* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic: Brides soundtrack is often praised as a "greatest hits" collection of the 80's and late 90's. In particular:
** Music/RobZombie's "Living Dead Girl," a banger in its own right that also establishes Tiffany's character.
** Similarly there's Music/Band's "Call Me," which is used during Tiff's makeover.
* BrokenBase: This film divided the fandom between the largely straight-faced original trilogy and the DenserAndWackier direction this film and Seed would follow. A third group likes the former, but believes that the change in tone was necessary in a post-Film/Scream world, especially after Film/ChildsPlay3 underperformed.
* EvilIsCool: Chucky exhibits this appeal a lot more than in previous films, especially because of his stitched makeover.
* FanonDiscontinuity: Some fans of the original trilogy don't consider this film nor Seed canon.
* FridgeBrilliance:
** It makes sense for Michael Myers' mask to be in an evidence locker: this film and H20 were released in the same year, and
** Chucky alludes to Pinhead when looking at . Considering who Chucky is and the number of times he died, Hell he had spend his downtime somewhere.
** The above could double as a retroactive reference to Chucky's time in the Entity's realm along with Pinhead, seeing as the game's Chucky is explicitly from Child's Play 2.
* FridgeHorror: Andy no doubt heard about the events of this film on the news, especially how Charles Lee Ray's fingerprints were found at the crime scenes. Imagine how he felt, knowing that his old nemesis had come back from the dead yet again. No wonder he was so CrazyPrepared at the end of Curse.
** When Jesse picked the dolls up from Tiffany's trailer, he would have discovered her body in the bathtub if he had investigated any further.
* HarsherInHindsight: When Tiffany dies, The Bride of Frankenstein is on the TV. Specifically, it's the scene where the Bride rejects her mate. Becomes very harsh in Film/SeedOfChucky when .
* HilariousInHindsight:
** John Ritter plays a comically overprotective, Jerkass uncle. It makes his eventual, and sadly, final role in Series/EightSimpleRules look tame by comparison.
** Director Ronnie Yu would later work with John Ritter's son, Jason, on Film/FreddyVsJason, a film that is foreshadowed here given Freddy's glove and a hockey mask appearing in the evidence locker room.
** Michael Myers' mask from Franchise/Halloween makes an appearance in this film along with a song by Music/RobZombie during the opening credits, which is interesting as Creator/BradDourif, the voice of Chucky, would later play Sheriff Leigh Brackett in Zombie's remake Film/Halloween2007 and its sequel Film/HalloweenII2009.
** When explaining to Jesse and Jade their plans after they abduct them, Chucky says that it's complicated and that if it were a movie, "it would take about three or four sequels to do it justice". This film has had three direct sequels and a reboot.
** The film's poster spoofs Film/Scream 2. Brad Dourif, this film's killer, would later costar with Creator/TimothyOlyphant, Scream 2s , in Series/Deadwood. Also, while Chucky's nemesis and original owner was Andy Barclay, the Creator/LaurieMetcalf had played a mother who also has child named Andy whose toys also come to life.
** When Chucky tells Tiffany that getting the Heart of Damballa isn't that simple since they're dolls, sarcastically saying, "I'll steer and you can work the pedals." That's exactly what Chucky and Glen do in follow-up Seed of Chucky, ramming Music/BritneySpears off the road in the process.
** In the climax, Chucky dares Jade to shoot him, boasting that "I'll be back! I ALWAYS COME BACK!!" The humor is enhanced by the fact that both Chucky and Afton are human serial killers that turned themselves into Animate Inanimate Objects of ShowWithinAShow children's entertainment brands.
* JerkassWoobie: Tiffany, while a SerialKiller just like her husband, genuinely cares for him and doesn't realize she's in a toxic relationship until it's too late.
* TheScrappy: You'll hardly find someone who considers Jesse and Jade their favorite human protagonists of the series, let alone liking them to begin with. They're Vanilla Protagonists at best, and a bland couple who spews clichéd and Glurge saccarine romantic talk to each other yet are quick to suspect the other of murder at worst. Even though Bride is intentionally turning Chucky into a VillainProtagonist, Jesse and Jade have had many fans genuinely RootingForTheEmpire given how bland and unconvincing they are as a couple.
* SpecialEffectsFailure:
** The tarantula that falls on Damien's face has a rather noticeable white line surrounding it.
** When ends up being struck by a truck, the "body parts" come flying off from another direction a split-second before gets hit. It's as if they were into the scene and superimposed to look like just exploded on impact.
** Tiffany's plate of cookies tilts over at one point, but the cookies don't fall off.
** The overhead views during Chucky and Tiffany's fight. It's clear that two little people are taking place of the dolls.
* SpiritualAdaptation: This film can be considered a Film/Scream film featuring killer dolls, due to its Postmodernism horror film ShoutOut humor and the poster advertising the fourth installment parodying the Film/Scream 2 poster.
* Squick: Chucky and Tiffany's sex scene. While also hilarious and only portrayed via silhouette, the very idea of two serial killer dolls having sex is enough to make anyone gag.
* SurprisinglyImprovedSequel: Divisive as this film is, critics gave it better reviews than 3 and even 2. Many of them found the comedy elements to be an improvement, as well as the parallels with Film/BrideOfFrankenstein.
