* DiagnosedByTheAudience:
** This show's version of Queen Victoria seems to be High-Functioning Autistic.
*** Victoria is frequently shown having issues with social skills and court etiquette, such as when she accidentally disrespected her horse guards by turning her back on them, or when she humiliated a terminally-ill Lady Flora Hastings just because she wanted dirt on Conroy.
*** If the "jump up and down 10 times to avoid getting pregnant" advice was meant sarcastically or as a joke, then Victoria could be considered LiteralMinded.
*** Victoria seems to depend on LivingEmotionalCrutch figures for comfort (eg. Lord M, Albert, Dash, Skerrett, etc.), becoming depressed to the point of near-catatonia when they die or leave.
*** If this show's version of Victoria is indeed Autistic, [[DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything then the Kensington System and subsequent schemes to control her become evocative of the abuse, infantilization, and undermining of personal autonomy that Autistic people constantly face]].
** Albert also has moments where he seems Autistic, especially when he starts geeking out over trains with Sir Robert Peel, or fanboys over Ada Lovelace. Obsession over maths and sciences is a known Autistic trait, after all.
** In Season 3, Bertie is heavily implied to be Dyslexic.
** Ernest displays clear signs of clinical depression after [[spoiler: contracting an STD]].
* HarsherInHindsight: A major subplot of the 2017 Christmas special, "Comfort and Joy", set in the late 1840s, involves Albert trying to create the perfect Christmas for his family, so that Christmas would always be a magical time of year. Albert, however, is destined to die just before Christmas in 1861, casting a permanent pall upon the season for Victoria.
* HilariousInHindsight: Laurence Fox's speeches as Palmerston take on a different tone now that he's gotten involved in politics in real life.
* IdiosyncraticShipNaming: A very rare case of a biographical series dramatizing real-life events generating not only Ship naming, but even ShipToShipCombat (see below). Daisy Goodwin and others involved in the production of the series have gone so far as to use these terms themselves: Vicbourne refers to Victoria and Lord Melbourne (Lord M), a relationship depicted as semi-romantic in nature; Vicbert refers to Victoria and Prince Albert, who of course married in real life and whose romance drives the majority of the series once the Lord M arc concludes midway through Series 1.
* JustHereForGodzilla: A lot of viewers only watched the show because it starred Jenna Coleman.
** Or for the romance between Queen Victoria and Lord M.
* SeasonalRot: Season 3 was not as well liked as the first two seasons, with several characters being PutOnABus (including the Duchess of Kent, Cumberland, and Mr. Francatelli), [[spoiler: Skerrett]] being KilledOffForReal, the introduction of [[TheThingThatWouldNotLeave Feodora of Langenburg]] (Queen Victoria's half-sister) as a ReplacementScrappy for the Duchess of Kent, and the introduction of marital problems between Victoria and Albert. One of the few upsides to this season is the late introduction of Lord Palmerston.
