Context YMMV / AbnormalSummit

Go To

* BaseBreakingCharacter: A good amount of the more outspoken members tend to be like this.
** Zhang Yuan, the original Chinese representative, tends to put people off with his excessive nationalism, especially in the earlier episodes. However, he shows a bit of CharacterDevelopment as he becomes more open-minded towards other perspectives, and was known for his cute facial expressions and singing.
** Enes' frank viewpoints made him a darling for a substantial amount of fans...but it also turned a lot of people away from him due to his perceived stubbornness. Those same conservative viewpoints also played a role in his downfall as [[{{Hypocrite}}he wasn't able to live up to them]].
* BrokenBase:
** Whenever the cast changes, some people wondered whether their replacements were better than the ones whom already left. This was especially prominent with the first cast change in June 2015, where a good number of the original cast and some fan favorites left.
** What gets discussed about, along with the segments, also tends to split the fanbase as well.
* EnsembleDarkhorse: Despite not talking as much as certain members, there's always at least one of these within the panel.
** Daniel Snoeks, the original Australian representative, didn't get a lot of speaking time in his 17 episodes on Abnormal Summit, but he garnered himself with a number of fans.
** Takuya gets this reputation, partially because of his IdolSinger status (accompanied with his dance from "Amazing--Bad Lady") and his fine fingers.
** While not outspoken, Andreas, the Greek representative, became well known for his facial expressions when reacting to something.
** Yuta wasn't initially liked by the fans, because of his relative inexperience and his role as a rookie at SM. But as time went on, he became admired through his progressive positions (showing concern for transgender people, for example), his charming looks, and his dance moves.
* FanNickname: "Ausniel" (Australian Daniel) and "Gerniel" (German Daniel) for Daniel Snoeks and Daniel Lindemann to differentiate each other when the latter arrived in episode 5.
* [[FirstGirlWins First Group Wins]]: The original cast is considered to be the best, even though the post-June 2016 cast gets positive reviews as well.
* HarsherInHindsight:
** In episode 3, Shin Hae-Chul, a famous rock star, arrived as a guest to discuss about dreams. Not even three months after the episode premiered, he was dead due to medical malpractice.
** In episode 2, the hosts bantered about being able to switch the panelists with the number of foreigners available. However, a couple more quotes drive this trope further:
** " It's okay to replace half of them at once." Becomes a lot less funny after June 2015, where half of the cast, including some fan-favorites, ended up leaving in an apparent reshuffling. The fans were not okay with that.
** "Enes may be our treasure, but he could be cut for inappropriate remarks." And they weren't even on the show; instead, they were with women whom he dated while married.
** During the Chuseok episode, Enes gives Julian a pair of shoes. He jokes about them telling the later to "pack up and leave". Becomes a lot less hilarious when you realize in Korean culture, giving a pair of shoes means they would split apart. In addition, Enes left the show at the end of 2014 and never returned since.
* HilariousInHindsight: When Daniel Lindemann first appeared, he mentioned how Germany won the World Cup that year. Four years later, [[http://kpopkfans.blogspot.com/2018/06/daniels-reactions-before-after-germany.html however...]]
* MemeticMutation:
** Sam's "anindee" (it's not right) pose made waves throughout the entire series.
** Also, the "Turk pose" from episode 8.
** Blair's imitation of a grandmother became famous, and was revisited in the 100th episode.
* TearJerker:
** Again, whenever they mention their families--for example, in episode 12, Julian got to make a video call with his parents, whom he hasn't seen for a long time.
** Whenever any of the representatives leave--as they developed a close friendship with each other, it was bittersweet to see them go.
** At the end of episode 6, Enes talks about his close friend's mother, and how he wasn't able to see her before she died of an illness.
** At the end of episode 7, the whole discussion about homosexuality, as one of the representatives that day was gay. Regardless of the positions of the individual members, the whole conversation made everyone cry a bit.
** When the representatives had to write their wills at the end of episode 18, and then read them out to their friends.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kTmSCfiIqAU Andreas' message to Greece telling them to stay strong]] at the end of episode 57, as they were one of the hardest hit countries of the economic crises' there.
