!!The Anime:
* CompleteMonster:
** [[MadScientist Dr. Mechadoc]] ([[AdaptationNameChange renamed Dr. Mechard]]), while initially appearing to be working under [[BigBad Bagura]], is actually far more sinister. Bitter at Bagura for stealing his work, even when Bagura told him it didn't work, he had [[TheStarscream been plotting behind the scenes to overthrow him]], and ultimately, he planned to use his work to cause two planets to collide, which would kill an unimaginable amount of people. Despite seemingly being TheDragon, he usurps the role from Bagura of BigBad and is one of the few characters in ''Jetters'' with no redeeming qualities to speak of.
** MAX, Mechard's final creation and also known as MA-10, manages to be nearly as bad as his creator. Willingly going along with his plan of [[OmnicidalManiac colliding two planets]], killing millions of people, he develops a strong hatred and rivalry to one of Mechard's old prototypes, MA-0. This comes to a head at the end of the series, where he abandons his creator to kill Zero. At the end of this fight, MAX performs his worst deed of his own accord: once he and Zero are dying, he writes his own data into Zero so he can hijack Zero's body, forcing Shirobon to [[KickTheDog kill Zero, one of his friends, to permanently eliminate MAX]]. Despite not coming close to Mechard in his resources, he makes a name for himself in the series and manages to be nearly as vile.
* EnsembleDarkHorse:
** Birdy has a LOT of fans for his cool design and combining a stern nature with being a warm surrogate big brother to Bomberman.
** On the villain side, Dolphin Bomber is the most well-liked of the Combined Bombers for her fun personality, being just plain ridiculous, and for... [[BuxomBeautyStandard two other reasons]].
* RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap: Many fans could't stand how selfish and stupid Bomberman is early on, but many also completely forgive his earlier brattiness when his CharacterDevelopment kicks in and when he [[TheWoobie starts going through A LOT of tragedy]].
* SuspiciouslySimilarSong: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aZaSgnYLceQ Mujoe's theme]] is basically just the [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_V2sBURgUBI theme song]] to ''Series/{{Seinfeld}}'' in a different key. ''Seinfeld'' composer Jonathan Wolff commented on this.
-->'''Wolff:''' It is certainly unauthorized and unlicensed. Glad it's not my job to police that.
* TheyChangedItNowItSucks: MAX's InNameOnly portayal tends to be the most often criticized aspect.

!!The [=GameCube=] video game:
* AdaptationDisplacement: Inevitable when the anime it was based on [[NoExportForYou never left Japan]], so this certainly happened to some extent.
* AnnoyingVideoGameHelper: Your team ''never'' stops. Shout is the worst offender of the group as she calls you ''multiple'' times in all the levels, her 'advice' is usually either pointing out the obvious or making random comments about the surroundings.
* AudienceAlienatingEra: While the anime is a decisive affair, the video game is generally agreed to be one of the worst parts of the series slump in the 2000s.
* CharacterRerailment: The game puts MAX back on the heroes' side and acts as if he were never a villain to begin with. Bomberman himself is also more competent and less of a brat.
* {{Narm}}: The English version of the game has terrible voice acting and localization.
* {{Sequelitis}}: The game is considered worse than ''Generation'' by both fans and critics, being a MissionPackSequel to ''Generation'' released more than a year later that downgrades nearly every aspect of its predecessor.
* SoBadItsGood: The voice acting can be this at times, especially with "Superhero Birdy", Japanese-stereotype Gangu, the extremely bored-sounding Max, and Thunder Bomber. [[ZigZaggedTrope Some say]] however, that Momo in Bomber Mansion mode is voiced surprisingly well in comparison.
* ThatOneAttack: The only practical way to avoid getting hit by [[FinalBoss Kirin/War Horse's]] ShockwaveStomp attack is to use Ceedrun's barrier to block it. If you didn't level up Ceedrun to Level 3, you're going to be taking several cheap hits over the course of the battle, and even if you did, it'll be a pain to switch to Ceedrun every time you notice the boss winding up for it.
* TheyChangedItNowItSucks: Very few fans like the changes that ''Jetters'' makes to ''Generation's'' single-player formula. The cap for each power-up is lower, making the game feel more sluggish and limited. Character swapping would be cool [[ScrappyMechanic if not for how cumbersome MAX's Hyper Plasma Bomb is]]. Also, Charabom battling is completely eliminated. Multiplayer fares slightly better, as ''Jetters'' characters are made playable with each one having a unique ability.
