3	* AccidentalAesop: This is one of the biggest reasons why many critics have begun to show interest in the series again, when they hadn't shown much when it was popular.
4	* AluminiumChristmasTrees: Being a long-running comedy series from the mid-20th century, it's unsurprising that this trope will occur in at least every movie. For example, bus conductors and buckets of water to put out fires (''Carry On Loving'').
5	* AudienceAlienatingEra: There isn't a really specified era which could be called this trope, but personal opinions about what part of the series that is seen as this is enough to begin a backlash between fans. What many ''can'' agree on, however, is that there were at least two or three eras of this trope.
6	** The Creator/BernardCribbins era (the two films ''Film/CarryOnJack'' and ''Film/CarryOnSpying'') is considered this. With barely any of the actors that you recognise from when the series first began [[note]](only regulars Creator/CharlesHawtrey and Creator/KennethWilliams appear in it, whereas the rest of the roles are portrayed by actors you either never see again in the series, or didn't have a big enough role in their debut appearance to fall back onto in the first place)[[/note]], it's often overlooked (whether accidental or not), even though it was as successful as many of the other recognisable hits like ''Up the Khyber''.
7	** Between ''Film/CarryOnSpying'' in 1964 and ''Film/CarryOnDoctor'' in 1967. When included, six films were made in the time frame, but even though they were also very popular, the four films between the aforementioned aren't always seen as important or memorable. It's not helpful that during the time, the films had to change their distributing company and then hit one of the first box-office bombs in the series when Creator/PhilSilvers failed to bring in the US audience to ''Film/FollowThatCamel!''
8	** When the series branched out to television and stage in the mid-1970s. It wasn't helpful that the TV shows relied on a live-studio audience and the sitcom tropes that other TV shows were doing at the time. Also, many fan favourites barely appeared in either of them (to name ''a few'': Kenneth Williams refused to be in either, Joan Sims refused to be in the stage productions, Creator/SidJames only appeared in a handful of TV episodes and one stage production due to contractual commitments with other media, and Creator/CharlesHawtrey had already been fired at the time for his alcoholism.)
9	* BestKnownForTheFanservice: Outside of the fans, it's pretty much what ''Carry On'' is most remembered for. Unfortunately, this often overshadows all of the other things that the ''Carry On'' movies were known for. ''Carry On Camping'' is especially remembered for the scene when Barbara Windsor's bikini top snapped off. It's probably the reason why this was the movie that made the most money.
10	* BrokenBase: Fans and critics argue over which film was the best in the series. Either way, it's always widdled between ''Film/CarryOnCamping'', ''Film/CarryOnCleo'' and ''Film/CarryOnUpTheKhyber''.
11	* CreatorsPet: After the positive fan reception the ''Carry On'' producers had about Sid James, he became the gimmick that drew the audience in movie after movie.
12	* CriticalDissonance: The series divided audiences and critics by the time the 1970s rolled around. Although, after Creator/SidJames left, as well as Creator/TalbotRothwell, the critics and audience both began to argue over which movies were the ‘worst' post-1974.

It was so popular, it aired in the American cinemas three years after it was released.

Pretty cool, until you realise that this was the last film that Creator/SidJames ever did before his death two years after, after taking his hiatus from the series in order to do other projects. He quite literally rode off into the sunset out of the series.
33	** Some of Creator/CharlesHawtrey's characters became alcoholics as the series progressed into the '70s, and it was mostly PlayedForLaughs. Then it turns out that they were written like this on purpose because Hawtrey had become a heavy drinker due to his depression after his mother's death and his severe loneliness, and the production team allowed him to feed into his problem in order to save arguments. He was later fired for upsetting some of the actors in his drunken state.
34	** Creator/HattieJacques' characters sometimes received snide comments about being a [[BigBeautifulWoman large woman]], and later died in 1980 due to complications with her health and her struggles to lose weight.
35	** Creator/TerryScott's lecherous moments sour after he was outed before he died as having a "reputation" in the media industry.

[[spoiler:Even Miss Short is close to tears explaining the love the students, Wakefield refused to cane the students]].

75	** The theme song to ''Film/CarryOnEmmannuelle'' is about a man who is annoyed about his girlfriend always begging for sex, and despite wanting to do other things like going to a nightclub for the evening, he has sex with her because he fears that she will leave him if she thinks that he's "getting bored" of her.
76	** Creator/TerryScott in ''Film/CarryOnMatron'' trying to rape the disguised Cecil, who repeatedly refuses to date him. It's PlayedForLaughs, as if Cecil was actually a female, but was a typical joke that comedies used at the time.
77	** Adult men trying to win over teenage girls, although it's hard to tell because there is a lot of DawsonCasting in the series (since Sid James was in his fifties at the time, and was focused on thirty-something women pretending to be sixteen).
78	** Creator/BernardBresslaw, a white Jewish Cockney, portraying Southern Asian and/or black characters in {{blackface}}. It should be noted that in British media, white people in blackface was used up until the 1980s, what with the revival of the ''Black and White Minstrel Show'' on BBC.
79	* ValuesResonance: It's notable how many positive romantic characters do not fit the mould of [[HollywoodBeautyStandards conventional attractiveness]] in media. Hattie Jacques' romantic (and/or sexual) desires are rarely belittled or mocked because she's a fat woman, and 5'2" Kenneth Connor gets chased or pampered by amorous women. Meanwhile, Charles Hawtrey--a skinny, inoffensive man with large eyes and NerdGlasses--is often TheCasanova and fathers many children, and "[[Film/CarryOnRegardless face like a roadmap]]" Sid James has a MayDecemberRomance/seduction almost OnceAnEpisode.
