Casper's Scare School: The Series is a 2009 animated series based on the CGI film Casper's Scare School, starring WesternAnimation/CasperTheFriendlyGhost. The series was broadcast on Creator/YTV Canada and aired on Creator/CartoonNetwork in the US as well as in UK & Ireland.
----
!!Casper's Scare School provides the following tropes
* AcademyOfAdventure: the eponymous scare school, where the characters spend most of their time and have most of their adventures.
* AllCGICartoon: just look at the page image. The entire series is CGI.
* AllGhoulsSchool: the titular scare school is a school entirely for (and run by) monsters.
%%* AnimeHair
* BadIsGoodAndGoodIsBad: Alder and Dash take this very literally. They once punished Casper for giving a gift to one of the teachers, not because it could be considered a bribe, but because it was a nice thing to do.
* BandEpisode: In the season 1 episode "Bands on the Run", Casper and Jimmy try to form, a band for a talent show, but Casper inadvertently keeps scaring off any potential members. Eventually, Ra and Manta join them and they end up winning the contest.
* BigFancyHouse: The Ghostly Trio's manor could qualify, in spite of its creepiness.
* BlindAndTheBeast: In season 2 there's a recurring near-sighted old lady who sees Casper and friends as normal human kids.
* BlindfoldedVision: Cappy. In fact, when he has his blindness taken away he loses all sense of direction.
* BoardingSchool: Scare School is this type of school, with the students living there.
%%* BumblingDad: Jimmy's dad.
* ContinuityReboot: For the Casper Franchise. It only has some similarities with Film/CasperASpiritedBeginning, but otherwise is its own seperate story.
* ChristmasEpisode: Season 1's "A Merry Scary Christmas "
* CoversAlwaysLie: The cover of issue 2 of the spin-off comic shows Jimmy in Scare School, but this does not happen in the story itself.
* DeadpanSnarker: Mantha is quite a snarker.
* EnemyMine: In the "Power Outage" 4-part special, the students and staff of Scare School team up with Mr. Bradley, a Creature Catcher, to stop Razznik.
* ExtranormalInstitute: The titular scare school, where monsters go to learn to be, well, monsters.
* AFoolAndHisNewMoneyAreSoonParted: Ra in "Rich Kid Ra", however he was already rich to begin with until an archaeologist raided his family's tomb.
* FooledByTheSound: In "Our Boy Wolfie", Jimmy stubs his toe and howls in pain, which his parents mistake for a werewolf.
* ForHalloweenIAmGoingAsMyself: In the comic, Ra, Mantha and Wolfie go trick or treating in their regular outfits. Casper however averts the trope since he dresses up in a pirate costume, both since he doesn't want to dress like a BedSheetGhost and because he promised Cappy to wear this costume in exchance for a ride to Deedstown.
* HumanityEnsues: In one episode, Wolfie was turned into a "fleshie", or human. It happened again in "Power Outage".
* InexplicablyIdenticalIndividuals: In "Dream Team" the ghost invading Jimmy's dad's dreams looks a lot like Casper, except he's red. Oddly, there seems to be no reason for the resemblance, as it never becomes plot-relevant.
* InstantFanClub: Ra in "The Ra-Minator", "Rich Kid Ra", and "Wiz Kid Ra" after he becomes popular. And as with most cases of this trope, the fans ditch him as soon as his popularity fades.
* InstrumentalThemeTune: Has one.
* InterspeciesFriendship: Casper, Ra, Mantha, Jimmy and Wolfie are all good friends, despite all being different creatures.
* JerkAss: Alder and Dash; Thatch to a lesser extent
* KidsAreCruel: Thatch, the Normans, and Thatch's gang are all bullies to varous extends.
%%* LawfulStupid: Alder and Dash
* LighterAndSofter: The Ghostly Trio, so much that they actually care about Casper. Of course they still love to scare humans.
* LiteralMetaphor: Alder and Dash's replacement from "Master Blister" literally has eyes in the back of his head.
%%* Lovable Alpha Bitches: Mickey and Monaco
* MichaelJacksonsThrillerParody: The episode "My Fair Harpy" ends with all students performing a group dance identical to that of Michael and the zombies.
%% * MistakenForMurderer: .
* MistreatmentInducedBetrayal: Kibosh's manservant Razznik betrayed him after enduring two centuries of Kibosh treating him almost like an slave.
* MonsterMash: Let's see; the main characters are a ghost, a zombie and a mummy, the main antagonists a vampire and a two-headed monster, and there's a werewolf, two skeletons, a swamp creature, and various other monsters as background characters.
* Muggles: The human characters, with Jimmy and his dad being the most important ones.
* MythologyGag: Deedstown shares the same name as the town from Casper: A Spirited Beginning.
* NegativeContinuity: Season 2 overall is infamous for its number of inconsistencies with season 1, a few examples:
** In the season 2 episode "Cappy's Mail Order Eyes" Cappy gets new eyes and manages to make his way to Deedstown, despite the 4-part special from season 1 establishing that he loses all sense of direction when he's not blind.
** In the season 1 episode "Revenge of the Creature Catcher", Jimmy is able to travel from the manor of Casper's uncles to Scare School, proving that he knows how to operate the clock and open the dimension tube. But in the season 2 episode "The Manor Has Disappeared", he somehow does not know this and ends up shrinking the manor when trying to open the tube.
** In the 4-part special, Mr. Bradley finds out Jimmy is friends with Casper and co. But in later episodes, he does not seem to know this.
** In the episode "Our Boy Wolfie", Wolfie does not know who Jimmy is, despite the fact that this episode is clearly set after "Ghost Bust a Move" (as Graham is already a creature catcher by now) in which Wolfie and Jimmy met.
