* AssPull:
** [[spoiler:The EverybodyLives finale]]. Especially since that means [[spoiler:the five supposed deaths, two of which happened in episode 6, were all given an UnexplainedRecovery, except Haru, who survived in the end because she had ''ribs made of titanium''.]]
** Some of the character's closing moments in [[spoiler:the epilogue]] come out of nowhere with no development and really clash with how the characters were seen before that. For example, [[spoiler:Mahiru is, by the epilogue, no longer afraid of the light and doesn't need to rely on Shinya anymore]], even though her previous scene had [[spoiler:her relying on Shinya and being incapacitated by strong light]].
*** The manga fixes this by instead having [[spoiler: her living with Hanabusa as a maid.]]
* BrokenBase:
** The [[spoiler:EverybodyLives ending]] has split fans, saying that it was not only an AssPull, but also served to [[spoiler:make the rest of the show's events pointless]]. Others are more forgiving since the alternative would have been [[spoiler:one hell of a DownerEnding to an already bleak series]].
* DieForOurShip: Several Suzu/Kouko fans tend to dislike the man Suzu had a previous relationship with, generally over how he abandoned her for another woman. Which is funny since the ending implies he is indeed dead.
* EnsembleDarkhorse:
** [[ShrinkingViolet Mahiru]] and [[AxCrazy Shinya]] [[SplitPersonality Banba]], [[TheTrickster Nio]], and [[TomboyWithAGirlyStreak Haruki]] are rather popular with viewers.
** Sumireko was one of the least fan favorites until her attempt in [[spoiler:episode 10]], mostly because before she just sat around in the background and did nothing. Her episode immediately won her a sizable amount of love from fans.
** Kouko also got a fair bit of this for being the only Class Black assassin [[spoiler:to actually kill someone on-screen]].
* EpilepticTrees:
** A popular theory was that all the assassins that failed to kill Haru were killed off screen, based on the cliché that [[YouHaveOutLivedYourUsefulness failed assassins become the new target]], and Otoya and Nio's final scene certainly looked to follow the theory. [[spoiler:Otoya's return after breaking out of prison in Episode 10]] proves the theory [[spoiler:false]]. This was even further proven [[spoiler:false]] when [[spoiler:everyone, even [[DisneyDeath the assassins who had supposedly died]], were shown to be alive and well in the final episode.]]
** Another theory is that [[spoiler:since Chitaru drank Hitsugi's poison and died]], [[spoiler:Shiena]], who was [[spoiler:shot by Hitsugi with the same poison before, should have been killed by it as well]]. Again, [[spoiler:the ending proved that to be false.]]
** An early theory about why Nio never showed any skin said that she was some sort of robot, in keeping with the futuristic theme, the fact that [[spoiler:Otoya]] seemed terrified of her, and the fact that her IdiotHair [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking stayed perfect even at the pool]].
** The [[spoiler:reveal that the Kuzunoha clan could create illusions]], as well as the events of [[spoiler:the ending]], had half the fandom theorizing that [[spoiler:Tokaku wished that everyone was alive and well in the end, and had that wish granted via the Kuzunoha's illusion powers.]]
** Before the last few episodes revealed the whole deal behind [[spoiler:Haru]]'s situation, it was commonly speculated that she was a ruthless killer in disguise, a living training target for the assassins, or various other similar theories.
* HilariousInHindsight: One of the rumors about Class Black is that it is a class of idol girls. Some of the assassins are voiced by idol seiyuus. This also crosses with QuestionableCasting, as [[Creator/AzumiAsakura Isuke]] was once a [[Anime/TheIdolMaster shy, androphobic idol girl]]. Doubles as a CastingGag.
* LauncherOfAThousandShips: Otoya has been shipped with Shiena, Haru, Banba, Nio and Sumireko, and that's when she's only appeared in a few episodes.
* MemeticBadass: [[spoiler:Sumireko]], so much so that right after her star episode, fans immediately started comparing her to Steven Armstrong of ''VideoGame/MetalGearRisingRevengeance'' due to their revelations (and even ''how'' they revealed themselves) as [[spoiler:being more just than normal humans. Steven showed himself to have nanomachines that can turn him into a giant hulk before he fought the cyborg [[TheProtagonist Raiden]]. In Hanabusa's case, it's ironic because she showed herself to be a powerful cyborg.]] Hence, see MemeticMutation below.
* MemeticMutation: "[[VideoGame/MetalGearRisingRevengeance Nanomachines]], Tokaku." Later changed to: "[[spoiler:[[AssPull Titanium ribs]]]], Tokaku."
* OT3: The main trio of Tokaku[=/=]Haru[=/=]Nio, and then Hitsugi[=/=]Chitaru[=/=]Shiena.
* OvertookTheManga: The anime caught up with the manga around episode 5. Unlike other examples of this, though, the anime is based on the manga's original drafts, meaning it still follows the manga's plot despite the manga chapters not even being out yet. The manga, however, features several scenes between characters that the anime doesn't have, has more fleshed-out characters, and is more forward with the characters' sexualities and orientations. Some scenes in the anime have been changed around, though the anime also features scenes (such as Kouko's backstory) that the manga doesn't have or doesn't elaborate on. As such, it's best to experience both to get the full story.
* PortmanteauCoupleName: Tokaharu for Tokaku/Haru, Chitahitsu for Chitaru/Hitsugi, and Harusuke for Haruki/Isuke.
* {{Shipping}}: All roommates are commonly paired together: Tokaku and Haru, Isuke and Haruki, Kouko and Suzu, Chitaru and Hitsugi, Shiena and Otoya, Sumireko and Banba. Nio, who doesn't have a roommate, is instead paired with the chairwoman Meichi, who she shares a lot of subtext with.
* TheyChangedItNowItSucks: The anime adaptation is criticized because of Haru's {{chickification}} and holding of the IdiotBall, neither of which were present in the original.
* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodCharacter: Out of all the assassins in the anime, [[spoiler:Shiena]] has the least characterization. You'll have to read the manga to know more about her. She is also the only assassin who doesn't have an ImageSong of her own, not even as a bonus track on the [=CDs=].
* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot:
** The reveal that [[spoiler:Nio has full-body Kuzunoha tattoos]]. Some fans were disappointed by this, believing that [[spoiler:it was there to give her some MaleGaze fanservice]] and nothing else, especially since it was never fully explained or expanded on. Subsequently, they found [[spoiler:Otoya]]'s reaction to it, in an earlier episode, to be overexaggerating.
** Kaiba's riddles that Tokaku periodically receives are revealed to be [[spoiler:Kaiba encouraging her to become independent and find her own answers instead of relying on others]]. Some fans found this reveal to be rather lacking, especially the emphasis given on the riddles in the first few episodes.
** Nio mentions in an early episode to Haruki that [[spoiler:Haru was personally responsible for the slaughter of her own family]]. Nothing ever comes of this, and later episodes eventually debunk it, leaving some to wonder why it was brought up at all.
