[[WMG: Heaven is also experiencing an overpopulation crisis]]
* Unlikely, but for unfortunate reasons. Since it's been made clear that here are way more sinners than people up in Heaven, this likely means that Heaven would not have an overpopulation crisis (which is why it's unfortunate, since it's telling that there are simply fewer people up in Heaven). This retroactively explains why Heaven appears to be smaller than Hell. Alternatively, God wills Heaven to be BiggerOnTheInside.

[[WMG: What it takes to get into Heaven]]
* Even angels don't know what it takes to go into Heaven. But this Troper believe that to go into Heaven, you have to believe that you are a good person. No one in Hell believe they are good people: Angel is a drug addict and isn't in the Hotel to be redeemed but to have free housing, Alastor said that no demon in Hell can change, and we have yet to find a soul in Hell wondering how and why they ended up in Pentagram City. We have yet to meet a human soul that went into Heaven beside Adam, and Adam himself is a [[ZeroPercentApprovalRating jerkass]] and a Narcissist blind to his own flaws [[MoralMyopia who genuinely believes he's Heaven material]]. If Adam has no redeeming quality whatsoever, and still is in Heaven, it may be because he think of himself as an example and a good guy. So basically, damnation works like it does in ''ComicBook/{{The Sandman|1989}}'' and ''Series/{{Lucifer|2016}}''.

[[WMG:The Exorcists are Heaven's effort to cover up Creation is [[CreatingLifeIsBad falling apart]].]]
You're in a series where an EasyRoadToHell could exist, Hell has very very limited capacity, yet God is supposedly omnibenevolent and makes Heaven as infinite as it is SickeninglySweet. It doesn't take a theologian to know something's gone horribly fucking wrong somewhere along the line. Probably GodIsInept or GodIsFlawed or Free Will was an experiment that just [[TheEvilsOfFreeWill didn't work as intended]]. The Angels of course, [[YesMan daren't ever tell their creator]] shit's completely fucked. As far as God's concerned, the Angels keep telling him [[CassandraGambit everything's working out just fine]] - okay, yeah, ''some'' of your creations have gone to Hell, but Hell has [[BlatantLies hardly anyone in it]] compared to your wonderous Heaven! And then send out the Exorcists who exterminate many lost souls behind God's back so he doesn't get suspicious about the numbers.
* Confirmed there is a cover-up in episode 6 of ''Hazbin Hotel'', Sera the high-ranking seraphim orchestrated this with Adam, but its not revealed if any higher power was also deceived by this conspiracy.

[[WMG:God in this universe is actually a DemiurgeArchetype or some other variety of "impostor".]]
This idea will likely remind people of [[WebVideo/MandelaCatalogue certain other works]], but the concept of heaven being usurped by some warped parody of the universe's creator is nothing new. And since [[WordOfGod Vivziepop has stated outright that a large number of mythologies will be referenced in the series]], seeing shout-outs to Gnosticism wouldn't be out of the question.

In Gnosticism, the Demiurge was effectively a cheap imitation of God that embodied all the aspects of the Abrahamic religions they (and many modern observers) hate; arrogant, petty, and prone to using humanity as a CosmicPlaything as an outlet for his narcissistic rage. It just fits in too well given how we've seen Heaven depicted in Helluva Boss; the draconian nature of the CHERUB trio is a clear sign of Heaven trying to put extra flowers and rainbows over what's essentially a glorified country club in the sky.

The reason Hell is overpopulated in the first place? Because the entry requirements for Heaven under this 'God' are so restrictive that only those on His 'favorites list' or those who really have lived a life free of sin are allowed in. Virtually everyone else gets sent to Hell, wherein he sends the Exterminators to perform purges every year not just to control the population, but [[ItAmusedMe because he and those in his Heaven get kicks out of slaughtering 'sinners' like cattle...]]

As Hazbin's plot progresses, it's likely that sooner or later, the cracks will start to show in Heaven's disguise, and the disguise of our Demiurge character by extension. It'll also be revealed that Lucifer (aka 'Satanael') isn't opposed to Charlie's efforts because he thinks they're fool-hardy; he's secretly terrified that she'll wind up getting herself in trouble with the eldritch WTF [[GrandTheftMe that stole his dad's identity]], and maybe get herself sent to oblivion.

It's also likely that we'll see one or more characters from either Heaven or Hell that know what's going on here, and are secretly support Charlie's efforts from behind the scenes, more than one of which will turn out to be the [[BigGood true God/Monad archetype]] whose ultimate goal is to reclaim the throne of God, and finally put a stop to the damnation of innocent souls.

[[WMG: Demons are weaker in the mortal world.]]
Helluva Boss showed that it's possible for demons to travel to Earth (though apparently it's only royalty who have access to the means of making portals) but if a demon leaves Hell they lose most of their power and are more vulnerable which is why most don't risk it. As for the imps, they are considered the lowest demons in the infernal hierarchy and likely do not possess the same power as higher demons but [[NormalFishInATinyPond are still formidable fighters in their own right]] so they aren't hampered by this like the others.
* Confirmed in the ''WebAnimation/HelluvaBoss'' episode "[[Recap/HelluvaBossS2E2SeeingStars Seeing Stars]]", where Stolas' powers upon entering the mortal world are severely curtailed. Though in the earlier "[[Recap/HelluvaBossS1E6TruthSeekers Truth Seekers]]" he was able to affect the mortal world rather dramatically from in Hell.

[[WMG: Redemption is also possible for "native" demons]]
Imps, hellhounds and the like can also choose a more virtuous lifestyle and thus go to heaven like damned souls.

[[WMG: God is a jerkass in this and people are stuck in Hell for stupid reasons like being gay]]

Mostly thinking Vaggie. While a bit high strung, she does seem like a genuinely nice person and willing to go up against one of the most notorious demons to protect her friend and even people she doesn't like like Angel Dust. Vaggie will never be redeemed by the standards of Heaven and will never leave Hell.
* We don't know much about Vaggie yet. In fact, given Angel Dust's "Do you trust any man? any men? men?" line, it's quite possible that she's in Hell for being a [[DistaffCounterpart She-woman]] [[HeManWomanHater Man Hater]], with her sexual orientation not being a factor at all.
** Worth noting are two things regarding sin and damnation in the New Testament. One: slaves/[[DistinctionWithoutADifference servants]] are expected to always obey their masters, even if they are cruel and unjust. Two: [[ThoughtCrime sinful thoughts can get you into Hell just as easy as sinful actions.]] Taking all this together, it's easy to see why Vaggie is in Hell: if she ever had any thoughts or fantasies about disobeying her handlers, killing a john or her pimp, or even escaping her circumstances, and didn't repent for it, she would have been damned to Hell [[EasyRoadToHell even if she never acted on any of them]].
** Small note and clarification on the point of slaves being urged to obey their masters. This is perfectly true, but many other (and even the same verses) also urge masters to be good and prescribed limits to their power (in general, discipline is alright, outright cruelty and permanent damage done to the slave is inexcusable). Also, it should be clarified that the Bible's version of slavery was not the same as more modern concept of Chattel Slavery and was more along the lines of indentured servitude to pay off debts (monetary or otherwise) with a maximum length of 7 years. Unless slave accepted another 7 years of slavery, due to Catch22: slave gets to be free after 7 years, but his wife and children still belong to the owner, so if he wants to be with them he must keep serving the same master.
* Jossed, for Vaggie at least. Vaggie was an Angel and part of Adam's Exorcist army. The reason she ended up in Hell was because she showed mercy to a demon child, and got her winged ripped out as a result, as well as her halo stolen and [[EyeScream her eye speared]].
* Alternatively, given her quick temper and frightening proficiency with blades, she MAY have killed her share of people. Maybe not without reason (clients who tried to stiff her on payment, abusive pimps, etc), but murder is still a definitive no-no.

[[WMG: God ''isn't'' a jerkass, but practicing homosexuality is still a sin]]

A lot of Christians argue that being attracted towards the same sex isn't the sinful part of homosexuality- it's acting on or behaving based on those interests that is. It's possible that God might very well approve of Charlie's plans to rehabilitate sinners; however, that would mean repenting for every sin they've committed, including acting on their homosexual interests. This might actually make for quite the moral dilemma in the show, as various non-heterosexual characters will have to come to terms with the reality that they essentially need to trade any love lives they might have for salvation. None would be affected by this more so than Charlie and Vaggie- the former might start [[IJustWantMyBelovedToBeHappy trying to distance herself from her girlfriend so she might be able to get to Heaven]], and the latter [[RefusingParadise might forgo Heaven]] [[YouAreWorthHell purely by virtue of wanting to stay with Charlie]].
* To me, It looks like Charlie was given a StraightGay non-perverse relationship with Vaggie precisely to reassure viewers that Angel Dust's being ''gay'' has nothing to do with him being in Hell; he's in Hell for being a ''slut'' (and, well, a freaking mobster).

[[WMG: God is the GreaterScopeVillain.]]
This version of God is a [[GodIsEvil vindictive asshole]] who sends people to Hell for the tiniest transgression, even if its not flushing the toilet. He is DrunkWithPower, and every so often makes horrible things like World War II, 9/11, and COVID-19 happen just ForTheEvulz. Heaven is a CrapsaccharineWorld where only those who are violently devoted to Him, and those killed during the annual purge by the Exorcists go to the worst place imaginable: [[Anime/NeonGenesisEvangelion Instrumentality]].

Of course, this isn't the REAL God. The real God has been busy overseeing other universes, and when He returns, He won't be pleased that a pretender has allowed such things as the Vietnam War, Charles Manson, and ''Series/JerseyShore'' to happen, leading to a massive battle between God and the pretender (with Charlie's help).

This is suggested by a poster in the C.H.E.R.U.B ad in episode four of Helluva Boss.

[[WMG: The reasons people are sent to Hell are arbitrary, Heaven is just really strict]]
Depending on what religious sect you follow, the definition of what could be counted as a 'sin' can be really broad. You can definitely have people like Angel dust, who was a mobster in life, or Alastor who was a serial killer. But you can also have those who perhaps turned to sinful behavior due to falling on hard times. Even if sex workers aren't bad people, Vaggie being a prostitute to make ends meet could have been what sent her to Hell to begin with. Or others like drug addicts who were sent there due to addictions.
Premarital sex between a couple, masturbating, homosexuality, pride, vanity, etc. Anything that isn't necessarily a bad thing but [[ValuesDissonance the bible deems a sin]] could get someone sent to hell.

[[WMG: Hell used to be a traditional FireAndBrimstoneHell]]
But after 50 million people died in the 1910s and Earth’s population not only rebounded but skyrocketed the sinners began to outnumber the native demons assigned to torment them. So Lucifer reformatted Hell to make the sinners [[SelfInflictedHell torture themselves]].

[[WMG: Heaven hosts exterminations too.]]
The supposed problem in Hell is overpopulation, presumably because people are doing so many bad things that they keep getting sent downstairs. But there are still good plenty of good people and humanity has been around for a ''while''. So unless heaven is endless compared to Hell, there's bound to be overpopulation issues going on there, too. So, like in Hell, they exterminate a certain amount of the population once a year to lessen up the burden.
However, unlike Hell, full of sinners and people not afraid to fight back, Heaven has a much more orderly version where people either volunteer or are ''chosen'' to leave Heaven, and they accept their fate without a fight. So even if the demons manage to redeem themselves in the hotel and make it to Heaven, they might still face the same fate. But in a way they can't avoid by just running and hiding.

[[WMG: Damnation is universal.]]
Other entries on this page have speculated that the requirements for admission to Heaven are extremely strict. Perhaps it's worse than that (as bad as it can be, really): everyone goes to Hell in this universe. To begin with, consider the lyrics and visuals of "Inside of Every Demon is a Rainbow". If they are any indication, people can go to Hell just for preaching veganism vehemently, telling fortunes, or being "weirdos," "fuckups," or even crying babies. And these individuals are forced to coexist with serial killers, cannibals, and rapists. Seemingly, anything and everything can get someone flung into Hell. No mere mortal is good enough for Heaven. Hell is overpopulated because all humans go there, and the exterminations happen on an annual date rather than at random to give them an air of legitimacy. If angels swooped down and murdered sinners several times a year, that would expose the Exorcists as sadists, no better than the violent criminals who were condemned in the first place. But when the mass murders are made to look like a yearly necessity, then the denizens who don't know any better can blame themselves for their fate, thus compounding their suffering. (Tangent: is the extermination Hell's version of New Year's Eve?)

