* AlternateCharacterInterpretation:
** Was Butterscotch crying out of genuine remorse for his actions? Or was he trying to manipulate Beatrice in a different way?
** Is Joseph implicitly threatening to lobotomise his daughter, or is he simply warning her of the consequences of falling victim to "womanly emotions", namely becoming a ruin of herself?
* AluminumChristmasTrees: The servants burning all of Beatrice's belongings wasn't random cruelty, this was an actual procedure for cases of Scarlet Fever. As this was a particularly contagious disease and antibiotics weren't widely available yet, not doing so could cause the rest of the household to get infected. It seems especially cruel from the viewpoint of Beatrice, as she would be too young to understand why her things had to go, although her father does not go through with burning her belongings and beloved baby doll in the best way.
* CryForTheDevil:
** After being portrayed as a cruel monster of a mother since season 1, we finally see Beatrice for what she really is: a woman who'd been mistreated for her entire life and was forever resentful of the ultimately bad decisions she made as an adult.
** Despite being an equally lousy father figure and husband, many people felt bad seeing Butterscotch cry over his own mistake, along with the fact that, along with Beatrice, he did genuinely want to make their relationship and family work after getting her pregnant, as showcased in the scene where the two spin a tale of what their life could be together before Butterscotch proposes marriage.
* FridgeHorror: Beatrice kept her pregnancy to compensate for her favorite doll being taken and burned after catching scarlet fever. Henrietta is shown feeling the same grief Beatrice felt when she had to give up Hollyhock and the former not letting her hold her. If we go by these parallels, there's a good chance Henrietta would go on to make the same mistakes Beatrice made - which is dramatic irony as Beatrice believed what she was doing would prevent Henrietta from ending up like her.
* SugarWiki/HeReallyCanAct:
** Both Creator/WillArnett and Creator/WendieMalick are in fine form here. Not only does Malick sound exactly like someone with generations of experience weighing on her chest, but Arnett has just the right tinge of kindness in his voice to the point that he might as well have been talking to his own mother.
** Even people who aren't huge fans of Creator/MatthewBroderick admitted that he sounded genuinely creepy in the scene where Joseph burned all of Beatrice's toys, if only because [[DissonantSerenity his monotone yet cheerful voice clashed with such a creepy and depressing scene]].
