''Tom and Jerry: Shiver Me Whiskers'' is the fourth installment of the ''WesternAnimation/TomAndJerryDirectToVideoFilmSeries''. It features the cat and mouse rivals within a pirate setting as they hunt for the lost treasure of the Spanish Mane.

Curiously was released in the same year ''Franchise/ScoobyDoo'' also had a pirate themed direct-to-video movie in ''WesternAnimation/ScoobyDooPiratesAhoy''. Ironically, Kathy Najimy and Creator/DanCastellaneta have supporting roles in both movies.

!!Tropes included:
* AmusingInjuries: It's a ''Tom and Jerry'' movie. These happen for most of the plot.
* AuthorityEqualsAsskicking: Red Pirate Ron is willing to fight three skeleton pirates at once and leads his men against Bob's crew with great skill.
* CaptainColorbeard: Surprisngly averted with three pirates who do have a color scheme going on but each has a standard black beard.
* ChronicBackstabbingDisorder: Tom agrees to work with Jerry in order to get the treasure for themselves. The second it's in reach, though, Tom tosses Jerry aside.
* ColourCodedCharacters: Red Pirate Ron, Blue Pirate Bob, Purple Pirate Paul, you get the picture.
* DoNotCallMePaul: Barnacle Paul insists he be called this because he doesn't want to go along with his brothers name scheme. They called him Purple Pirate Paul.
* EveryoneHasStandards: Stan is shocked by what Red Pirate Ron wants to do to Tom for trying to take the treasure.
* GhostPirate: We briefly have a scene with skeleton pirates who chase Red Pirate Ron and crew off his boat.
* HumanFocusedAdaptation: The plot mostly focuses on a trio of pirates who parted ways to find the lost treasure of the Spanish Mane for themselves, while Tom and Jerry are thrown into the mix to later abandon them and find it.
* IFellForHours: A variation. At the beginning of the film, Tom gets rid of Jerry by blasting him out of a cannon, sending him flying through the air. The next time we see Jerry, he's still flying through the air, even impatiently tapping his fingers on the air, before finally hitting the sail of Blue Pirate Bob's ship.
* InadvertentEntranceCue: As Ron and Paul fight over the treasure, Paul (falsely) claims that if their brother Bob were present, he'd agree it was Paul's. At that moment, Bob's ship arrives, and Paul nervously says he'd been hoping he wouldn't have to prove that claim.
* KnowWhenToFoldEm: Red Pirate Ron's crew don't take long to prepare their lifeboat when skeleton pirates attack their ship.
* LaserGuidedKarma: In the end, Jerry swipes the treasure out from under everyone and tries to leave Tom on the island with the feuding pirates. Tom avoids that fate, but thanks to Spike, he's stuck working as cabin boy to Jerry's captain.
* {{Pirate}}: The whole theme of the movie.
* PirateParrot: Each of the pirates have ones to do their talking. Well two of them at least.
* PunchClockVillain: Parrot translators Stan and Betty often pause to apologize after translating a threat. During a battle where their masters are dueling, they fly up into the rafters to exchange friendly greetings and compare notes about Ron and Bob.
* RidingIntoTheSunset: The film ends with Tom, Jerry, Spike and the parrots sailing onward into the horizon with the treasure.
* SillySimian: Barnacle Paul has goofy monkey servants after being stuck on an island for so many years.
* ShoutOut: One of the guardians of the treasure is a giant chicken made of rock. In other words a [[Literature/SinbadTheSailor Roc Chick]].
* TotemPoleTrench: Barnacle Paul tries this with his monkeys to hide the fact he's really short.
* TreasureMap: The finding of one kicks off the plot.
* TheUnintelligible: Red Pirate Ron and Blue Pirate Bob only speak with “Yar”, while their parrots speak English for them. Averted with Purple Pirate Paul who speaks just fine, while his parrot “translates” it into “Yar”, to his disapproval.
* VanillaEdition: The DVD release doesn't contain a language selection, '''or even a scene selection'''. Oddly, it '''does''' contain a featurette and two trailers.
* WalkThePlank: Of course this trope came up.
* YouDoNotWantToKnow: What Stan tells Tom about what Red Pirate Ron threatened to just do to him.
* YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness: All three pirates dispose of their parrots at the eleventh hour, with the treasure in their grasp.
-->'''Stan:''' Be gone, you stupid parrot! (Has an OhCrap face, before being stripped of his feathers offscreen) Oh fine, have it your way. I quit.