Furthermore, this element makes sense from a characterization and storytelling perspective. No matter how dark your comedy is, there is a limit to how unsympathetic characters can be before audiences cease rooting for them altogether. The show isn't meant to be just a BlackComedy and nothing else; you can tell from very early on that it's building toward story arcs and character development. "ADDICT" delivers on that, revealing HiddenDepths to Angel Dust and Cherri Bomb in a way that can happen only in the context of mature themes. This series doesn't begin and end with watching horrible people do awful things; we are meant to root for these characters. In other words, not everyone in Hell can be equally evil; some of them even have to be good to an extent—Vaggie, who is aggressive only to people who deliberately try her patience or insult her girlfriend, is a perfect example—and yet they are all forced to live beside one another in Hell, as if they are all judged to be the same by the celestial decision-makers. The setup makes the most sense if cosmic morality is an inversion of Universalism: whoever rules Heaven damns rather than saves all mortals. You can't get into Heaven; you have to be born there, and that's that. What remains to be seen is what the characters will do when they discover that.

[[WMG: Hell's overpopulation crisis stems from the spread of Christianity]]
By stealing people away from native religions, there came too many Christian sinners.

[[WMG: The hotel's opening will start a chain of events that will change the afterlife forever]]
Charlie is going to learn that it's going to take MUCH more then redeeming her people in order to save them. If she wishes to save her people, redeem them, the entire nature of the afterlife will have to change.\
For example, the residents of Heaven and their opinions have seemingly been left out of her considerations. What if some of them don't want damned souls entering -- or at least one or more souls in particular? For example, what if one saved soul was an abuse victim of a damned soul? Or had a child who was killed by one of them in life? Or what if one lost their family to a damned soul? But I don't think it's going to be like that for every saved soul. What about the saved souls who had friends and family who for whatever reason were denied a place in paradise?\
This will lead to more discord in heaven between those who want to widen Heaven's doors, and those who want to close them. Hell won't be immune to infighting either. This time it won't be from turf wars, but between those who believe in redemption, and those consumed by hatred. In order to save everyone in both heaven and hell, two things will have to happen.\
Saved and damned souls alike have to put the past behind them. Whatever they've done in life no longer matters, because the truth they all have to face is they're dead. Time has no more meaning for them, and the final chapter in their stories is over. It's time to focus on the immortal plane, what can be done in their afterlives. At the end of the day, saved and damned souls have more in common then either think, they are defined by their pasts. But all we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. Demons and angels alike will have to let go of their fears and hatred, put their past behind them, and accept that they're all on the same boat whether they like it or not.\
Heaven and Hell must merge. In order for saved and damned souls to put the past behind them, and find ways to make the best of the infinite time they have, the very idea of a division between heaven and hell has to go, along with the idea of infinite punishment for finite crimes. A brand new afterlife will have to be born from a merging of Heaven and Hell. One that has the peace of Heaven, and the freedom of Hell, where all souls go to when they die, regardless of whatever they may have done in life. Some people will have to be reformed, but once that's done, they're free to go nuts.

[[WMG: Being LGBT isn't a sin in this universe, but taking pride in it (or anything else) is]]
Taking one's sexual orientation and/or gender identity as a point to be proud of is a sin in the ''Hazbin Hotel'' universe, even if there's nothing inherently wrong with accepting one's LGBT identity. {{Pride}} is arguably the worst of the SevenDeadlySins, after all. Note that this isn't LGBT-specific or even specific to identity in general: it doesn't matter what you're prideful of, only that you're prideful to begin with. Heaven in this universe is ''extremely'' strict about sin, even if they're not bigoted about it.

[[WMG: Where all the lesser sinners are]]
It does seem somewhat that most of the sinners are of the absolute worse kind and almost everyone in hell is a total jerkass even if you'd expect at least some people sent to hell not the be complete monsters, but at this point it seems only Vaggie (and possibly Husk) seems to really fit that category. I think the reason for this is because in the rough and brutal realm of Hell, all those lesser sinner who got condemned for being a thief or deadbeat parent rather than a murderer or evil mastermind, have all quickly learned to keep their heads down or likely wind up dead either from not being able to defend themselves during the exterminations or getting brutalised by other demons (even if that doesn’t kill them). Related to this is perhaps the reason why no one seems to be showing up at the hotel is because most of the sinners who might be open redemption have long since grown accustomed to surviving by keeping their head down and not drawing attention to themselves. They could fear that the hotel is a trap (since I wouldn’t be surprise if many people assume the daughter of lucifer is just faking her cheerfulness) or at the very least it would draw attention to them for what is considered a fool’s errand.

[[WMG: There are meanings to certain aspects of demons' appearances]]
Such as how they died, the nature of their sin(s), their allegiances...

[[WMG: The nature and severity of someone's sins helps determine how powerful they are in Hell]]
I don't think this needs much explaining.
** Probably jossed, since Jeffrey Dahmer is simply a celebrity chef in Hell despite being a pedophile, necrophiliac, and serial killer, and although Alastor's victim count or morality while human isn't precisely known yet, he gained his power through currently unknown means and cemented his reputation as TheDreaded by broadcasting his carnage over the radio in Hell to get to where he is today. By that logic, Hitler, Stalin, Mussolini, Mao Zedong, and Slobodan Milošević (among others) would be much higher on the totem pole than Alastor or the other overlords, and even other serial killers with high body counts like Andrei Chikatilo would (in theory) have a similar footing with Alastor even if the harnessing of raw power by the latter wasn't a factor.

[[WMG: Some souls grow more inhuman-looking the longer they spend in Hell]]
Self-explanatory, really.

[[WMG: Theories on what happens to souls when they are exterminated.]]
Even though Angel Dust was being a jerk when he suggested it, he does bring up a legitimate question. What happens to souls after the get exterminated? They already died once. Can they die again? Can they be deader than dead?
A few theories might be possible:
* 1. The soul simply stops existing. (In which case, it's a wonder how everyone hasn't committed suicide as an escape if Hell is so horrible).
* 2. They escape Hell and either get an upgrade to Purgatory or a downgrade to some lower sphere of Hell that nobody on the surface knows of.
* 3. Their soul becomes a permanent fixture of Hell itself as its energy.
** Confirmed in one of Vivzie's streams.
* 4. Satan or a demon consumes it and becomes stronger.

[[WMG: Hell is partially self-inflicted.]]
When mortals die who hold personal guilt for something that they can't let go of even something not wrong but against current social norms like homosexuality in the 60s, believe they are going to hell for whatever reason, or feel subconsciously that they deserve punishment they end up in hell even if they were otherwise good people. However this applies in all forms so for someone like Alastor who doesn't feel guilt for his actions but is aware that if hell exists as described it was his likely destination they still end up in hell. Heaven incidentally follows this same pattern and is thus full of sanctimonious assholes.

[[WMG: The nature of someone's sins, base impulses vs intellectual choices, determines how human they look in Hell.]]
Alastor for example committed sins of intelligent choice. His actions were wrong or at least contrary to the normal morality and so his crimes would result in punishment but did it anyway because he choose to. As a result Alastor looks significantly more human then say Husk does. Similarly Vaggie committed herself to prostitution in life as means to an end, acutely aware that the moral system she lived in disapproved of this, rather then accepting death or hunting fruitlessly for another way until death. Angel Dust by contrast committed bestial sins, a failure to control his base impulses for pleasure whenever possible that lead to an eventual overdose. As a result Angle Dust looks more animalistic to reflect the nature of his failings.

[[WMG: It'll turn out that HellOfAHeaven and perhaps GodIsEvil is in full force]]
We already saw the silhouettes of blood spattered Exorcists, and of course the fact that god lets hundreds of demons die every year, really puts a wrench in the idea that they were moral in the first place. It could take ''Series/TheGoodPlace'' approach of actively deconstructing it all.
* Angel Dust will pull an epic rant to heaven.
-->'''Angel Dust''': This is Bullsh!t!
-->'''Cherub''': Watch your tongue!
-->'''Angel Dust''': I will not. You're all shitty assholes. You think you'ew so holy and pure because you set up the rules and worded them so perfectly that any interpretation could be the wrong one when really, it's your own sick little game. It's not a game. It's our lives! You have your rules, but we didn't get the chance to decide if we wanted to live by them. You get some twisted enjoyment of of manipulating everyone and everything! and guess what? we're now done playing your F!CKED up little game anymore. You're nothing but SICK CONTROL FREAKS! Well, F!CK that and F!CK you! I rather be sent to Hell than Heaven! Heaven is F!CKING the WORST!

[[WMG: Certain demons in hell are hated by [[EvenEvilHasStandards everyone]]]]
In real life prisons, certain kinds of prisoners are hated by even the other inmates to the point where they require special protection to prevent assassination attempts. These include bad cops, snitches, sex offenders, and anyone who's brought harm to a child or an elderly person. As such, it would make sense if, when these prisoners die, they are still just as hated for committing some of the worst acts possible, enough to make other demons look better.

[[WMG: Lucifer is not the most powerful demon in Hell.]]
There could be hundreds of [[AncientEvil Ancient Evils]], [[EldritchAbomination Eldritch Abominations]], or dark gods from other mythologies lurking within the outer rings of Hell (Katie Killjoy did allude to there being nine circles). They would almost certainly be BeyondRedemption, and may not even have sentience. And the only reason they haven't completely annihilated all of Hell is because they are either dormant or being held back by some divine or demonic force. It's possible that one of Alastor's last ditch efforts to sabotage the hotel will be to release them to wreak havoc.

[[WMG: "After all, the world is a stage. And a stage is a world of entertainment." ]]
Charlie is able to warp reality and teleport all over Hell as long as she is singing and making a show. The reality of Hell works like that on a fundamental level. From a Doylist perspective that is definitively true: the world is a show on Website/YouTube. It will last as long as the audience finds it interesting or amusing and pays to watch it.
From a Watsonian perspective...

Vaggie tells Charlie that life is not a musical. But Charlie has the power to make the world work exactly like a musical! And so does Alastor. Vaggie's description of Alastor is:
"He'd broadcast his carnage all throughout Hell just so everyone could witness his ability... He's an unpredictable source of danger, a wicked spirit of mystery and a violent monster of chaos the likes of which we can't risk getting involved with unless we want to end up erased!"

Doesn't that description fit Charlie as well during her "Inside of every demon is a rainbow" performance?

Just look at it from the point of view of your average demon watching (or, Heaven help you, being forced to be part of) the presentation:

When is this happening?

After angelic extermination, when new Overlords are established, old balance of power is overthrown, existing territories are changed and new areas gained. A princess of Hell comes to TV and publicly demonstrates her powers. For the average demon on the street, she would look like any other challenger. A challenger trying to recruit followers even.

What is her story?

If you follow my leadership and fulfill my plans, you will get redemption and go to Heaven. Just do what I tell you, obey me and a new future is possible. That's both a rebellious plot and what is possibly the oldest con in Hell.
"For a small price, I'll show you how to get out of here and go to Heaven." is the thing that only the new arrivals in Hell fall for.

What are the powers she demonstrates?

One word: scary! Her story might be weak, but the powers are top notch. She is able to teleport all over the place, even into the realms/territories of other demons (black and white world, all sorts of bars and nooks and crannies). But not only she can teleport herself, she is able to teleport other people anywhere she imagines (camera crew gets to follow her during the whole musical number), as is demonstrated with her teleporting sexual deviants into the bar with boozers and "summoning" hatchet wielding maniacs when she needs them (out of woodwork in what appears to be an abandoned theatre).
She can also teleport into your house, take your drugs and destroy them. She can kidnap you on the street and have her minions inject you with "happy cocktail" ("while you're in our care, we'll cure your sin, we'll make you well, you'll feel so swell" part of the song). She can manifest both hellfire and clouds and puppies. And she can [[GettingSmiliesPaintedOnYourSoul Paint Smilies On Your Soul]] and change the way you look and act as long as she is singing.

In short: The whole thing sounds like a stick and carrot offer a fledgling dealmaking demon lord or lady would make. Just compare Charlie's powers with Alastor's.

Summoning minions/other demons against their will: Check.

Creating things out of thin air: Check.

Changing ways people look and act while he is singing: Check.

Redecorating his environment to his advantage: Check.

