''Mario's Day Job'' is a video game webcomic by [[http://www.smackjeeves.com/profile.php?id=2440 Butterscotch]]. It started off as a humorous comic about [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin Mario's and Luigi's jobs as plumbers]] featuring video game {{cross over}}s, but has since evolved to feature an overarching plot involving the heroes rescuing several {{distressed damsel}}s... And Professor Oak. It mostly features characters from ''Franchise/SuperMarioBros'', ''Franchise/TheLegendOfZelda'', ''Franchise/{{Pokemon}}'', ''VideoGame/AnimalCrossing'' and ''VideoGame/HarvestMoon''.

----
!!Contains examples of the following tropes:
* AndYourRewardIsInteriorDecorating: No one ever pays Mario and Luigi cash for their plumbing jobs.
* ButtMonkey:
** Luigi is only the second-best plumber in the land, and his only Pokemon were Magikarp, then Weedle.
** Link is upstaged by the Mario Bros as Luigi rescues Zelda and Mario fights Ganondorf with the Silver Arrows and Master Sword, and is engaged to Ruto.
* CloudCuckooLander: Mark
* DesignatedVictim: Both played straight and subverted. Zelda does get kidnapped, but it's by Bowser and thus far Peach has managed to escape being kidnapped. Daisy has not had the same luck. The other characters who have been kidnapped are all first timers.
* DungeonBypass: Subverted. Jack wants to go straight to Bowser's castle, but Luigi, Red, and Blue all want to take the long ways around.
* EconomyCast: Despite the comic having a large cast, Mario and Luigi seem to be the only plumbers in the ''Mario's Day Job'' universe.
* EpicFail: Bowser's minions, in trying to kidnap Peach, make progressively worse choices, including Daisy, Popuri, Jigglypuff, a pink Tetris block named Sally, and Professor Oak. To make matters worse, the reason that Oak was kidnapped is because the Boo involved ''thought that [[InUniverseFactoidFailure peaches grew on oak trees]].''
* GagSeries: The early strips started out as silly gag-per-day affairs, and even the overarching story comics are silly.
* HeroicMime: Subverted with Link, who talks.
* IAmNotShazam: When Luigi first meets Link, he wonders how Zelda was able to escape from Bowser.
* MegaCrossover: Most characters are from ''Franchise/SuperMarioBros'', ''Franchise/TheLegendOfZelda'', ''Franchise/{{Pokemon}}'', ''VideoGame/AnimalCrossing'' and ''VideoGame/HarvestMoon''
* PunBasedTitle: Butterscotch is fond of using these when she names each page.
* PungeonMaster: Dawn
* RunningGag: Several. Two of the most common are that everything is a Pokémon and Link being mistaken for other characters.
* SmoochOfVictory: Peach tries to give Mario one after he retrieves the ring she dropped down the drain, but is [[AlmostKiss interrupted]] by Mario's ringing cell phone calling him off on another plumbing emergency.
* ThoseTwoGuys: Goomba and Boo are Bowser's main two minions.
* WhenAllYouHaveIsAHammer: Bowser doesn't understand the concept of plans that don't involve kidnapping Peach.
