A ''Franchise/StarTrek'' {{Fan Webcomic|s}} set in an alternate Star Trek universe. It tells the story Of [[DistaffCounterpart Janet T. Kirk]], captain of the Federal Star Ship Enterprise in [[Series/StarTrekTheOriginalSeries her five-year mission to explore strange and new worlds]]. You can read it [[http://mdbruffy.deviantart.com/gallery/44030824/Nova-Trek here]]

The Universe has a few differences with the standard Star Trek universe, some of them cosmetic ([[TheFederation Federal Union of Planets]] instead of the United Federation of Planets) and some of them... not ([[spoiler:Janet and Spock are married!]]). The story starts around the end of TOS, and ends a few months after the events of Film/StarTrekGenerations, encompassing 13 graphic novels made in the Poser rendering software, 5 novel length stories and a collection of four short stories.

!!Tropes:

* AlternateTimeline: [[spoiler:[[Recap/StarTrekS1E20CourtMartial Ben Finney]]]] creates one by meddling with the Guardian of Forever.
* AlternateUniverse: The stories are set in one where Janet T. Kirk is the captain of the FSS Enterprise.
* ArtEvolution: While the look of the characters have remained more or less constant, later graphic novels are rendered in more advanced versions of the Poser rendering software and it shows.
* BigDamnHeroes: Three times during the battle of Starbase 98. Kang's ship, [[spoiler:the USS Enterprise and her little squad]], and finally, the fleet reunited by Admiral Fitzpatrick.
* ComicBookFantasyCasting: Due to the nature of Poser, and the availability of celebrity morphs, quite prevalent. To wit:
** The captain of the FSS Constitution (in the "A tale of Two Captains" three parter) is based on Clint Eastwood.
** Grand Admiral Stryker, the Commander-in-Chief of Starfleet in the TOS era is based on John Wayne.
** An admiral with a bit part in "Special Report" is based on Vincent Price.
** Two Admirals from the TNG era are based on Steve [=McQueen=] and Kirk Douglas.
* DeathByAdaptation:
** In the Nova Trek Universe, Jean Luc Picard died stopping [[Film/StarTrekGenerations Tolian Soran]].
** Also, in "Gains and Losses" we learn that [[spoiler:[[Recap/StarTrekS3E7DayOfTheDove Mara]], Kang's wife,]] was killed by Andorian renegades, [[spoiler:with Romulan backing.]]
* DistaffCounterpart: Janet T. Kirk to James T. Kirk, obviously.
* HalfHumanHybrid: Apart from the canon ones like Spock and Deanna Troi, we have:
** [[spoiler:Spock's son and daughter, Sarek James and Amanda Maureen]], who are one quarter Vulcan. [[spoiler:So would be the stillborn first son of Spock and Janet, in "Gains and losses".]]
** An unnamed Andorian/human hybrid appears between the Andorian renegades in "Gain and losses."
* HeinzHybrid: The daughter of [[spoiler:Sarek James and Janet, Janet Tamera Rayannah Kirk]] is 1/8 Vulcan, 3/8 Human, 1/4 Klingon and 1/4 Romulan.
* NegativeSpaceWedgie: A few, in the proud tradition of Star Trek. To wit:
** [[spoiler:The Romulan militants]] create one, inadvertently bringing [[spoiler:James T. Kirk of the USS Enterprise]] to the FSS Enterprise.
** In the first landing party of Tamera Kirk as crewman of the FSS Georgetown, they find a Negative ''Time'' Wedgie.
** In the prologue to "Beginning's End" a NSW throws [[Series/StarTrekTheNextGeneration Deanna Troi]] into [[spoiler:Tamera Kirk's penthouse in 2015.]]
* NonhumanHumanoidHybrid: Janet, daughter of [[spoiler:[[Recap/StarTrekS3E7DayOfTheDove Kang]] and [[Recap/StarTrekS3E2TheEnterpriseIncident Rayannah, the Romulan Commander]]]], who is a Romulan/Klingon hybrid, [[spoiler:and ends married to Sarek James]].
* ObstructiveBureaucrat: [[DeskJockey Commodore Moxon]], in "Ventures. The life and times of Shev Ta'Laren", in the Inquiry Board over the Battle of Starbase 98.
* OlderThanTheyLook: Tamera Kirk, [[spoiler:courtesy of the Guardian.]]
* OtherMeAnnoysMe: A mild and [[JustifiedTrope justified]] version. Janet is not exactly thrilled by the presence of [[spoiler:James T. Kirk]] in her ship. [[spoiler:Justified because her universe James Kirk died in the first graphic novel.]]
* RebelliousPrincess: Shev's mother, Sallen Tal'gen, while technically not a princess, fit the bill. Including eloping with her fiancé to Earth from Andor when her [[BlueBlood family]] tried to forbid their relationship
* SpearCounterpart: Curiously, only one. Edward Keeler to [[Recap/StarTrekS1E28TheCityOnTheEdgeOfForever Edith Keeler]].
* TheSpock: the {{Trope Namer|s}} himself, twice times over, as we see the Nova Trek universe one, first officer of the FSS Enterprise [[spoiler:and husband of Captain Janet T. Kirk]], and [[spoiler:his version from the Prime Trek universe]], who appears in the "A tale of two captains" three parter.
* SurprisePregnancy: Janet is told by [=McCoy=] after a routine check-up, at the beginning of "Gains and Losses".
* TakeThat: A couple:
** One in "Special Report" to the Reboot!Enterprise bridge design, [[spoiler:specifically to the windowscreen, which turn to be the result of a Romulan mole.]]
** And another in "Altered Lives" to the Mirror Universe episodes of ''Series/StarTrekEnterprise, [[spoiler:specifically to the differences in the Defiant.]]