Both Charlie and Alastor can do anything as long as it is cinematic, scenic, musical or showy enough. The difference is that Charlie was born with that power and Alastor gained it through other means.

[[WMG: Extermination is redemption.]]
When a soul is ready to move on to Heaven, it has to be reaped from its demonic form. Overpopulation is a lie spread by Lucifer to keep souls longer, and by the Exorcists so demons don't try to impale themselves on their spears. When Charlie discovers this, she will despair over her efforts to solve a problem that did not exist. But she will then find that she did help shorten Angel Dust's stay in Hell, and make his "double death" more peaceful.
* However, this creates a new problem in that those weapons are used by other demons to kill their rivals, meaning many non-redeemed people are being sent to heaven.

[[WMG: The exterminations are happening because there is also no more room in Heaven]]
Because the alternative would be to purge people in Heaven instead, the Exorcists are sent yearly to make room in Hell, and just send the newly dead there instead. This is why a more-or-less decent person like Vaggie is in Hell in the first place.

[[WMG: Some of the demons are actually angels]]
Perhaps some of them either rebelled against God and Heaven, while others simply criticised God for certain things (e.g. condemning women to Hell for not obey husbands, or having premarital sex just once), and God's a total PsychopathicManChild who gets mad over the slightest criticism as many have suggested.

[[WMG:The Exorcists are actually demons in disguise/Lucifer is the mastermind behind the Exorcists.]]
They exist to spread fear through hell, eliminate weaker demons in anticipation of a war between heaven and hell, and maintain the status quo of Lucifer's dominion. The Exorcists are not actually from Heaven at all. Rather, they were angels at some point, but fell from grace, and now serve as Lucifer's own private army. The whole "population crisis" is all just nonsense that Lucifer made up. In reality, the Exorcists, and the Exterminations in general, are all apart of a secret smear campaign by Lucifer to paint Heaven as evil and genocidal, certainly causing more demons to fear Heaven, reject the idea of redemption, and join him in his war against God.
* As an alternative, they're turncoats who agree to the slaughter of their fellows in exchange for benefits (safety, feeling powerful, sanctioned murder, etc)

[[WMG: Lucifer supports the annual extermination.]]
* Hell is supposed to be a place of punishment and eternal damnation, a place people want to avoid. However, it seems like life in Hell is an orgy of the sins, greed and perversion that condemned the demons in the first place. How does a place like that function? By saying, “laugh it up now, your days are numbered.” Lucifer needing to run Hell as a place of punishment, supports this.
** As an alternative, he may hate the Exterminations, but also realize that they're on the direct orders of, and backed by, his former/possibly still current BOSS. From his perspective, it's something that he can't really do anything about, so he just has to roll with it.

[[WMG: If Jesus ever appears, the episode featuring him will highlight how he and Charlie are not so different]]
They're children of prominent figures in Abrahamic religions who want to redeem people, hanging out with those seen as worthy of scorn and contempt to bring out the best in them (or stand up for them if there's no justifiable cause for said scorn), and they themselves were subject to mockery and ridicule for their [[WideEyedIdealist radical idealism]], particularly from powerful people. If Charlie's Hotel actually starts to work, then powerful demons in Hell might want to destroy it to secure their death grips on power, most likely by turning locals against it with lies and propaganda, not unlike the Romans and Pharisees of Jesus' time.

[[WMG: Charlie will turn out to have been mentally influenced by Jesus this entire time.]]
* The Christian Bible says that Jesus is the only way into Heaven, after all ("I am the light. There is no way to The Father except through me."), and Jesus guiding Charlie into starting this Hotel to save the damned should logically be no metaphysically different than an unruly mortal on Earth earning salvation by changing their ways after several talkings-to by a therapist or preacher.

[[WMG: People start doing gay stuff *after* getting sent to hell]]
After decades of meaningless heterosexual depravity, a lot of people just need to spice things up a bit. Even if you thought homosexuality was a sin while on Earth, you're already in Hell, where are they gonna send you, [[WesternAnimation/SouthPark Detroit]]?

[[WMG: Going to Hell can change your sexuality]]
If it changes your appearance and abilities, who's to say it can't also change other biological components?

[[WMG: In this universe, if a transgender person dies, the form they take in the afterlife will reflect their gender identity]]
After all, it only makes sense that their soul would match their gender identity.

[[WMG:When you go to Hell, something happens to your accent]]
After all, there are multiple characters who logically should have distinctive/unusual accents (Vaggie and Alastor come to mind), but don't. Whether it moderates to something more "neutral", just changes at random, or does something else entirely remains to be seen.
* In Alastor's case, as a former radio host he likely would have learned to suppress his natural Creole accent in favor of the Standard American accent.
** Adding to this, Vaggie may also have learned/been forced to suppress her native Salvadorian accent to appeal to more clients

[[WMG: In all but morality, Heaven and Hell will be the same]]
In an aversion to the common theory that [[GodAndSatanAreBothJerks both Heaven and Hell will be shitty places to be]], in this WMG I'll advocate for the possibility that, while Heaven is still the place where the good and righteous end up, they'll otherwise be not so different- while God and Jesus, or their equivalents, will still be ruling parties, there will be other high-ranking angels or demigod-like beings not unlike Hell's Overlords, as well as cities and towns with non-sinful businesses (such as art studios, for but one example) and maybe even conflicting ideologies between how Heaven should work- Universalists who advocate for redemption in Hell (a potential ally of Charlie, should this theory be true), Templars who advocate for the purge in Hell, etc.

[[WMG: Heaven's treatment of humans is (mostly) just]]

Some of the demons are sympathetic, but they still crossed the Moral Event Horizon. Angel Dust was a mobster in a particularly violent time in gang history. It's likely that he killed an innocent person or two. Katy Killjoy went out of her way to ruin her interviewees and her data info lists her as liking torture. Cherri Bomb was a violent anarchist, Alastair was a serial killer, and Valentino is self explanatory. Mrs Mayberry could have just ordered a hit on Martha, but she took it one step further and included her entire family when she had no idea that they were serial killers. Even if the purge kills many of the newcomers and the more violent inmates subjugate the rest, since millions of people die daily wouldn't someone have accepted Charlie's offer and tried to redeem themselves- or at least reform enough so they could live peacefully in the hotel? Until the purges, sinners weren't sentenced to a Fiery Brimstone Hell, they were exiled from Heaven and turned the city into a hellhole themselves. Considering just how many people there have been in the world, it's no surprise that cramming even a number like .0001% of it in a single city doesn't work. Charlie's trying to force the sinners over to the other side of that line, and the question is that even if they can reform, can they truly be forgiven?

[[WMG: This universe takes place in the same universe as WesternAnimation/StarVsTheForcesOfEvil.]]
Style, existence of magic, superheroes.

[[WMG: Most of our protagonists will represent the SevenDeadlySins]]
The likeliest idea will be [[ViolentlyProtectiveGirlfriend Vaggie]] representing Wrath, [[LovableSexManiac Angel]] obviously being Lust, Husk being Sloth and [[BigRedDevil Alastor]] being Greed. The rest are up for grabs, though [[TokenGoodTeammate Charlie]] will likely be the only one ''not'' representing a sin.
** Ironically, Charlie already is exemplifying one of the seven sins. Fittingly, the same as her father. Pride. In her case, turned to a positive end, but Pride nonetheless.
[[WMG: Charlie will end up impressing God enough that He brings back those exterminated]]
If she can prove that even those in Hell can be reformed, He'll recall the souls of the exterminated so that they can also have a chance to redeem themselves. Since God is omnipotent, it shouldn't be beyond His capabilities.

[[WMG: There is an EvilCounterpart to Charlie in Heaven.]]
While most of Heaven is all light and wholesome like you'd expect it to be, the princess of Heaven is a vulgar AlphaBitch who plans to start a hotel of her own that tempts everyone there into turning evil like her and going to Hell.
* Alternatively, there could be an archangel that's grown cynical because of the rigid standards You-Know-Who has set and has caused both an under-population crisis in heaven and has resulted in too many holier-then-thou people going to Heaven just because they sing praises to Him while cursing out people He doesn't like. They might even get a song titled along the lines of "Inside of Every Angel is an Asshole", where he bemoans how he feels everyone deep down is awful. Granted, he/she doesn't have to be an EvilCounterpart, just a {{foil}}.
* Jossed. There is a Counterpart of Charlie in Heaven, Emily the Seraphim, but she actually supports Charlie's idea of Redemption and surprisingly, or unsurprisingly depending on the viewers view point, Emily is the only one in Heaven that actually cares about all human life, even the ones in Hell.

[[WMG: Heaven will be a democracy (are at least have some democratic elements)]]
Perhaps to contrast the Monarchs and Overlords of Hell, Heaven will instead be portrayed as having a more democratic system in place, perhaps with a Prime Minister acting as God's representative and such.

[[WMG: The souls of the exterminated are reincarnated in the Mortal Realm]]
While the energies used to make up their bodies become part of Hell, their souls end up reborn as mortals with no memories of who they were before.

[[WMG: Heaven will turn out to be an awful, overrated place]]
The first hint we get that Heaven might not be all that nice is the existence of the Exorcists. Heaven apparently decides it would be better to kill sinners rather than create more space for them to deal with overpopulation. And based on Deerie's own harsh attitude to her own Cherubs, it is possible Hell isn't overpopulated because people are bad. Heaven is just a malignantly strict place run by elitists with no shred of sympathy for even the most minor criminals.

It's clear that Heaven would prefer to exterminate the sinners rather than actually give anyone a single chance.

[[WMG: The conflict between Satan and God is more GreyAndGrayMorality]]
It is possible that Lucifer's beef with God is not nearly as black and white as we've been lead to believe, [[VillainHasAPoint and Lucifer might have genuinely legitimate gripes with how God has been running things]].

One common maltheistic argument is that God is at best an abusive helicopter parent and at worst a capricious monster wanting everyone to be bent to His will. Another argument is that Heaven, with its rejection of vices, is like an ultra-conservative country club: beautiful but strict and exclusionary.

As shown with [[SugaryMalice Deerie]] and [[NoSympathy how she treated C.H.E.R.U.B]], Heaven doesn't seem to be to be a particularly accepting place if an accident is enough to get you banned for life. Similarly, while C.H.E.R.U.B are saints, they seem prioritize [[SkewedPriorities keeping one rich asshole alive over other more meaningful deeds that could help society]]. The Exorcists seem indiscriminate in who they slaughter, killing not only petty crooks, but even minor criminals who did nothing that horrible.

Heaven might be a place full of overtly dictatorial, snobbish elitists and aristocrats who sneer and look down at others.

Lucifer wasn't just some usurper, but someone so sick of the way things were run, he honestly thought he could do a better job.

Many pro-Satan groups see Satan as a symbol of freedom. And Hell, as we've seen, does have a measure of open-mindedness. Drugs can be used freely from vending machines, people like Angel and Charlie can be open about their sexual preferences without fear of being judged. It is telling that Blitzo, despite being a professional killer, is a more laid back person than a cherub who's job is, ostensibly, the betterment of man.

But Hell is also a place full of crime and poverty. Where you have assassins that can advertise their actions, and where people like Angel can also be prayed upon by pimps like Valentino. While the authorities don't go out of their way to persecute you, they also won't protect you if someone goes after you. While Lucifer means well, he's hurt others with promoting TOO MUCH vice and debauchery.

Heaven may not be a nice place, but God is also correct that people need order and organization to run their lives. Deerie herself may come off as overly strict, but it is possible she is just operating under the rules she was taught from birth, and she genuinely believes she is doing the right thing.

Charlie's goal might evolve beyond merely redeeming sinners, but trying to find a middle ground between the extremes of God and her father.

[[WMG:There's similar moral variation in Heaven as in Hell]]
Most of the mortal souls up there are good and pleasant people, with the occasional jackass who ends up there for whatever reason, much like how most sinners in Hell are assholes with a handful of decent people like Vaggie here and there. But much like there are some among Hell's natives who have strong moral compasses (like Moxxie) or are just good people all round (like Charlie), there are also some native angels who are assholes (like Deerie).

[[WMG:Some in Heaven will have understandable reasons to oppose Charlie's redemption plan]]
The ability to redeem one's soul after being sent to Hell would let people do whatever they want while they're alive and wait until they arrive downstairs to clean up their acts. This could have some severe negative repercussions in the mortal realm. Not to mention it would be pretty traumatizing for some people behind the pearly gates if their tormentors were suddenly with them. And what happens if a redeemed sinner relapses and starts causing trouble upstairs?