* NeverWakeUpASleepwalker: In the season 2 episode Dream Team, Mr. Bradley starts suffering from frequent sleepwalking, and Jimmy is unwilling to wake him up because of this trope.
* NiceGuy: Casper (perhaps a bit too nice for his own good), in fact, as he also suffers from ChronicHeroSyndrome.
* NurseWithGoodIntentions: The school nurse seems to be under the impression that her sadistic methods will cure her patients rather than making them worse.
* OneFederationLimit: Of every creature, there is only one within Scare School (Casper is the only Ghost student, Ra the only mummy, Thatch the only vampire etc.) The only exceptions are Mickey and Monaco, who are both skeletons.
* OneSteveLimit: In a possibly accidental aversion, Jimmy has had two completely different bullies in different episodes, both named Norman. One has brown hair in a mullet hairstyle, and the other is a blond skater in a beanie and red hoodie. They appeared in the same scene in one episode (though the one with the mullet was possessing Casper at the time).
* OnlySixFaces: A lot of humans look basically the same, based on the same generic model. The monsters are mostly a CastOfSnowflakes.
* OurVampiresAreDifferent: Thatch isn't harmed by sunlight and doesn't have to drink blood to survive despite him being a vampire.
* OurWerewolvesAreDifferent: Wolfie is perpetually a werewolf. When there's a full moon he turns into a bigger werewolf and loses all control.
* OurMonstersAreDifferent: Many of the creatures that would normally be former fleshies were never fleshies. Mantha was always a zombie, Ra was always a mummy, etc. The only characters that were confirmed to be formerly human were Fly Boy and his father. However, in the episode "Scare Day", after Mantha wins a scaring competition, she mentions this is the best day of her afterlife. This suggests she too was once a human, died, and then became a zombie.
* OurZombiesAreDifferent: Mantha is smart and agile. The walking slowly while chanting "Braaains..." routine is just a scare tactic zombies use. And though she does eat brains, it's not all she eats.
* OutOfCharacterMoment: In "Potent Brew" Casper is trying to pull something from a toddler's grip and when Mantha scares the toddler into letting go, making her cry, Casper actually thanks her.
* PottyEmergency: In "Fang Decay" there is a long line of students in front of the Boys' bathroom. Mosshead really has to go and unfortunately for him, Thatch is in there. Right at that moment, Mosshead sees Mickey and Monaco having a drink, much to his horror. Soon Thatch comes out, but poor Mosshead has to wait even longer due to Quasi cutting the line.
%%* PottyDance: See PottyEmergency above.
* PowerParasite: In the 4-parter "Power Outage" Razznik steals everyone's powers with the help of a magic crystal.
%%* PowerTrio:
%%** Casper (Superego)
%%** Mantha (Ego)
%%** Ra (Id)
* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: Casper does this to Mosshead in "Messy Business At The Manor'. for Mosshead supposedly being an UngratefulBastard.
--->Casper: Grrrrr! I've had it with you! I did you a favor and all you've done is act like an obnoxious jerk! You wanna tell on me?! Go ahead, but don't ever come to me for anything else ever again! I never should've let you in my house!
* RidiculouslyAliveUndead: At the start of "Fang Decay", various students are seen doing the PottyDance because Thatch is taking a long time to brush his teeth in the bathroom due to his toothache. Casper the ghost and Ra the mummy are among those standing in line.
* SecretKeeper: Jimmy keeps the fact that he is friends with Casper and other monsters a secret from everybody.
* ShesNotMyGirlfriend: In "Possessed", one of the Normans called Mantha Casper's girlfriend.
-->Norman: Show me how to get home, and I won't mail your girlfriend's head to China.\
Casper: She's not my--\
Norman: Hmm, now where can I find a box big enough?
* ShipTease; The episode "The Day The Professor Croaked" teases both Nurse/Professor Burns and Kibosh/Hedy. When Kibosh accidentally kisses Hedy's head/crystal ball neither of them, especially Kibosh, seemed bothered by it. He even passed Hedy for everything during the school's inspection just for her "perfect calligraphy" and seemed lovestruck until he left the classroom. The nurse also was more than happy to kiss Professor Burns to change him back to normal when everyone thought he had turned himself into a toad.
* SingleMindedTwins: Mickey and Monaco are always together, and always on the same page about everything.
* SomethingOnlyTheyWouldSay: To find out whether or not it's Wolfie (who turned human), Thatch asked him if he remembers what Thatch did yesterday. Wolfie tells him of Thatch's prank on Alder and Dash, but he shuts Wolfie up and says he meant about the prank on Casper.
* StrangerInAStrangeSchool: Jimmy in the episode "A Real Little Monster", where he goes to Scare School (a school only for monsters) disguised as a creature.
* TerribleTrio: Thatch, Mickey and Monaco in the film
** Thatch, Slither, and Dummy Girl in the series.
** The Ghostly Trio whenever they appear.
* ThoseTwoGirls: Mickey and Monaco, who are mostly background characters and only have a few lines whenever they appear.
* TimeToMove: The main plot of the episode "Ghost Bust a Move", in which Casper, Ra, Mantha and Wolfie try to help Jimmy from having to move away from Deedstown to a small desert town.
* TokenGoodTeammate: Casper is the nicest monster of the main trio, and the one least eager to scare people.
* Town of Adventure: Deedstown, which is the main setting for any episode not set at the Scare School.
%%* Valley Girls: Mickey and Monaco
* WatchOutForThatTree: A RunningGag with Thatch in season 2.
* WheresTheFunInThat: Nurse Gorgon says this in "Fang Decay".
-->Nurse Gorgon: Oh, that fang looks bad, oh dear. This might take a lot of pain!
-->Thatch: Don't you mean "a lot of ice"?
-->Nurse Gorgon: Ice? Where's the fun in that?
