Renamed one trope.

* QuestionableCasting:
** Having men as old as Creator/SidJames pretending to be in their twenties, who wants to be the one who makes a woman his character's age (or teenage girl) lose her virginity for his own selfish need.
** Making white people play non-white characters by darkening their faces with make-up. Not to mention, actual non-white people appeared in background roles next to the fake non-whites, making the effect even more jarring.

* ValuesResonance: It's notable how many positive romantic characters do not fit the mould of conventional attractiveness in media. Hattie Jacques' romantic (and/or sexual) desires are rarely belittled or mocked because she's a fat woman, and 5'2 Kenneth Connor gets chased or pampered by amorous women. Meanwhile, Charles Hawtrey--a skinny, inoffensive man with large eyes and NerdGlasses--is often TheCasanova and fathers many children, and "face like a roadmap" Sid James has a MayDecemberRomance/seduction almost OnceAnEpisode.

* FranchiseOriginalSin: Inverted, in that most people assume that the movies were always filled with nudity and sex puns, but those didn't become a thing in the series until the 1970s (although there were double entendres before that, whether sexual or not).

* AcceptablePoliticalTargets: In the writers' eyes, the left-wing, pro-union Labour Party supporters, which is why Film/CarryOnAtYourConvenience made the trade union leader the villain. This joke from Film/CarryOnHenry that furthers the point:
-->Lord Hampton of Wick: Your Majesty! The Queen is in labour!\\
Henry VIII: [scoffs] Don't you worry. They'll never get in again.Fast forward to 1974...

Dork Age was renamed

* AudienceAlienatingEra: There isn't a really specified era which could be called this trope, but personal opinions about what part of the series that is seen as this is enough to begin a backlash between fans. What many can agree on, however, is that there were at least two or three eras of this trope.
** The Creator/BernardCribbins era (the two films Film/CarryOnJack and Film/CarryOnSpying) is considered this. With barely any of the actors that you recognise from when the series first began (only regulars Creator/CharlesHawtrey and Creator/KennethWilliams appear in it, whereas the rest of the roles are portrayed by actors you either never see again in the series, or didn't have a big enough role in their debut appearance to fall back onto in the first place), it's often overlooked (whether accidental or not), even though it was as successful as many of the other recognisable hits like Up the Khyber.
** Between Film/CarryOnSpying in 1964 and Film/CarryOnDoctor in 1967. When included, six films were made in the time frame, but even though they were also very popular, the four films between the aforementioned aren't always seen as important or memorable. It's not helpful that during the time, the films had to change their distributing company and then hit one of the first box-office bombs in the series when Creator/PhilSilvers failed to bring in the US audience to Film/FollowThatCamel!
** When the series branched out to television and stage in the mid-1970s. It wasn't helpful that the TV shows relied on a live-studio audience and the sitcom tropes that other TV shows were doing at the time. Also, many fan favourites barely appeared in either of them (to name a few: Kenneth Williams refused to be in either, Joan Sims refused to be in the stage productions, Creator/SidJames only appeared in a handful of TV episodes and one stage production due to contractual commitments with other media, and Creator/CharlesHawtrey had already been fired at the time for his alcoholism.)

* AluminiumChristmasTrees: Being a long-running comedy series from the mid-20th century, it's unsurprising that this trope will occur in at least every movie. For example, bus conductors and buckets of water to put out fires (Carry On Loving).

** Imogen Hassall's character in Film/CarryOnLoving only sparking interest in Terry Scott after she has a makeover (read: wears a short skirt with prominent cleavage) would unfortunately mirror Hassall's career. Known for being a MsFanservice, the film industry later discarded her (presumably for younger actresses), and other tragedies in her life led to her suicide in 1980.