[[WMG:Hell has seven rings ''and'' nine circles]]
In ''The Divine Comedy'', many of the nine circles of Hell were further subdivided. So it's entirely possible that the highest circle of Hell in this universe has seven rings.

[[WMG:What the seven rings look/are like and features they have]]
We've only visited three rings thus far, and only certain parts of them, so there's certainly room for speculation. Note that considering the rings may be very large, these might not necessarily be mutually exclusive. Listed in no particular order:
* Pride:
* Wrath:
** In addition to the Wild West-themed farmland and the volcanic areas, there are also many dangerous wilderness areas including jungles, tundras and deserts. These environments are prone to natural disasters and full of deadly wildlife.
** There's probably at least one seemingly perpetual warzone.
* Sloth:
** It's the most technologically advanced of the rings and its inhabitants are largely reliant on the machines to do their work for them. Ironically, this is actually the most pleasant ring to live in: the basic standard of living is high enough for its inhabitants to be lazy, and most of them aren't going to do evil because it's too much work for them to bother.
** A disgusting, fetid environment like a particularly nasty swamp or a gigantic sewer.
* Envy:
** This is a largely aquatic/marine ring, maybe with some islands or other patches of dry land. Maybe most of the inhabitants are underwater. If this is true, then it's likely three rings down from Pride, because Blitzo references "the nearest ocean" being there.
* Lust:
* Greed:
** Mostly segregated between extremely rich, lavish areas and extremely poor slums and industrial zones who toil away to make money for Mammon and the other wealthy of the ring.
* Gluttony:
** Quite possibly the lowest of the rings, if only for the "bottom-feeder" pun.
** One possibility is that it's a rotting cavern of corpse-like flesh, or at least contains caves that are like that.

[[WMG: Heaven is the way it is now because GodsHandsAreTied.]]
The theory was made by [[https://youtube.com/channel/UCqAZvOTXWHACXIi2k6n5p9w Finn the Pony]], but it's worth bringing up here. The theory is that Heaven is as bad as it seems in the ''Helluva Boss'' episode C.H.E.R.U.B because God is no longer actively governing Heaven. With populations on Earth constantly climbing, maintaining humanity to some level of stability has taken up ''all'' of God's attention and efforts. He trusted His angels to run Heaven by following His standards and example, but they became complacent and entitled as time passed, turning Heaven into a gated community where they keep the "trash" out so it won't spoil their little utopia. If and when we finally meet God, he'll be a completely overworked, neurotic mess in desperate need of a hug and a nap. See the video bringing up this theory [[https://youtube.com/watch?v=lHd6oYUu5O8 here]].

[[WMG: Heaven and Hell will, in the end, be revealed to be [[TheHorseshoeEffect fundamentally indistinguishable beneath the surface]], and that the main conflict between them is OrderVersusChaos]].
On the surface level, Heaven seems to be a far nice, friendlier place than Hell. I mean, here is what we find in Hell:
** Brutal gangs who engage in turf wars that are so violent, Vaggie refers to the battles as "territorial genocide".
** Corrupt pimps who have tremendous power over demons, i.e Valentino.
** Sadistic demon overlords that subject the denizens of Hell to their capricious whims, i.e. Alastor.
** That all manner of vices and businesses, from drugs to assassinations, are not only legal, but can advertise their services.
** A central government that has zero interest in providing for the general welfare or safety of the public.

So yeah, Hell isn't that great of a place to wind up. But based on what little we see from both shows, Heaven has quite a few flaws:
** An entire group of angels who wipe out countless sinners every year, regardless of their crime. Essentially, they commit genocide with an annual regularity, and do so without a hint of remorse.
** Angelic beings who are less than competent at their jobs, and can cause the death of humans without any accountability. Instead, they obsess over things like taking the Lord's name in vain.
** Angelic overlords who have little problem throwing out loyal followers for the tiniest of offenses, i.e. Deerie. There seems to be no rule of law, since angels can be tossed out without any kind of appeals process.

In the end, there won't be any real difference between the two places: Heaven and Hell will both turn out to be horrible, strict, and tyrannical places with cruel, murderous, and downright selfish elites.

[[WMG: Personalities and appearances of the rulers of the 7 Deadly Sins and other Goetic demons.]]
!!The 7 Deadly Sins
* Asmodeus:
** We've already seen what appears to be his silhouette in the Helluva' Boss trailer. As for his clothing he could be wearing an outfit similar to Mr. Slave from ''WesternAnimation/SouthPark''. As for his personality, he's usually an AffablyEvil party animal as befitting the ruler of the sin of lust, he's also a BenevolentBoss by the standards of Hell and his apparent confrontation with I.M.P his due to them attacking or harassing his employees.
*** "Ozzie's" is the proper introduction. Asomodeus is a giant rooster-like demon who runs the Ring of Lust and owns the "Ozzie's" nightclub. He belittles Moxxie for singing a love song in a club all about lust, killing the mood, and calls out Stolas for ruining his marriage with his affair to Blitz, all while singing a broadway number. Season 2 would further flesh him out by demonstrating he's a {{hypocrite}}, being genuinely in love with an Imp, Fizzarolli, despite being an even higher position than Stolas, and is actually close to friends with Stolas outside of that one night at the club.

* Leviathan:
** Their true form is a massive sea monster that resembles a classical sea serpent mixed with a Lovecraftian elder god but can shapeshift to a smaller more humanoid form to travel out of the water. Their personality is that of a resentful [[TheStarscream Starscream type]] who desires to rule Hell and hates Lucifer for already doing so but also fears his power, so they instead do everything they can to try and one-up him.

* Beelzebub:
** They are an insectoid humanoid due to their title of "Lord of the Flies". Their personality that actually that of a WickedPretentious member of high society who wastes much of their food and resources, often in from of the poor and hungry.
** For that matter, since Moxxie heavily implies Beelzebub is female, she'll be a BigBeautifulWoman (albeit with said beauty heavily offset by JabbaTableManners).
** Based on previews for Helluva Boss Season 2 showing a beehive location and a food order app (Beelzebub is associated with gluttony) on Blitzo's phone having a bee motif, Beelzebub probably will be a queen bee.
*** "Queen Bee" marks her debut. Bee-Lzebub is a fox/hellhound mixed with a bee. She's a HardDrinkingPartyGirl to the extreme who likes to throw giant parties for her guests to overindulge in food, drink, drugs, and general fun.

* Belphegor:
** A slovenly, overweight human-like demon wearing filthy, simple clothes and who's always either riding something or being carried by someone to avoid walking. His personality is an apathetic LazyBum who is always using wither other people or tools to do the work for him.
*** Alternatively, [[VisualPun he will literally be a demonic sloth]].
*** Bee-Lzebub lets us know that Belphegor [[GenderFlip is a woman]] in this setting. She also keeps a stash of hard drugs and runs the only major hospital in Hell.
** Belphegor will likely be a huge black and magenta Goat like demon with prosthetics legs and wear a neon pink robe and will more or less be the OnlySaneMan of the sins.

* Satan:
** Their appearance is that of a stereotypical BigRedDevil, similar to the imps but far more monstrous and wearing dark, tattered cowboy clothing. Their personality is more FauxAffablyEvil, hiding their sadism and bloodlust behind a seemingly pleasant demeanor.

* Mammon:
** Assuming the jester picture of the hell money wasn't him then he'll be a dragon-like demon wearing a nice modern suit. His personality will be that of a stereotypical corporate CEO, using any underhanded method he can think of to ring more cash out of others while also trying to avoid spending any money in the process.
** "MAMMON'S MAGNIFICENT MUSICAL MIDSEASON SPECIAL (ft. Fizzarolli)" would see his debut, confirming he is the jester. He's an arachnid-like demon and a FatBastard that exploits anyone he can for fame and fortune without even bothering to hide it, treating everything like a triviality or joke until it's made abundantly clear to him when someone isn't doing what he wants.

!!The Goetic Demons
* Marchosias:
** Their appearance resembles a large hellhound with feathered wings and a reptilian tail with smoke billowing out their mouth but they can shift into a more monstrous form similar to Stolas, they will also be female to make the Geotia demons a bit less of a sausage fest. Their personality is that of a friendly, honest BoisterousBruiser who desires to return to Heaven which leads them to checking into the Hazbin Hotel.

* Amon:
** His appearance is a somewhat more anthropomorphic version of his classical design. As a nod to his ability help people fall in love and helping friends and enemies reconcile, he's like a marriage counselor who tries to always find a middle ground between people and helps sort out their differences.

* Decarabia
** In the Ars Goetia, Decarabia takes the form of a pentagram before turning into a man at the summoner's request. In the show, he will be an Expy of [[WesternAnimation/GravityFalls Bill Cipher]], being a floating living shape, in his case a pentagram, with stick figure limbs, some clothing, and a single eye.

* Paimon
** They will look like a sultan and also make references to Film/{{Hereditary}}, another A24 production. As per lore, they will treat Charlie with respect, as they are one of the few Goetic demons loyal to Lucifer.

* Valak
** Like Paimon above, they will make reference to a movie series they are known for being in, in this case Film/TheConjuring2.

* Orobas
** He'll show up in his classic bipedal horse design and be voiced by ''Creator/WillArnett'' as a reference to ''WesternAnimation/BojackHorseman''.

* Malphas
** In line with his depiction in demonology, Malphas will be a raven demon who runs a massive construction/demolition company that is the main contractor for Hell's infrastructure. Has a habit of twisting the wording of contracts to his advantage. He is somewhat at odds with the more aristocratic members of the Goetia Royalty, who look down on his business ventures.

[[WMG:The "demonic" forms we occasionally see demons taking are ''not'' their true forms]]
The only time we've seen demons transform (other than Charlie, who apparently just did it for a musical number) are when they are being aggressive. Meanwhile, demons simply take their "normal" forms when in Hell, when there are [[AFormYouAreComfortableWith no mortals around for such forms to be comfortable with]]. Hence, it follows that the the "normal" forms you see in Hell really ''are'' their "true forms", where as the "demonic forms" are some kind of defence (or offence) mechanism, the supernatural equivalent of a pufferfish inflating itself to scare away predators (or the reverse).

[[WMG: Villains, notable sinners, and other antagonistic characters from the Bible are celebrities or otherwise important figures in Hell.]]
Such as Cain, Judas, and Longinus.

[[WMG: Angels that could appear in the show:]]
* {{Metatron}}: Will essentially always appear to speak on God's behalf, which is inconvenient for anyone who wants to speak to the Big Man Upstairs directly. A RunningGag will also be that his name is mispronounced [[Franchise/{{Transformers}} Megatron]], with [[OnlySaneMan VAGGIE]] [[NotSoAboveItAll being the main offender]], due to her being the only one who would know what the franchise is.[[note]]The Transformers toys were first introduced in 1984. Alastor died in 1933, Angel died in 1947, Niffty died during the 1950s, and Husk died during the 1970s. Charlie was never human and has never been exposed to Earth pop culture in the first place.[[/note]] Metatron being commonly believed to be Enoch, who AscendedToAHigherPlaneOfExistence, may play a role in how the series approaches ascended sinners.
* ArchangelAzrael: The archangel of death will either be in charge of the Exorcists or be the [[HorsemenOfTheApocalypse Pale Rider]], voiced by Creator/GregEagles, as a CastingGag to WesternAnimation/TheGrimAdventuresOfBillyAndMandy, fitting, since the voices of fellow star Creator/RichardStevenHorvitz and show creator Creator/MaxwellAtoms feature prominently in this setting.
* ArchangelMichael: Though all the angels are siblings, Michael's brotherly relationship with Lucifer, Gabriel, and Raphael will be the most pronounced. Since Michael is in scripture described as the general of Heaven's armies who personally cast Lucifer down, he will have an antagonistic role towards his niece, being a stickler for the order God has set.
* ArchangelGabriel: May appear to deliver a WhamLine to his niece and her crew, seeing as he is the Messenger of God.
* {{Lawyer Friendly Cameo}}s of [[Anime/PantyAndStockingWithGarterbelt Panty and Stocking]], [[Series/{{Supernatural}} Castiel, Zachariah, Naomi]], [[Series/GoodOmens2019 Aziraphale]], [[Series/Lucifer2016 Amenadiel]], [[Series/TouchedByAnAngel Monica, Andrew, Tess]], and the Anime/NeonGenesisEvangelion Angels.
* Adina: Drawing from one of the pre-premiere [=WMGs=], she will be a CanonImmigrant from Webcomic/{{Zoophobia}} just like Alastor and Angel Dust and will be exactly like how she was in her cancelled arc: a [[TautologicalTemplar Tautological]] KnightTemplar who believes all of those who have fallen from Heaven's light are deserving of only eradication, i.e. the embodiment of the worst of Heaven. And she'll go around doing this, whether that be personally executing her enemies or having someone else do it, with a [[DissonantSerenity perpetual calm, gentle smile on her relaxed face]].
* Ars Paulina angels: The demons from the Literature/ArsGoetia already exist in this setting's Hell, so it stands to reason that the angels in the Lesser Key of Solomon's book on angels exist in this Heaven as well. These angels hold dominion over the hours of the day and the Zodiac, the latter of whom may be rivals of Stolas, considering they too have astrological duties but are on opposite sides.

