narvin conveniently pair off before he proposes to Romana.]]
* StoicWoobie: Almost everyone qualifies.
* StrawmanHasAPoint: Narvin, and to a lesser extent Darkel, who are lampooned for saying that Romana is an ineffectual leader whose presidency will lead to disaster. It does, [[spoiler: with the planet in ruins and overrun by zombies.]] Though to be fair to Romana, the same people who insist that her decisions will ruin Gallifrey also tend to be the ones who, in their efforts to subvert her plans, end up causing everything to go wrong in the first place.
