* {{Asspull}}: During the climax, the Pope summons a giant [[Myth/EgyptianMythology Anubis-like statue]] to fight the surviving Gold Saints.
* BigLippedAlligatorMoment: Deathmask's VillainSong upon his introduction feels like one.
* FanNickname: The OneWingedAngel version of [[spoiler: Saga]] towards the end has been renamed [[spoiler: Sagazilla]].
* SugarWiki/HeartwarmingMoments: [[spoiler:TheStinger, with the Bronze Saints throwing a birthday party for Saori.]]
* HilariousInHindsight: Remember the [[http://saintseiya.wikia.com/wiki/Sagittarius_Cloth?file=Sagittarius_Cloth_first.png first version of the Saggitarius Gold Cloth]], which had a helmet covering almost the entire face? As the second trailer shows, in this movie the helmets of the Bronze Saints (And some of the Golden Saints as well) do the same thing.
* ItWasHisSled: [[spoiler:Gemini Saga is alive and well -- oh, and he's the real villain behind everything.]] Although, granted, it ''is'' done in a more subtle way than in the original manga and anime, which gave it away so clearly that it was barely a mystery by the third Temple.
* ItsTheSameNowItSucks: Many fans weren't exactly thrilled with ''another'' revisit to the Sanctuary arc.
* NeverLiveItDown: [[spoiler:Aphrodite and Death Mask still get the short end of the stick in the movie.]]
* RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap:
** Saori. She is nicer toward the Bronze Saints than her manga and anime counterparts, and unlike in previous versions the arrow in her heart gradually weakens her rather than putting her in a coma, meaning she is still awake for most of the movie and actually tries the best she can to help them directly. Not that she can do much beside healing them and trying to reason with the Gold Saints, but still, the effort is appreciated.
** Her butler, Tatsumi, is much more likable here than his manga counterpart, where he is a {{Gonk}} [[WouldHurtAChild child beater]] and a {{Jerkass}} towards anyone but Saori and Mitsumasa Kido.
* TheyChangedItNowItSucks:
** The reaction to some of the new redesigns of the characters, particularly the Gold Saints.
** The GenderFlip of [[spoiler:Milo]] caused this reaction among several fans of the character and purists fans of the original ''Manga/SaintSeiya''.
** Deathmask's redesign looking like [[Franchise/PiratesOfTheCaribbean Jack Sparrow]], alongside his [[CharacterExaggeration extreme personality change]] of being a very sadistic villain to a LaughablyEvil but still sadistic antagonist with his house serving with a VillainSong was not well received.
** [[spoiler:Saga turning into a ''giant monster'' in the climax. Wut?!]]
* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodCharacter:
** Because of the severe CompressedAdaptation, many characters ended up with very reduced goals. Interestingly enough, the three characters with this criticism are related.
** Andromeda Shun. While all Bronze Saints have their characters simplified yet still having their signature moment from the 12 Houses arc, Shun is the exception, as his fight with Aphrodite - an interesting villain in the source material, is cut. In the movie, Aphrodite goes KO after two lines and doesn't even throw a single punch.
** A lot of [[GermansLoveDavidHasselhoff non-Japanese fans]] weren't pleased to find that Ikki didn't have a super-badass SugarWiki/MomentOfAwesome, like he usually did in both the previous movies and the series as a whole.