[[WMG: BishonenLine is in effect with the historical Sinners.]]
As proposed in the Headscratchers page, Jeffrey Dahmers may look like how he did in life, just with generic demonic traits slapped on, because of how monstrous and infamous he was in life that he couldn't really look any more devilish. This would seemingly go against the popular fan theory that how monstrous a Sinner's demon form is is directly proportional to how sinful they were in life, but it's possible that at a certain point of evil and notoriety, a Sinner's unaltered appearance would turn into less of an image of a normal human and more a monster that looks very human. Thus, people who are known the world over for their cruelty and atrocities, like UsefulNotes/AdolfHitler, UsefulNotes/JosephStalin, UsefulNotes/BenitoMussolini, UsefulNotes/HidekiTojo, UsefulNotes/{{Caligula}}, UsefulNotes/{{Nero}}, UsefulNotes/SaddamHussein, UsefulNotes/OsamaBinLaden, Pol Pot, among many others will more or less look how they did in life. The exceptions would probably be UsefulNotes/JackTheRipper and the Zodiac Killer, as no one knows what they really looked like.

[[WMG: Creator/FredRogers...]]
Is one of the [[EasyRoadToHell few]] mortal souls in Heaven. Because come on, it's ''Mister Rogers''! Alternatively, even ''him'' having been sent to the Pride Ring could act as an OhCrap moment for the audience, showing just how corrupt Heaven has become.

[[WMG: Hell (well, the Pride ring at least) used to be more like [[IronicHell the traditional]] [[FireAndBrimstoneHell Hell]]. ]]
However either the traditional damnation became so routine [[ConditionedToAcceptHorror sinners stopped registering it as a punishment]], or Lucifer decided he was sick of essentially doing the angels' dirty work, so he decided he liked the "Hell Is Other People" route [[SelfInflictedHell and let people torment themselves with their own vices]]. The other demons were probably sick of having to get involved in the damned's problems anyway. The angels had long since stopped caring what happens to damned souls at that point so they allowed it.

[[WMG: JesusWasWayCool will be in effect.]]
Since it's common among works drawing from theology that don't have favorable depictions of Heaven to depict Jesus as a lovable dude, like ''Series/{{Good Omens|2019}}''. However, if used, this would make this setting's version of Heaven ''even worse'', as [[{{Hypocrite}} they claim]] to operate and set standards according to His teachings, but spit on the spirit of what He wants for humanity and do things He really wouldn't appreciate.

[[WMG: Jesus will be an asshole]]
For the sake of being incredibly subversive, Jesus will be portrayed as a Steve Jobs-like marketer whose true talent was portraying himself as greater than he really was, with his "Messiah" image being part of a grand hustle he was playing only to get caught up too far and got sold out by Judas for incredibly justifiable reasons and in any future appearances will be used to satirize fads and trends such as [=NFTs=] or whatever becomes popularized in the future. His image in history was enforced by the fact that the apostles were more than willing to exploit the image to further his cult of personality for their own ends.

[[WMG: Lucifer has a more complex reason for keeping the sinners limited to the Pride Circle.]]
While it isn't a permanent solution, letting the sinners live in the other six circles of Hell would help with the overpopulation crisis, so why doesn't Lucifer do so? It could just be he's a dick ([[{{Satan}} duh]]) and wants a monopoly on them, or is keeping up some form of CelestialBureaucracy/Hell as a form of punishment. However the mechanics of Hell and what we've seen in ''WebAnimation/HelluvaBoss'' makes a more practical option possible: keeping the inmates in the asylum. As seen with the sister series while demonic royalty can only be harmed with holy weapons like the sinners, the common demon is as mortal (though tougher) as humans in the living world. Which could lead to more chaos than the FallenAngel would care for if they could spread across all seven circles...to say nothing of the Exorcists treading on the entirety of Hell and not just one portion of it.

[[ParentsAsPeople This could build into a nice contrast between him and Charlie]] without resorting to Lucifer being the typical ArchnemesisDad the devil has with the AntiAntiChrist; believing that it's best for sinners and natural born demons to be kept apart for the latter's safety and peace of mind would imply [[HumansAreTheRealMonsters he finds humans more inherently dangerous than the natives of Hell]], putting him at odds ideologically to Charlie's believe that RousseauWasRight. It'd also give Charlie a more personal reason for her crusader to redeem sinners; [[WellDoneSonGuy proving to her father she's right]]. If Lilith is still a former human in this series, it could work as HiddenDepths that despite Lucifer's cynical perspective [[HiddenHeartOfGold he might be convinced to believe in her]].

[[WMG:The Exorcists are PunchClockVillains]]
Sure, they are extremely bloodthirsty and love violence during their annual extermination... when they're on the job. When they're off the job however, they're probably more nicer, affable, and casually than the other angels when they're not doing their jobs. I suspect they're only doing it is because it's their job. The only reason I can think on why they are extremely bloodthirsty and love violence is because Heaven is laconic and restrictive from what we've seen in Helluva Boss, so they get stir-crazy while waiting for their annual extermination in hell since it's the only time that it allows them to vent it out. And I mean, you would get stir-crazy too if you have wait that long.

[[WMG:Adam, head of the Exorcists, is ''the'' Adam]]
On New Years Eve 2022, [[https://twitter.com/HazbinHotel/status/1609239739420508162 the head of the Exorcists]] was revealed, and his name is Adam. Since the point of the hotel is to turn damned human souls into redeemed human souls, this implies human souls can become angels, so it's more likely that this is the first man himself rather than an angel who shares his name. Now how he got into Heaven to begin with as one of the two perpetrators of Original Sin is a different question...
** Confirmed!

[[WMG:Adam, head of the Exorcists, represents the hypocrisy of Heaven.]]
Again, assuming that he's ''the'' Adam. The reason why he got into Heaven despite being one of the perpetrators of the Original Sin is because [[LoopholeAbuse he did not know what sin when accepting the fruit]] as he'd need to eat it to actually understand the knowledge of good and evil. The fact he was able to weasel his way out the work to properly redeem himself will serve as a challenge to Charlie's beliefs. Depending on how Heaven is depicted Adam could either be a HateSink who acts HolierThanThou and is a criticism of NeverMyFault and victim-blaming types, or he'll have HiddenDepths and deeply regret his actions but feel chained to his job.

On the flipside Eve could be the TokenGoodTeammate of Hell who while seen of as the guilty party by the reason she already ate the fruit when she gave it to Adam, is ultimately TheScapegoat to Heaven and represents the unfairness of Heaven's policy to sinners.

Alternatively, God only made him an angel to save face over His first human being tempted to sin, but as a stealth punishment, put him in charge of killing his descendants, who are in that position in the first place because of his and Eve's mistake.

[[WMG: Sinners being confined to the Pride ring is foreshadowing.]]
Specifically, foreshadowing that Sinners can be redeemed, with the idea being that they're confined to Pride for being so arrogant as to believe that their own personal sins are above redemption.

[[WMG:Some of the residents of heaven will be LGBTQ+]]
To hammer home Viv's message that being LGBTQ+ is not a sin this universe, there will queer characters in heaven. Either some of the archangels, some of the good souls, or heck maybe even Jesus Christ himself (assuming he appears) will be revealed to be queer.
* Saint Peter is at least AmbiguouslyBi because he says everyone in Heaven is hot while being around residents of multiple genders, so kinda confirmed?
* Of all the residents and staff of Heaven, only Lute and Adam appear to be [[PoliticallyIncorrectVillain homophobic]], and even then, it's [[AmbiguousSituation not made clear]] if they discriminate against Charlie and Vaggie's relationship because it's between two women or because it's between [[InterspeciesRelationship two different species]]. Their bigotry and general {{jerkass}}ery are also shown to be the exception amongst the inhabitants of Heaven, who are far more genuinely kind or at least affable and respectable, so it's likely the rest of Heaven don't care about gender, sexuality, and orientation of a soul at all. In fact, during their judgement of Angel's CharacterDevelopment, not once do the higher up angels bring up his sexual orientation, only Lute does in a throwaway joke.
* Confirmed in the Season 1 finale. Sir Pentious is bisexual yet managed to ascend into Heaven and become a winner, officially proving that sexual orientation doesn't factor into whatever the criteria the mysterious afterlife has in terms of judging whether a soul belongs in Heaven or Hell. So as far as we know, Pentious is the first confirmed LGBT member of Heaven in the show.

[[WMG:Heaven is ruled by seven Archangels underneath God]]
As [[SevenHeavenlyVirtues a mirror]] to the Seven Deadly Sins, plus the idea of seven top-ranking angels is a concept seen in religious writings. Michael, Gabriel, Raphael, and Uriel will definitely be in the lineup, but the other three are pretty variable.

[[WMG:Adam and Lute were the two angels who destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.]]

[[WMG:Exorcists are deputized demons.]]
It's strange that they look like demons with halos and wings slapped on. If Heaven looks down on Hell as much as implied, it makes sense that real angels don't want to go near the place, so the recently damned are offered a place in Heaven in return for keeping less lucky sinners in line. The exorcists' leader Adam is such a smug dick that it wouldn't be surprising if he genuinely believes him and his faction are proper angels and doesn't notice that they are little more than mercs.

[[WMG:{{Ascended Demon}}s are ''supposed'' to be a thing.]]
One of the rules of Christianity is that [[GodIsGood God]] never abandons a soul and He welcomes back any sinners who own up to their wrongdoings and sincerely ask for redemption. While this is true in the show, the system is just as rigged as it is on Earth: The demons' diet of indulgences and despair kills any hope for something better, while the angels have unfairly strict standards about who can come through the gates. This has gone on so long that all but the truly ancient have forgotten the secret to escaping Hell, who will appose Charlie's plan to unknowingly dismantle the system in place.

[[WMG:Adam will mention sexually harassing the Virgin Mary at some point]]
Because it would be completely in character for Adam and it would further show how messed up Heaven is.

[[WMG:God doesn't actually exist]]
During the Story of Hell, at no point is God mentioned, despite it retelling Genesis. The highest authority mentioned is the group of "elders". So maybe God is like [[Literature/NineteenEightyFour Big Brother]] and is just a propaganda symbol that the lower masses think is real and lives in reverence of.

[[WMG:God is female]]
Alternatively, during the Story of Hell, Charlie mentions the angels "worship good", at which point a female being of pure light can be partially seen. Perhaps this is God.

[[WMG:Adam is a better person than he shows himself]]
Considering that for now majority of Creator/AlexBrightman characters in both cartoon series of Hell (Fizzarolli and Sir Pentious) are shown to be more pleasant than they were in their debuts, Adam could be the same since his actions are seemingly for the protection of Heaven rather for his entertainment, as he told Charlie. He refused to tell her the actual reason for moving up the next extermination, because that knowledge could endanger Heaven and instead he told her what he wanted her to know.

[[WMG:Overlords gain magical power from souls contracted to them]]
Husk says he sold his soul to Alastor to retain his power after gambling away the other souls he owned, suggesting that he would have lost his power otherwise. Alastor, of course, had plenty of power already and was more interested in the services he could perform.

[[WMG:The two mysterious beings seen during Charlie's story representing "good" and "evil" are the {{Anthropomorphic Personification}}s of Heaven and Hell respectively.]]

