Most of those are explained in behind-the-scenes Lives on Twitch and on the "The Tier List of Crappy Games".

!!General
* According to "The Tier List of Crappy Games"[[note]]in the original full version available on Twitch, not in the shortened version uploaded on the Youtube channel[[/note]] and other livestreams, the initial premise of ''Joueur du Grenier'' wasn't crappy old games but crappy Flash/Free-to-Play games, because they were afraid of getting comparisons with the Angry Video Game Nerd. They even completed a full episode with this premise, but never released it.
** This pilot episode had the show called ''Big Review'', of which the title, along its theme song, was a parody of French singer Carlos's song ''Big Bisou''. It is possible that Fred wearing a Hawaiian shirt was deliberately inspired by this Carlos gimmick, to go along the fact he was overweight and bearded. Of this episode, only a reaction shot clip survives, which was reused for the ''Tintin in Tibet'' episode (and by extension, the channel's icon and logo).
** After working on a second {{review}}, Fred and Seb decided that they preferred to review retro games after all. Until the day they started shooting their first episode, they hadn't even decided who among Fred and Seb would be the [=JdG=] and who would be the off-screen sidekick, finally settling on their respective roles ten minutes before the camera rolled. Fred mused there was a parallel universe in which [=JdG=] were reviewing flash games, beating Squeezie to the punch and another where Seb was [=JdG=] and Fred was David Goodenough. Fred being [=JdG=] was only decided because Seb was more camera-shy.
* Fred revealed that he and Seb wrote the first episode together and only decided who would host the show on the actual day of shooting, a dozen minutes before starting. Fred only went in because Seb was less comfortable being in front of the camera.
--> '''Fred:''' There's an alternate universe in which Seb is wearing the yellow shirt and I'm Fred the cameraman.
* One episode was going to have Seb as the reviewer, but they couldn't find the right plot/excuse for it. Seb would eventually take the role of the reviewer for a short section of the ''[[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaCDiGames Zelda CDi]]'' episode and ''Toilet Tycoon'' in the simulation games episode.
* It was planned to upgrade the intro at some point, but they didn't want to go through the trouble. Plus, Fred thinks the datedness/irrelevancy of the intro makes it funny.

!!Cancelled projects
* There was going to be a review of ''VideoGame/TheGooniesII'' in the early run of the show, which is why some footage of the game is in the intro. However, Fred said in a (now lost) forum post that they started a video on the game, but simply didn't have enough material to make a review out of it. The mysterious ''Goonies II'' footage was mentioned in the ''VideoGame/XPerts'' episode, where JDG says that this was because he rushed the making of the intro, and that the game itself was actually fine.
* An FAQ episode jokingly says that they planned to review the Sega Genesis ''Marsupilami'' game, but the tail-focused gameplay would lead to too many distracting DoubleEntendre jokes. In reality, the game didn't get a proper review because they didn't find it that bad, and wouldn't give enough material for an episode.
* He had planned a second episode based on Disney video games. However, his script would require it to be filmed at an empty actual Disney amusement park... which would be very difficult and very expensive to do.
* One ''Papy Grenier'' episode was planned to be about ''Franchise/TombRaider''. However, Fred couldn't find a satisfactory script. After the bad reception of the ''Zelda'' episode, he knew he had to play a major role in the game's reenactment scenes. Problem: either he plays Lara Croft himself, which would be too awkward and distracting... or he plays a pervy cameraman who follows her around, but it would be difficult to write something around it. There eventually was a ''Tomb Raider''-themed video (released in June 2021), but it was a ''Joueur du Grenier'' test instead of a ''Papy Grenier''. The mid-review story features Fred as a male counterpart of Lara called "Laurent Croft" while the skits parodying the games have been made with an actress in the role.
* Fred wanted to shoot a revenge video on ''Brad Stallion in Sex Olympics'' (first featured in the "Valentine video"), but ultimately decided to not do it, fearing it would mean trouble to his channels (it's an erotic game).
* In early 2021, Fred told a story that happened eight years prior about an episode of ''Papy Grenier'' on ''VideoGame/SimCity2013'' that never saw the light of day. The video in question was to be sponsored by EA, was fully completed, and ended with an out-of-character Fred giving the game an objective review, which, considering what game we are talking about, wasn't all flattering. Not only did EA break off the deal, but they also threatened to contact Machinima and force them to shut down JDG's [=YouTube=] channel.
