* ClicheStorm: The PostClimaxConfrontation between Kelly and Justin, which includes the following StockPhrases (in order):
** "We need to talk."
** "I have nothing to say to you."
** "Why are you being like this?"
** "I haven't done anything."
** "[She] told me everything."
** "I meant everything I said."
** "You've been hot and cold."
** "Game over."
* HeartwarmingInHindsight: The line "Ladies and gentlemen, and everyone else here!" has actually aged quite well now that there's a lot more public awareness and acceptance of non-binary people.
* IndecisiveParody: The CutSong "Brighter Star", in which Justin and Kelly discuss their first date together with their respective groups of friends, appears to be this movie's attempt to replicate "Summer Nights" from ''{{Film/Grease}}''. But there are some crucial differences:
** Sandy and Danny offer very specific details of their romance; [[TakeOurWordForIt both Justin and Kelly are very vague about what happened]].
** Sandy and Danny provide [[SelfServingMemory very different perspectives]] on their romance, [[AllWomenArePrudes hers emotional]] and his [[AllMenArePerverts physical]]; neither Justin nor Kelly emphasizes one over the other, so their accounts are basically the same.
** The Pink Ladies and the T-Birds come away with completely different assumptions, both of which have a grain of truth; Justin and Kelly's friends [[DidTheyOrDidntThey both assume they "hooked up"]], and none discover that [[ChastityCouple the farthest the two went was shaking hands]].
** Sandy and Danny both assume their romance was just a summer fling; Justin and Kelly use the song to rhapsodize about how [[LoveAtFirstSight they've found love]] and [[InLoveWithLove love is awesome]].
* RetroactiveRecognition:
** Anika Noni Rose, who would go on to play [[Theatre/{{Dreamgirls}} Lorrell]] and [[WesternAnimation/ThePrincessAndTheFrog Tiana]], was Kaya in this film.
** Brian Dietzen, who would play [[Series/{{NCIS}} Jimmy Palmer]] the following year, played Eddie, one of Justin's friends.
* SoBadItsGood: Some people who don't loathe the movie have this opinion of it. This includes UsefulNotes/GoldenRaspberryAward founder John Wilson, who describes ''From Justin to Kelly'' [[https://books.google.com/books?id=bLpJHjGFNk8C&pg=PT34 in his book]] as "stupid when it means to be clever, garishly clubfooted when it wants to be graceful, and bearing no resemblance to anything a modern teenager would be caught dead watching".
* SpecialEffectFailure: The film is riddled with costume and scene continuity errors and at one point the entire set crew can be seen.
* StrangledByTheRedString: Justin and Kelly have almost no real chemistry, to the point where it seems like they don't even want to touch one another, in spite of the fact that [[http://www.eonline.com/news/513139/justin-guarini-reveals-past-romance-with-kelly-clarkson-during-post-american-idol-days they had begun dating in real life while filming]].
* StrawmanHasAPoint: Carlos accuses Kaya of just wanting to just use him for a quick fling before she goes home and forgets him. The sentiment isn't entirely unfounded as it's not explained how any of the couples plan to stay together despite living half a country away from each other.
* TookTheBadFilmSeriously: Webvideo/ToddInTheShadows points out in his review that Jason Yribar, who played Carlos, seemed "too real" to be in the movie. Justin Guarini also put in a lot of effort to as well since his celebrity career depended on this movie's success in sharp contrast to Kelly Clarkson who very much didn't want to be in the film and whose discomfort is clear throughout.
* WTHCostumingDepartment: When she finally decides to "unclench" and start partying, Kelly dons a skirt made of men's ties. She has some pretty impressive AnimeHair in a scene shortly before this.