[[WMG: Adam will be a FinalExamBoss...for Charlie's Redemption Project]]
At some point, Adam will screw up ''so'' spectacularly that the other angels will deign to [[ClippedWingAngel clip his wings]], strip him of much of his power, and [[IronicHell cast him into Hell where everyone has lived in terror of his shadow]]. He'll suffer an epic HumiliationConga that will drive him over the DespairEventHorizon, which will only wind down when Charlie takes a chance on him and invites him to her hotel (assuming she's [[CrossingTheBurntBridge that forgiving at first]]). The whole experience will be deeply humbling for Adam, especially if Charlie has succeeded with sinners he once thought of as beneath him.

[[WMG: Adam's collar is hiding his Adam's apple]]
Also known as the ultimate proof that he ''has'' made mistakes.

[[WMG: In this universe, God is just position for leader of the Angels and ruler of the Heaven, rather than their almighty creator, established ''after'' Lucifer was banished]]
To explain why he isn’t mentioned in prologue despite ''Helluva Boss'' hinting that he exists(even in Charlie’s parent aren’t completely honest, there is no reason for them to leave out God, especially as she seems to be aware of him), title of the God only became thing after Hell was created and Lucifer and Lilith were banished. With evil gaining a foot in the universe, Angels felt they needed a singular leader. Whether it is title for eternity or they are going thought the candidates, the God as Christianity knows him is result of propaganda just like real life dictatorships are fond of deifying their leader.

[[WMG: Emily shall intervene during the extermination, but Fall in the process, setting up the conflicts for Season 2]]
Emily is very outspoken against the exterminations once she learns about them, and is very much like-minded with Charlie in regards to the Sinners, to the point of calling Sera out for allowing the exterminations to happen. Sera's only remark though is that it's NecessarilyEvil and that they can't challenge the Status Quo lest they fall like Lucifer. As Adam has outlined in front of everyone though that he's gonna start the extermination in a month and target the Hotel first, this sets it up nicely to have Emily intervene in order to protect Charlie and the Hotel members, possibly even strike Adam down herself in a BigDamnHeroes moment. In doing so though, she'll end up becoming a FallenAngel, cast out of Heaven, and Charlie offering her a place at the Hotel as part of the staff. Maybe she'll be a sister figure to Charlie and/or Vaggie, maybe they'll end up becoming a OneTrueThreesome, who knows?
\
\
This would be the set up for Season 2, with Emily joining the main cast as a new staff member, the Hotel working now to rehabilitate Sinners in general rather than focus on just getting them into Heaven. This would likely end up throwing a wrench in whatever Alastor is scheming too, since he's shown to be warry of Lucifer's power but also keeps the knowledge of Carmilla killing an Exorcist in reserve, so he may become a more direct enemy of Emily's due to her being an Angel, maybe even increase his antagonism towards Vaggie if he learns she's an ex-exorcist too. The V's would in turn have more of a reason to directly oppose the Hotel, accusing them of being a CategoryTraitor for welcoming an Angel while riling up the masses into thinking Emily had a hand in the Exterminations, setting up a more direct conflict and possibly leading into Charlie confronting Valentino for Angel's soul. And with Adam defeated if not outright killed, it would set up Sera to take the position of BigBad from him, possibly give her a personal grudge against Charlie for "corrupting" Emily, and cause more strife in Heaven since the Angel who "made them smile" chose to Fall and rejected Heaven in favor of Hell, maybe even setting up an EnemyCivilWar.

[[WMG: Adam will suffer a LaserGuidedKarma by becoming a FallenAngel]]

If Adam doesn't undergo a HeelFaceTurn or suffer a KarmicDeath, then his punishment is that he'll be [[KickedOutOfHeaven banished from Heaven]], either being BarredFromTheAfterlife or forced to reside in Hell.

[[WMG: Adam and Lute will be [[CoolAndUnusualPunishment forced]] to [[LaserGuidedKarma work]] in the Hazbin hotel]]
* Either Sera after seeing the possibilities of redeeming sinners or Emily will barred them from Heaven unless they help the very people they try to killed

[[WMG: The true deciding factor of whether a soul goes to heaven or hell isn't something as simple as being good or evil.]]
* Despite having centuries to review every soul that comes there way, the angels still have yet to figure out why some humans fail to come to them. And if even someone like Adam can cross the pearly gates, then there is something else keeping angelic and demonic souls separate from one another. One that will likely present a far, far more morally difficult question to Charlie and the Hotel. The original Sin. **Creativity**. Creative souls are hellbound, doesn't matter if it is something positive like art and music or the darkest thoughts such as the... rather creative ways the likes of Alastor comes up with to deal with his targets back in his mortal days. And it's something that can't just simply be taken away, leading to there being no ascended demons through all this. The greatest part of the gift Lucifer gave to humanity becomes the very curse he stuck himself with. Once the Hotel learns the truth it will likely be the DarkestHour for hell, and send Lucifer further into his depression... leading to anarchy across hell with the effective loss of leadership.

[[WMG: There actually ''is'' a God, but he's taken a completely hands off approach.]]
* It would make sense for this to be the case because ''someone'' had to write the rules of Heaven, and the entirety of Heaven has no idea how someone gets in.
* If things get too bad, he'll finally intervene directly and either be [[GodIsGood a loving creator]] or [[GodIsEvil a tyrannical dictator]].

[[WMG: The Elders of Heaven are a ruling council that calls itself God]]
In the Story of Heaven, we see the silhouettes of six imposing angels disapproving of Lucifer's dreams with distinctive halos. In "More Than Anything", those six angels reappear when Lucifer laments how his attempts to reform Sinners failed, with us now seeing they have distinctive features on their chests. Judging by their six wings and the context they appear in, these appear to be the leaders of Heaven.

[[WMG:God is a Lovecraftian horror]]
The reason why nobody knows why somebody gets into Heaven is because the being who wrote it works on BlueAndOrangeMorality.

[[WMG: Way souls get into Heaven or Hell it utterly arbitrary, or at least has ''nothing'' to do with morality]]
Reason why somebody like Adam can get into Heaven and not even Angels has clue what criteria are, is because there isn’t any, at least when it comes to person’s character. It could be as random as a soul simply going to afterlife, it's closer to based on Earth’s altitude when it dies.

[[WMG: Heaven works identical to the [[Franchise/TheMatrix 1st Matrix]].]]
In the Matrix, the machines made the first simulation a paradise for captured humans, but people could never accept such a place as being real. It crashed, killing everyone inside. Heaven in ''Hazbin Hotel'' works the same way, and it's the reason why the Divine Judgement system is broken so badly not even the Angels know why it's so flawed, or what gets a deceased soul into this realm. It's [[TheEvilsOfFreeWill human free will]] combined with the [[ClapYourHandsIfYouBelieve power of the mind]]. A winner could see themselves in HellOfAHeaven, a sinner could see themselves having AHellOfATime. It's all a matter of perspective. If too many people reject Heaven as "unfair" and "unbalanced", ''it will collapse''. You can damn yourself to Hell for merely thinking you deserve it. You can be a wicked [[HolierThanThou self-righteous uptight]] who believes they deserve Heaven and that alone grants you the ultimate KarmaHoudini. The angels fear if too many winners realize they're stuck in a mostly horrid crowd that boasts how great their victories are, while all the good company truly lies with the miserable drunks in Hell who've humbled themselves with their failures, ''Heaven will implode''.

[[WMG: Lute is ArmouredClosetGay]]
It'll be an interesting characterization for Lute.

[[WMG: The Exorcists are made up of [[TradingBarsForStripes Angel prisoners]]]]
It seems unlikely that Heaven would be able to cover up the exterminations for so long if an undefined portion of the population suddenly went missing for a day. If they were made up, mostly or entirely, of prisoners it would be much easier to keep everyone else in the dark. Adam and Lute are shown to just be walking around free in Heaven, but given they are the leaders of the Exorcists they are likely the main exceptions.

[[WMG: The Goetia are descended from fallen Seraphim]]
Sera and Emily briefly appeared in birdlike forms with many eyes before assuming their more humanlike forms. Additionally, many of the angelic court are avian in appearance. The Goetia we've seen are bird demons, and a few of them have extra eyes (like Stolas), they're also near-invulnerable and can only be harmed by angelic weapons. We don't know how many angels have fallen but they could have cross-bred with Hellborn demons, producing hybrids that were less powerful than their angelic forebears but still stronger than most other demons and rose to become a ruling class.

[[WMG: The thing that determines whether someone is damned to Hell or ascends to Heaven is if their soul was touched by "Evil"]]
In Charlie's story of Hell's creation at the beginning of Episode 1, she repeatedly makes mention of the Angels disapproving of Lucifer's behavior because it would risk "evil" being unleashed.
->"''Angels that worshipped good, and shielded all from evil.''"
->"''But with this gift came a curse, for with this single act of disobedience, evil finally found its way into Earth, and with it, a new realm of Darkness and Sin.''"
While it's easy to think this was Charlie being figurative, in that it was TheEvilsOfFreeWill, the fact that Heaven was apparently fighting Evil ''before'' Lucifer introduced free will to humanity suggests that the notion of "evil" is something independent of him, and an actual entity of sorts. It's noted however that the thing that allowed "evil" to come to Earth was the act of defiance, Lucifer and Lilith giving the Apple to Eve. It was not the ''creation'' of evil, but what allowed evil to "infect" Earth. The act of Eve, a mortal, committing a ''sin'', is what allowed "evil" to get in.
\
\
Sin itself though has existed since Hells inception. Taking a look at ''Helluva Boss'', Asmodeus, the Deadly Sin of Lust, says this to his boyfriend Fizzarolli when discussing Mammom, the Deadly Sin of Greed:
->'''Asmodeus:''' Fizz, I've known that guy since the ''start'' of Hell, and [[PunctuatedForEmphasis He. Fucking. Sucks.]] Always has!
The Deadly Sins are beings who have existed since Hells creation and embody their respective sins, with Lucifer himself being the Deadly Sin of Pride, so the idea of "sin" itself existed since Hells creation, even before since Lucifer predates Hell. Sin on its own isn't enough to damn someone to Hell though. Adam after all demonstrates Pride, Envy, Lust, Gluttony, and Wrath, yet he was the ''first'' Human to ascend to Heaven. Note however that it was said ''Eve'' specifically partook of the Apple. Adam however ''isn't'' said to have eaten the Apple here,[[labelnote:*]]In most depictions of the Fall of Man, Eve proceeds to tempt Adam into eating the Apple too, causing both to cast from the Garden of Eden and bringing "sin" into the world.[[/labelnote]] and he's notably in Heaven despite having most of the sins, while Eve is currently MIA. What if the qualifier for someone to go to Heaven or Hell is not that they ''sinned'', but that have "evil" in their soul.
\
\
By eating the fruit, Eve let evil into the world, and was the first "Sinner" after only a single act of defiance, but by not eating the fruit, Adam became a "Winner" despite his own sins. Because "evil" only touched Eve's soul. Sinning is effectively the gateway for humanity to allow "evil" to touch their soul, the very essence Heaven had long been fighting. The more someone created after Eve bit the Apple sins, the more likely they are to let evil into their souls. And thanks to Adam being the "Original Dick" giving them a propensity to sin, and Eve being the one who ate the Apple making them more susceptible to evil getting in again, this meant ''anyone'' could have the power to let evil into their soul if they sinned at the right time.
\
\
Granted, calling it "evil" might be a misnomer. It would be more accurate to call it "chaos". Part of Charlie's story also made mention of Heaven seeking to protect "order", with the reason Lucifer was seen as a troublemaker by the rest of Heaven was because he threatened "order".
->"''They felt his way of thinking was dangerous to the order of their world.''"
->"''The order Heaven had worked to maintain was shattered.''"
In many creation myths related to Abrahamic religion, the time before God was considered to be PrimordialChaos, a sea of chaotic formlessness, hence why the Deadly Sin of Envy is the Leviathan, lurking beneath the the waves of chaos as Envy lurks beneath the hearts of men, some iterations of the myth stating the Leviathan existed ''before'' God's creation. This would fit the idea of Asmodeus knowing Mammon since Hell's creation, since the Deadly Sins would all be embodying concepts older than Hell itself, and before Hell, Heaven, and Earth, there was only ''chaos''.
\
\
The thing preventing souls from going to Heaven is that they are touched by "chaos", their souls are too chaotic for the "order" of Heaven, since it would be antithetical to all Heaven sought to protect. It's why Angels like Adam and Lute are able to be around despite being just as sinful as Sinners, because they still embody "order". As Adam himself put it:
->'''Adam:''' ''The rules are black and white, there's no use in trying to fight it!''
And Lute's treatment of Vaggie stemmed from Vaggie showing mercy to a Sinner child, and going against the order they are meant to uphold.
->'''Adam & Lute:''' ''There's no question to be posed, he's unholy, case closed! Did you forget that Hell is forever?!''
Their souls lack "chaos", they lack the ability to question the status quo. They lack the very thing that made Lucifer, and now Emily, different from other Angels: the ability to ''dream''. Chaos is not inherently evil, but Heaven treats it as such, so all those that have chaos in their souls, those that dare to dream, to oppose the status quo, or have made mistakes but want to be better, are damned to Hell.