* Fred had a cancelled project to make an ''Asterix''-themed episode which Mid-Review Sketch was a WholePlotReference based on ''WesternAnimation/TheTwelveTasksOfAsterix''. The BigBad was supposed to be a Roman played by videogame journalist Marcus (because of his Latin-sounding stage name).
* A series about flaws inherent to the 32-bits era 3D games, had been considered. It was notably supposed to give technical explainations about why those issues were present and couldn't be avoided. The first episode was intended to be about camera controls.
* Fred revealed he declined a proposition to make a ''Hogwart's Legacy'' live featuring James and Oliver Phelps (Fred and George's Weasley's actors in the ''Harry Potter'' movie), justifying he isn't fan of celebrity cameos for the sake of it, and the video would have been awkward since he didn't know what they could have chat about.
* The sequel to ''Comics 2'' is on indefinite hiatus. The planned actress for the BigBad, French former politician [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nathalie_Kosciusko-Morizet Nathalie Kosciusko-Morizet]] cast as herself, has been approached by Fred and expressed interest but won't be able to participate at the moment due to no longer living in Europe.

!!Released videos
* ''Nightmare Circus'' was supposed to be a more straight horror parody, but the surreal wacky ending has been improvised because they didn't finish writing the video's script when the shooting started.
* In ''Takeshi's Challenge'', Pepito was initially supposed to only speak with quotes from rap songs, but they changed it into quotes from songs in general because they didn't find enough quotes. He reappears in a later video but speaks normally because they didn't find enough lines to keep using this gimmick.
* In the ''Fort Boyard'' video, Fred tells he asked Microids (developers of ''Fort Boyard: La Légende'') why the (hideously racist) cutscene featuring an Asian NPC has been cut, then bases a gag on the fact Microids didn't answer. [[https://twitter.com/Frederic_Molas/status/1041658620683972608 They actually answered, but after the video's release]]. If they had answered in time, the sequence would probably have been different, and less funny.[[note]]Microids' answer: "As we already explained, people who worked on Fort Boyard La Légende 22 years ago left the firm for a long time, so it's difficult to find an exact answer. The current team discovers this cutscene thanks to you and of course considers it to be inappropriate, we believe the team at the time felt the same and decided to cut it from the code. [...]"[[/note]]
* The ''Club [=JdG=]'' about connections between the Mondo series is retooled from the introduction of a canceled video. Fred wanted to write a video about a Mondo Christmas special, which opened with an explanation of said connections, but he noticed the introduction alone was as long as a normal ''Club [=JdG=]'' video, so he made the actual episode focusing only on the links between the series of the "Mondo Cinematic Universe".
* ''Duke Nukem Forever'' was originally meant to be a ''Jeux en vrac'' episode, which are considered "mini-''Joueur du Grenier''" episodes. As they worked on it, they decided to make it a normal ''Joueur du Grenier'' episode.
* ''Scooby-Doo'':
** One early version of the Mid-Review plot didn't have the actors cast as the Scooby-Gang but was an original story in the spirit of a ''Scooby-Doo'' cartoon.
** Before choosing to make a high-definition animated dog, alternate versions Scooby-Doo were considered, including a very cheap 3D asset, a Scooby-Doo which was present in-story and interacted with but was offscreen all the time, a Scoody-Doo played by ''a human actor'', and a Scooby-Doo who wasn't here (the Mid-Review Sketch being about the Scooby-Gang looking for him). Fred tells in the behind-the-scenes comments that having a human actor behaving as a dog would be potentially insulting, and making something deliberately cheap while basing jokes on lampshading it's deliberately cheap is overused in ''Joueur du Grenier''.
** The initial version of the episode's Mid-Review Sketch was supposed to be set in a Fistyland theme park and was supposed to be shot at Festyland (the real life theme park which name is referred by Fistyland). The team eventually decided to set the story in a museum (the other recurring setting in the ''Scooby-Doo'' franchise) due to various technical difficulties.
** The initial draft had Fred and Daphne being very bitter toward each other due to having broken up a short while ago, which has been heavily toned down in the final version of the script (mostly limited to the actors' body language in an early scene). Fred cut it because he felt it ruined the episode's ambiance, which was deliberately intended to be light-hearted.
