* AlternateCharacterInterpretation: Why does [[spoiler:Lauren Wilcox]], who is later established as a DirtyCop, urge Gordon to [[spoiler:shoot Two-Face when he has a gun to her head and will likely take her with him if he is shot? Is she just playing a part while being confident that either Two-Face will surrender or Gordon won't be able to shoot his old friend? Is she that devoted to her Falcone employers (who hate Two-Face)? Or is she making a brief effort at atonement for her crimes?]]
* AntiClimaxBoss:
** After two story arcs of building him up as a creepy Lecter-style figure, [[spoiler:Calendar Man takes a beating off-panel from Sofia Falcone and the police find him unconscious]].
** After serving as the BigBad for the whole story, [[spoiler: Two-Face is unceremoniously shot by the Joker... who himself is taken down by a single whack from Robin’s bo staff.]]
* ContestedSequel: Either it's better than ''The Long Halloween'' because the story is better paced and introduces Robin or it's inferior for [[ItsTheSameNowItSucks rehashing the same storyline]].
* FridgeBrilliance: The story once again having the killer strike on holidays, and the exact same ones that occurred in the previous story, may seem overly repetitive and unoriginal. However, when you think about it the Hangman killer was likely intentionally striking on the same days that Holiday did [[spoiler:in order to throw suspicion toward Alberto and continue drawing suspicion away from herself.]]
* HarsherInHindsight: Mario Falcone's desire to remake his family name into something legitimate became this as [[spoiler: several comics before ''ComicBook/{{New 52}}'' showed that he ultimately became every bit the criminal his father and sister were (and finally got killed by Two-Face just like they were).]]
* SugarWiki/HeartwarmingMoments: [[spoiler: The story ends with Dick Grayson joining Batman as Robin, punctuated with this quote from Batman:]]
--> '''Batman:''' [[spoiler: I made a promise to my parents that I would rid this city of the evil that took their lives. That remains unchanged. Only now… I am no longer alone.]]
** Alfred’s YouAreNotAlone moment with Dick, reassuring the boy in a way he regrets he didn’t with a young Bruce when he had the chance.
* SugarWiki/MomentOfAwesome:
** Two-Face escapes from court in broad daylight under Batman's nose with a delicious setup that came out of nowhere.
--->'''Two-Face''' [''interrupting questioning'']: "What time do you have?"\
'''Batman''' [''thinking'']: Something's wrong. Two-Face is wearing a watch.\
'''Porter, The New District Attorney''': "Two o' Clock"\
''Courtroom explodes as Mr. Freeze, Poison Ivy, and Solomon Grundy come bursting through the floor.''\
'''Two-Face''': I move for a recess.
** Mario Falcone seizing all of Sofia's assets, including her penthouse and her right to ''use her own family name'', and telling her that ''to her face and from behind the door of her own penthouse''.
* NarmCharm: Tim Sale this time around draws Joker’s teeth as comically long to where a single tooth is longer than his nose. While it makes him look a tad goofy compared to the more normal-looking characters, it also makes him and his SlasherSmile look extremely unsettling, if not terrifying, which works wonders for a [[AxCrazy guy like Joker]].
* TearJerker: The conclusion of Mario's role in the story. He really wanted to legitimize the Falcone family, but was thwarted by his sister, and by all the destruction wreaked by the Rogues Gallery. His last appearance in the story is of him burning down the family mansion, and sitting on the front steps with a gut-wrenching expression of defeat. Batman's narration clinches it - "I once believed that the end of the Falcone Organization would come with a broken woman in a wheelchair. I was wrong. It ended with a broken man."
* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodCharacter:
** Lucia Vitti is the cousin of the Falcone siblings, has issues over the deaths of her mother and brother in the Holiday killings, has her own families (both in the criminal and biological senses) outside of Gotham, and ominously reaches out to the Maronis to build a private alliance, but ultimately has almost no dialogue or major characterization and only has about four brief appearances in the arc.
** Stan Merkel TheFaceless finally gets his face shown and some welcome additional characterization (and a backstory of having once arrested Falcone WhiteSheep Mario in his wild youth), but is yet another BackForTheDead SacrificialLamb after just one page.
** The colorful team of investigators Gordon assembles are all interesting characters who get to do little investigating or fighting onscreen and are mostly there to serve as contrarians toward Batman or RedShirt Hangman victims who weren’t even originally targeted but keep getting killed anyway. Sharpshooter O'Connor and ex-marine Gustavson never get a chance to demonstrate their touted combat skills and are never shown in their offscreen BodyguardingABadass duties after the attempted murder of Gordon.
* TheUnTwist: TheMole in the Five Families [[spoiler:is Mario, the one member already established as being opposed to their continued criminal endeavors.]]