[[WMG:Sera is short for [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seraphiel Seraphiel]]]]

[[WMG: The reason Adam ended up in Heaven without Eve is because he [[EtTuBrute threw her under the bus]] when she shared the Forbidden Fruit with him.]]
He willingly ate the Forbidden Fruit with her, as it was written, but in this version, when the Angels descended on them and demanded an explanation, Adam ''immediately'' [[DirtyCoward pinned all the blame on Eve, lying that she "made him do it" to save his own skin]].

[[WMG:The reason Adam is in Heaven is because he ''didn’t'' eat the Forbidden Fruit]]
* The Forbidden Fruit of the Original Sin was from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. If in this universe this is taken literally, eating the fruit would grant one the capacity to tell right from wrong, the capacity to ''sin''. If Adam never ate from the fruit, then all of his actions henceforth, no matter how callous or monstrous would be committed without him being dammed for them, because at his core, he cannot tell right from wrong. That’s how someone who does the things he does can end up in Heaven.

[[WMG: Heaven supports the genocide against sinners because...]]
...they're afraid of what will happen when a large amount of their population ALSO ends up in hell.
Standards shift over time, and what may have been considered moral in the past may no longer be moral in the future. Heaven and its people want to keep the status quo for as long as possible so they can continue to stay in heaven, and also because they don't want sinners to enter heaven and risk changing the status quo even further. The genocide helps maintain this status quo.

[[WMG: Adam is a demon]]
He went to Hell when he died, but Sera, unwilling accept that the First Man could be a failure, carried him to Heaven against all her principles and pretended like he'd gotten there all along. Adam himself has completely blocked off the memory of the event due his narcissism or considers it just a bad dream. Furthermore, the Exterminations don't actually have anything to do with Hell's uprising, their sole purpose is to give an outlet to Adam's cruel, violent impulses so that his true nature wouldn't come apparent in Heaven itself. The other Exorcists did make it to Heaven fairly, but only barely, and don't really fit in. They were given the job for the same reason, that they don't end up resenting the rest of Heaven and lashing out in what is supposed to be the perfectly virtuous afterlife. But the job only fuels their bloodlust and cruelty and has also made them even more borderline cases, something between an angel and a demon, not a pure example of either.
* Would make for an interesting [[TomatoInTheMirror Tomato In The Mirror]] Effect with his hatred of demonsm.

[[WMG: Gnosticism is canon in the Hellaverse]]
For those who don't know, Gnosticism was a sect of early christianity that believed that creation was ruled and made by a lesser deity known as the demiurge, but that Jesus Christ was in fact the Emissary of the supreme divine being who is more powerful than the demiurge. The Elders of Heaven mentioned in the first episode could collectively be representative of the demiurge, which also fits with and explains the flawed nature of heaven in the show, seeing it being actually the creation of the demiurge rather than God himself.
[[WMG: Angelic steel is not actually suppose to be effective against angels]]
Perhaps the reason why none of the exorcists seemed to be aware their own weapons could harm them is because they aren’t suppose to. Namely they could be built on the principle of HolyBurnsEvil and only intended to be usable against sinners. However the exterminations themselves are sinful and evil enough that all the exorcists have become wicked enough to fall victim to it. This could also be why Adam and Lute seemed caught off guard by exorcists being killed by angelic weapons despite Lute previously mutilating Vaggie; they’re both self-righteous enough to assume Vaggie was wounded because she committed the “crime” of sparing a sinner, not due to the slaughter of thousands. It is worth nothing that the only source we have on the effectiveness of angelic steel is from Carmilla, not whoever created these weapons in the first place.

[[WMG:How Molly got into Heaven despite being part of a mafia family]]
Angel, or Anthony as he was known then, did everything to protect his sister's innocence by shielding her from their family's dirty deeds.

[[WMG: The other six Sins were Lucifer's friend group in Heaven]]
They actually fell alongside him and Lilith, but they were omitted from the storybook because their presence was irrelevant.

[[WMG: Redemption of Sinners originally wasn’t possible. But, whoever or whatever is in charge of determining where dead souls go was swayed by Charlie and Emily’s arguments in “Welcome to Heaven”, leading to Sir Pentius's ascension]]
Sera mention of “Divine Judgement” implies that ''somebody'' is in charge of determining where souls go. Season ends with Sir Pentius becoming first ascended demon and being transported right in front of Sera and Emily. While it could be that HeroicSacrifice or just selfless death was always what was necessary to get into Heaven, what we see of Hell implies that there actually are souls who are ready to give life for loved one, making Pentious being first to ever get into Heaven weird.

But, what if whoever is in charge of judging souls has seen Charlie and Emily’s decrying of rules as unjust and actually agreed. Whether being Judge is secret position and they were part of Angel court, or they just watched from distance, they agreed that banishing souls to Hell and at least not giving them chance to get into Heaven if they change is unfair, especially when somebody like Adam can get to Heaven. They still have [[BlueAndOrangeMorality weird and confusing standards]], which could lead to problems with Sinners who really don’t have much to redeem for or what exactly constitutes for redemption, but redemption itself now is ''possible''.
** Alternatively, the fact that Sir Pentious is the first ever soul to be redeemed from Hell is because no one else actually ''believed'' it was possible until Charlie came up with her plan for the hotel, and the belief that oneself can be redeemed (in addition to repentance and personal growth) is required in order for it to happen.

[[WMG: Sinners who sold their souls cannot go to Heaven until they regain ownership of it.]]
Given the focus placed on people selling their souls, with Angel Dust, Husk, ''and'' Alastor all having their souls be owned by someone else, it makes sense, and would be an excellent way to add some tension or conflict to later seasons, as it would mean that in order to let Angel Dust - the Hotel's first customer - actually be redeemed, Charlie and the gang would need to reclaim his soul from Valentino, and would also potentially cause problems given Husk's soul belongs to Alastor, who, in turn, belongs to someone else.

[[WMG: [[TheGrimReaper Death itself]] is the one deciding who goes to Heaven and Hell]]
Sera specifically says that the even the Seraphim don’t know why a soul goes to Heaven, only ''when'' it comes to them. But if there is one being in all of Creation who would ''have'' to know how the decision is made, either because they are the one making it or because they have a direct line to the one who does, it would be the one fulfilling the role of TheGrimReaper, otherwise they wouldn’t know where to take the human souls upon their demise. This would also account for why Sir Pentious is the only one of the guests who was been taken to Heaven so far: the only way Death can make a Judgement is when a soul has died and is therefore under the “jurisdiction” of Death.

[[WMG: The birdlike angels in Heaven's courthouse are the angels of the [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shem_HaMephorash Shem HaMephorash]]]]
According to mystic lore, these are the holy counterparts to the demons of the Ars Goetia, who, as we've seen, take the form of birds.

[[WMG: Sera will fall like Lucifer]]
She warned Emily about her potentially falling like Lucifer, but with the reveal of Sinners' being redeemable, SHE is the one who went against the Divine Judgement (due to not knowing the full picture) and will not be able to reconcile her actions with the truth without also becoming a fallen Seraphim. This may remove Charlie's safety net if Sera tries to also take the Throne of Hell (presumably for her own safety if it gets out she's the sponsor of the exterminations).

[[WMG:Adam was sent to Heaven as a punishment]]
Assuming he did actually eat the fruit, Heaven would have judged both him and Eve to be guilty. As to why Adam ended up in Heaven while Eve (most likely) went to Hell, part of it stems from who influenced them to eat it: Eve listened to Lucifer and Lilith, so she was banished to Hell along with them. Adam, meanwhile, ate the fruit on Eve's advice. Chauvinistic asshole he might be, he did listen to his wife in that moment. Thus, as punishment, he was separated from her. Furthermore, Adam's personality wouldn't be out of place in Hell at all. He might have even been able to thrive and form a faction of his own. Thus, he was sent to Heaven, where he has a lot of influence, but doesn't seem to be particularly well-liked outside of the Exorcists.

[[WMG: God exists and He is [[GodIsGood good]], but is also [[GodIsFlawed flawed]] and [[GreaterScopeParagon is trying to help Charlie from behind the scenes]].]]
And the reason why Sir Pentious ended up as an AscendedDemon. Hellaverse God is more [[HaveYouSeenMyGod deist]] in that He delegated the creation of Earth and humans to the angels, overviewing and supervising as a power that be. Instead of being against His vision, God ''wanted'' Lucifer to give Adam and Eve the apple from the Tree of Knowledge so free will could be a thing. Unfortunately Hellaverse God is not perfect, and His design was flawed, causing things like Hell to exist as a result of free will instead of being caused by Lucifer's fall, the self-righteousness of His angelic creations and the questionable set of requirements meant to go to Heaven or Hell. This version of God is similar to [[WesternAnimation/{{Futurama}} the Galactic Entity]] in that He believes in "a light touch", and is subtlety manipulating things for Heaven to reform their standards, in a small enough way they still exist as a motivation for Hell to clean up its act. Sir Pentious being in Heaven was the first push as part of His subtle reform. Presumably the only people who even know God exists in the first place for certain are the enigmatic Elders of Heaven or possibly [[AlwaysABiggerFish an authority above them]], and maybe Lucifer, who just assume he's acting InMysteriousWays.

[[WMG: One of the Elders of Heaven is {{Metatron}}.]]
They are a force hinted at to be higher on the pecking order than Sera, and with Sir Pentious's ascension whoever's above her would definitely want a word with her. Metatron is traditionally seen as [[MouthOfSauron "the voice of God"]], acting as His scribe, who would often show up in His place as a sort of ambassador. As such, if they adapt an angel asides from Lucifer as one of the Elders of Heaven, Metatron definitely sounds like a good fit. He presumably won't have [[WasOnceAMan the same backstory]] as he did originally (that being Enoch, a pre-Flood descendant of Adam) and instead being a natural angel, with the "human turned angel that now things HumansAreBastards" [[DecompositeCharacter having gone to Adam]]. Though who knows; maybe as part of a big twist [[GenderFlip Metatron will be none other than Eve]].
* Or Metatron will be Michael, as even though he's commonly believed to be Enoch, some texts equate him to Michael in some way. Michael and Gabriel could even claim to be the ones speaking God's will (Michael to the angels and Gabriel to the humans). Whether or not they're actually speaking for God or they're just lying for their own agendas is variable.

[[WMG: God exists, but He's MIA.]]
Maybe once He was done creating Earth, He moved on to other parts of the universe to create more worlds. Or maybe He's just on vacation, because He needed a break from maintaining the cosmic order. Whatever the reason, God is missing, He's been missing for a ''while,'' and the Elder Angels have been running Heaven in His stead. Near the end of the series, He'll likely reappear in Heaven to "check in" on Earth, and be shocked and horrified by how badly the Elder Angels bungled things up.

[[WMG:Sera will try to keep Sir Pentious' arrival in Heaven covered up.]]
One of the plots of Season 2 will have Emily trying to get in contact with Charlie about Sir Pentious becoming a redeemed Sinner while also informing the rest of heaven, only for Sera to desperately try and stop her to avoid punishment for allowing the exterminations to needlessly happen. There may be several ways this could go, such as Sera claiming that Pentious is just a new arrival straight from Earth and that there's no proof he came from Hell, putting a gag order on Emily, destroying any and all forms of communication with Hell, or try to get rid of Pentious somehow so he can't tell his side of the story. Given what we've seen of Sera so far and the lengths she’s willing to go for what she deems the greater good, actions such as these aren't completely implausible.

[[WMG: Earth isn’t the only world where Angels created life]]

Show is willing to take liberties with Christian theology, so that wouldn’t be out of question. Of course this begs question why only Earth souls seem to have to face afterlife judgement and go to Heaven and Hell. Possible answer:

In the Bible humanity was immortal until Adam and Eve didn’t eat the fruit. It could be same case here and with Lucifer as an example, other creations of Angels across the universe are immortal at expense of having no or at least limited free will.