** In the same vein, Velma being a jaded alcoholic was much more prominent in the initial draft. Most of the scenes have been cut because this characterization was too monolithic, and turning kid-friendly protagonists into trashy characters was too cliché.
** Fred intended to borrow a Mystery Machine duplicate based on of the original cartoon's design, but Fred couldn't come to an agreement with its owner. In the released version, the van is a duplicate based on the live-action films' design.
* ''Castlevania'':
** The initial version of the Mid-Review Sketch was a reality TV following Dracula's children and their difficult relation with their father (Alucard being a vegan hipster and Dracula's daughter being a quiet teen glued to her phone) with a abrupt ending where two members of the Belmont family messily kill them. This version was supposed to be shot at the Puy du Fou (a history-themed theme park) but it didn't work out, so the team turned to the vampire's party plot, which was a backup plan.
** In a later draft of the script (closer to the final version), the party guests featured a more varied cast of monsters from several horror franchise.
** During the review of the first ''Castlevania'' game, the sequence where Fred explains and praises its level design was supposed to be much longer.
* The Candice mannequin from ''Mission Impossible'' was intended to become a recurring bit character. In the actual released videos, it only reappeared in ''Daikatana''.
* In the ''Hitman'' ''Papy Grenier'', the team shot a lot of gags which weren't kept in the final version, because Fred felt the bald cap from his Agent 47's costume looked so cheap it would be too distracting for the watchers.
* In ''Phoenix Games'', Fred originally wanted the cameo of Disney princesses cosplayers to feature a lot more of them, but it wouldn't work due to the size of the room. There are four cosplayers in the final version (for some reason, the ending credits five actresses cast as Disney princesses).
* ''Glen Larson Specials''
** The finale title has been decided relatively late (the episode was originally supposed to be named ''Series of the Eighties'') when the team discovered the series they intended to review all share the same producer.
** A review of the series ''The Highwayman'' has been considered but dropped.
* Before turning into a video about videogames based on animated films[=/=]series (it also includes games based on ''Mighty Max'' and ''The Flintstones''), the early version of what eventually became the ''Roger Rabbit'' video was an episode about videogames featuring animal protagonists.
* In the ''Bible Games'' episode, Fred wanted to rent a monkey or a parrot for a gag during the exam sequence, but he gave up after discovering how restrictive are the rules to work with animals -- he actually found a rented monkey online, but the team couldn't afford it. The monkey is offscreen in the final version.
* In the ''Papy Grenier'' about Beat'em Ups, a scene based on ''Streets of Rage'''s elevator's level has been written, but Fred couldn't make it work onscreen.
* The original premise of the mid-review sketch of the ''Robocop'' episode was a ''Film/LeGendarmeDeSaintTropez'' pastiche where the gendarmerie brigade's new hire was Robocop. The idea was dropped because 1) Fred thought the main appeal of the ''Gendarme'' comedies was Creator/LouisDeFunes' acting, and their idea wouldn't work because Louis de Funès' counterpart was a stoic robot 2) parodying a comedy would be redundant.
* "Wii Games for Girls"
** The original premise was a special Wii-games. It then turned into a special party-games in general, before specifically focusing about party games for girls.
** In the scene where Seb pays the VPN with Fred's credit card, the sequence where Seb types the credit card's PIN was initially intended to be an OverlyLongGag. Fred explained in a live comment that this type of humor is very hard to get right, which is the reason the scene has been shortened.

!!!The Anniversary episodes
* Fred intended to shoot the Fantasy segment in the [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paimpont_forest Paimpont forest]], a Breton forest commonly thought to be the real Brocéliande forest from Arthurian legend. He had to shoot it elsewhere because getting all the legal authorizations would have been too expensive.
* One of the planned ending for the second part featured a camera zooming out in a theme park (standing for Fistyland), revealing all the various ''Joueur du Grenier'' characters having fun here.
* Texas Granger was supposed to be recruited by the party after they visit the wizardry school. The role has been reduced because Fred realised she wouldn't be useful and was redundant with Professor Humblebundledore (as a character from the ''Harry Potter'' arc).
* The AVGN's speech (in subtitled English) was longer, but it has been shortened because it was based on an untranslatable pun.
