The only problem is, in almost every episode, he screams as he is beaten, but this time, he doesn't. It's because he was KILLED. It is his soldier nickname, just like [[VideoGame/MegaManX5 the Skiver]], whose nickname is [[MeaningfulName Air Force Prince, likely implying his rank at the Air Force, being their director]]. Meaning that Maverick Virus didn't make him that - he was ''always'' that. And Zig surely would have mental issues after Sharko's hard, head-slamming fist. And he is a hyena. Water is not only his physical weakness, it is his mental weakness, rewaking memories with Sharko from his previous life and, thus, powering the pain. And Hyenard's cloning ability. Zig can't clone himself, but he did build lookalike robots that were exactly clones of Zig. Maybe he did build this robot as an armor, or his personality was coded and uploaded on Flame Hyenard.

How those facts are connected? Well, in order to compensate for his lack of hunting technique, he taught himself how to build powerful devices to hunt ''and'' to build lairs that ''no animal'' can infiltrate. And in the "Desert Island Drought", after he [[spoiler: gives up and cries, ''which could mean something'',]] Bernie shows him his family tree. With a honorful pose, he [[spoiler: dresses as a toreador and [[DidYouJustPunchOutCthulhu defeats]] [[TheBadGuyWins Sharko,]] until the rain starts and Sharko defeats him.]] It is obvious now: ''Zig wants to avenge his dead family.''

King Neptune, while able to fall for her, he has his own influence (he is the king, after all), and his own allies (read: Manic Mermaid) and entourage and is powerful enough to make her his wife. And Zig and Bernie, who are very resistant to her influence and want to kill her. However, they are not much of a threat, because King Neptune is weaker than Sharko and his influence is weak too, and Zig is only one, while Bernie is friendly to her and not a loyal ally to Zig, plus, Zig is much weaker than anybody in the island, also being [[UnfortunateImplications mentally]] [[GRatedMentalIllness disturbed]] and starvated heavily, with having the entire island an enemy of him. However, he is also Marina's favorite plaything, which is why she is so kind to him and most episodes get him involved in some of their shenanigans ("Hair Story", in which Marina wants to use his fur as a wig), but she is still really happy to torture him (again, "Hair Story", [[spoiler: in which Marina grows her hair back by squeezing a magical juice from Sharko's dorsal fin, which gets his fin flat and unable to go to opera. Marina comes up with an idea to use Zig as a fin, and they go to the opera, while Zig obviously has problems with it, but he is punched by Sharko]]).

The ocean-creatures in this world already defy nature in plenty of ways, [[ArtisticLicenseBiology such as being able to stick their heads out of the water and not suffocate,]] so it's not a stretch that, if they wanted to, they could just learn to walk on land and explore the surface, like how humans learn to swim to explore the water. After all, we see other animals that belong in the water on land and they move around just fine. The reason Marina can walk upright is because she simply practiced, but Sharko hadn't really done it before, or if he did, hadn't done it very often, so it was hard for him to move out of the water.
145	** The way how the fish walk around on land is quite bizarre, with Marina and Sharko walking on the tips of their tail fins like legs. Theoretically, [[ArtisticLicensePhysics they should just fall over,]] but they don't because they've learned how to balance themselves. By season 2, Sharko has learned to navigate land and walk properly.

After all, he constantly gets beaten by Sharko and never manages to catch Marina anyways. This even goes against how Hyenas function in nature; they usually hunt weak, sick, or old animals to eat since it's easier, while Zig goes after a mermaid whom [[LovedByAll literally everyone likes]] and [[BodyguardCrush is constantly guarded by a giant walking shark.]] But the reason he's always hunting Marina is because she is his only option for food, as he's some weird breed of hyena that can only live off of eating mermaids.
148	** The reason Zig looks so weird and is so insane is because he's an evolutionary anomaly; theoretically, all hyenas like Zig should have died out from lack of prey (since mermaids seem kind of scarce in this world, and the ones we see are too powerful to kill and eat), but Zig managed to stay alive, possibly from sheer force of will. The reason why he goes after Marina and no other mermaid is because Marina is technically the ''weakest'' mermaid and the most gullible, and therefore his best bet at a meal. Possibly, if he found a mermaid even more clueless and weaker than her, he'd settle for someone else.