As for why Lucifer chose humanity rather than some other world or nobody has mentioned them, Earth was the first world where Angels created life (common solution for UsefulNotes/FermiParadox in real world, just withous Angels in equation).

[[WMG: Jesus was just a charismatic guy who got propped up as the angels' figurehead]]
Since it's unclear if God the Father even exists, then that means God the Son by extension may not exist. Jesus was just a man who was given the task of spreading the angels' propaganda on Earth.

[[WMG: GodIsDead]]

Reason God isn’t mentioned and Angels seem to be in charge creating the universe is because he died when he started creation. In original jewish folklore there were beings who inhabited primordial sea before creation, Leviathan and Rahan. While Leviathan is ruler of Envy Ring and unlikely to have that backstory, Rahab is unmentioned. Maybe when God first created universe he had to fight Rahab and other primordial evils, resulting in HeroicSacrifice so that creation could survive, leaving Angels to continue creating the universe.

It’s possible that Elders of Heaven are keeping God’s death secret to legitimize their rule or keep order among the Angels, depending on how one interprets them, with only high ranking brass of Heaven knowing the truth. However, without God in charge, Creation become unpredictable since Angels control over it is limited, explaining weird afterlife standards.

[[WMG: Pride is the only sin.]]
Only the Pride Ring has Sinners. One would think if the seven deadly sins had equal metaphysical weight the others would have Sinners as well.

Every character that is a demon likely died immersed in a moment of pride, given how self serving their natures tend to be (helped along with the cutthroat nature of hell).

[[WMG: Heaven's geography and leadership involves the seven heavenly virtues.]]
Not as requirements, but its layout is this if it is a mirror of hell in design.

Virtue - Latin vs Sin-Latin

Chastity-Castitas vs Lust- Luxuria

Temperance-Temperantia vs Gluttony-Gula

Charity-Caritas vs Avarice-Avaritia

Diligence-Industria vs Sloth -Acedia

Kindness-Humanitas vs Envy-Invidia

Patience-Patientia vs Wrath-Ira

Humility-Humilitas vs Pride-Superbia

In theory this means the 'Elder Angels' encompass those virtues similar to how each Sin in hell has an embodiment demon.

[[WMG: The von Eldritch family is connected to the greater cosmic forces in the Hellaverse]]
Charlie's narration says the angels defended the universe from "evil", which, as a previous WMG proposed, is actually ''chaos''. Additionally, Stolas promised to take Octavia to see a meteor shower called "Azathoth's Tears". Now, it could simply be a throwaway concept, but what if the Great Old Ones/Outer Gods/Elder Gods really ''do'' exist, and have some reverence in Hell's mythology? Perhaps these are part of the evil/chaos the angels seem to want to protect the universe from.

Now what about the von Eldritches? We know Sinners' demon forms reflect their crimes in life, so it's possible they were an upper-class family that just so happened to also be part of a cult worshiping an EldritchAbomination, a formless horror that is real and waiting to enter the universe through the cracks caused by free will being introduced to mankind. For their services, the von Eldritches were gifted some of its power upon their obvious descent into Hell, allowing them to amass so much power they became acquainted with the Morningstar family.

[[WMG: All sinners and winners are sent to the after life in their peak age.]]
There seem to be no elderly sinners in hell, (Susan and the other cannibals probably are hellborn like Rosie.) and from what we see of heaven, there are no old winners either. Additionally, Saint Peter seems to be quite young, despite dying at a much older age. This might be because anyone sent to the afterlife, either heaven or hell, is reincarnated as their best healthy age when they were alive. (Of course, after getting sent to hell, sinners can very quickly become unhealthy again.)

[[WMG: Sir Pentious isn't the first sinner to ascend to heaven. It's just that heaven's populace are unaware of the redeemed sinners among them.]]
Sinners who ascend to heaven from hell don't appear at the pearly gates, and so they don't get registered by Saint Peter. Former sinners also aren't likely to speak out about their stint in hell as they are likely to view it as a DarkSecret and are possibly afraid of being sent down again. And that's the few who participate in the Heaven public, as many of them are in hiding either alone or being hidden by their families. Of course, now that the exterminations are public knowledge (+when Pentious's redemption is revealed), a lot of other reformed sinners might be emboldened to reveal the truth, which may give pointers of how to save more souls from hell.

[[WMG:The Seven Deadly Sins don't actually embody vices.]]
It's just a title, seeing as how, as of the revelation from "Welcome to Heaven", the whole judgement based on sin is bull.

[[WMG: The first Hellborn and other Sins [[SpontaneousGeneration were born from]] {{Hell}} itself.]]
Unlike most depictions of Lucifer's fall, there's no indication that any other angel fell with him. Being a FallenAngel is usually the explanation of where demons come from, so where else? Perhaps instead of being fallen being, when Hell came into existence it already came with its own native fauna and flora, with all other hellborn being their descendants. Instead of being former angels, the other six Sins were beings born alongside Hell. This would be a spin on the idea that pride is the sin that all others come from; Lucifer causing the Original Sin literally created the other Sins as it did their domain.

[[WMG: Hell isn’t meant to be a place of punishment and Adam’s assessment that it was meant to “suck a lot” was incorrect]]

There are two ways that it could, depending on how much morality actually plays a part in getting into Heaven or Hell:

6331. Hell was actually meant to be [[PurgatoryAndLimbo Purgatory]] and place of redemption of souls judged not worthy of Heaven when they die. This would ironically make the opening of the Hazbin Hotel Hell finally doing its true purpose.

6352. Hell was meant to be MundaneAfterlife for souls not worthy of Heaven. In reality there is nothing that inheretly makes Hell any worse place that Heaven and even in series itself and ''Helluva Boss'' we see nicer sides to its inhabitants. Maybe Sinners were even actually put there by whatever higher power there is because alternative is CessationOfExistence.

In both ways reason Hell ended up being [[CrapsackWorld what]] [[WorldOfJerkass it is]] and believed to be place of punishment is because by our standard evil people ended becoming most dominant causing most of innocent “Sinners” to become cruel to not be trampled and that spread into Hellborn, which coupled with how realms generally look and fact that Heaven seems to get more good people (thought people like Adam can still get here), causing everyone to incorrectly assume that Hell was meant to suck.

[[WMG: The members of the Exorcist army are all Adam's daughters, conceived after he became an angel.]]
Not metaphorically speaking like being his "daughters" from way down the line through mankind's history and existence but his ''direct'' descendants, on the same level as Cain and Abel back when Adam was actually alive. Considering Adam's attitude and personality, him pulling a "Zeus" on living women back on Earth is not unthinkable and due to only being an ascended angel rather than a naturally made one, his daughters does not inherit the telltale-signs of nephilims, allowing them to pass of as human at a glance and earning them a spot in Heaven once they die due to their divine heritage. They might not know it and Adam may or may not but doesn't take any responsibility for raising them and is happy with having them around as a safe trustworthy crew to work with. This theory would also make Lute and Vaggie half-sisters and in a display of irony, repeat the sibling dynamics between Cain and Abel.

[[WMG: Animals don’t enter Heaven or Hell based on morality, but on instinctive preference.]]
Charlie mentions she’s eager to see a Koala in Heaven’s zoo, but we also see roaches and Fat Nuggets the pig living in Hell, so animals don’t seem to automatically enter Heaven. Presumably, species that prefer it dark, warm, and enclosed end up in Hell, (rats, roaches, etc.) while those who prefer it open and bright go to Heaven (Koalas, elephants, and such). It helps that this interpretation of Hell isn’t actually THAT bad, outside of the whole "Hell is other people" aspect. Since most arthropods prefer dark, warm, enclosed spaces, Hell has a bit of a bug problem. Interestingly, this also means that snakes are likely to end up in either realm, depending on the species.

[[WMG:Alternatively, earthly animals all go to Heaven by default and all the animals we see in Hell are simply part of their native fauna]]
Sin is a human concept. As such, whatever nebulous force determines which afterlife you go to sends mortal animals to Heaven by default, since they don't know any better. Hell animals like Fat Nuggets, Keekee, Vox's sharks and the bugs Niffty likes killing are simply part of Hell's ecosystem, as established by ''Helluva Boss''.

[[WMG:Everyone who gets into Heaven automatically becomes more attractive, no matter what they looked like when they were alive.]]
Because everyone is hooooooooooot! Also explains why St. Peter looks a lot younger than when he died as an older man.

[[WMG:Winners use their real names in Heaven]]

[[WMG:Sera will "banish" Emily to Hell, but it won't be for the reason everyone thinks.]]
It will be to protect her from the wrath of an even higher heavenly authority, maybe after Emily has started to rebel and try to change the system of Heaven. She will make it look like a banishing to avoid drawing suspicion, but drop Emily on the doorstep of the Hazbin Hotel to keep her safe while Sera personally deals with the higher ups.

[[WMG:Gabriel will be the heavenly counterpart to Vox and/or Alastor.]]
ArchangelGabriel is the ''messenger'' angel, which is easily modernized as a newscaster.

[[WMG:God ''used'' to exist.]]
The archangels, Lucifer and his siblings, were born when God split Themselves into pieces and their titles (Michael and Gabriel as the right and left hands of God, Metatron as the voice of God, etc.) are very literal. God can only return if the archangels reunite and fuse back together.

[[WMG:Michael and Gabriel are the two highest angels]]
Not only are they the two angels mostly everybody knows about, in some Jewish lore, Michael sits at God's right hand and Gabriel God's left hand.

[[WMG:Sir Pentious' status as an AscendedDemon could provide him unique abilities]]
WordOfGod said that sinners can't actually die unless it's by the hands of angelic weaponry, and that normal injuries are often taken care of thanks to a healing factor, so if Sir Pentious still has that trait after his ascension, then if he gets stabbed by an exorcists spear, it won't kill him and he'll be able to heal himself, Giving him a form of CompleteImmortality.

[[WMG:[[TheDogWasTheMastermind Keekee]] [[GodWasMyCopilot is God]]]]
For a seemingly simple (if one-eyed) cat, she's very central to the symbolism of the show, representing the hotel itself as well as being present in the logo. She had a gradual and distinctive change in attitude towards Sir Pentious over the course of the first season from scurrying away from him to [[LickedByTheDog sleeping on his lap]], which aligns with the fact that Pentious would later be vidicated by Divine Judgement itself. And as the 'finale' song proves, she has the [[PowerOfCreation power within her]] to help do the majority of the work rebuilding the hotel over the course of a few hours with only seemingly a suggestion from Lucifer. Other than Sir Pentious, she naturally gravitates to the AllLovingHero Charlie, (wrongfully-) FallenAngel Vaggie, and Lucifer (once considered to be God's favorite angel, possibly still is on some level).

If God in the Hellaverse is fundamentally [[GodIsGood well-intentioned and supportive]] of Charlie, but prefers a 'light touch', Keekee would make the perfect guise. She has a front row seat to the action, close to the people she's likely to favor, while simultanously completely BeneathNotice.

Besides, it feels thematically appropriate for God to have been hiding out as a 'lowly being' in Hell the whole time.

[[WMG:Vaggie was not the first exorcist angel who got KickedOutOfHeaven for showing mercy to a demon.]]
There were others, but not all of them were lucky enough to have their newly ripped-off wings patched up by a kindly demon princess. Maybe they died, or figured out how to survive in their own ways.

[[WMG:The reason for Heaven's HolierThanThou attitude is because there are only 6 of the SevenHeavenlyVirtues]]
When looking back on Charlie's narration of Hell's origin, and Lucifer imagining Heaven and its authority, its worth noting that there were only 6 elders shown in both scenarios. If we go by the theory that the elders are meant to represent each of the 7 virtues than why are only six shown? Perhaps the reason why Heaven promotes Adam as a high ranking angel, refuses to look into the inner workings of divine judgment, and has a LackOfEmpathy toward Lucifer and the demons of hell is because there has never been a representative or figure meant to preach the virtue meant to tie them all together and most important one of all: Humility; being willing to admit that we aren't perfect, acknowledge when we messed up, and atone for our mistakes. Its implied by Lucifer and shown by Sera that most angels in high authority ironically have a level of arrogance, but refuse to be humble and think that they might be wrong, regardless of how it affects others because of their own [[StealthPun pride]], which is something that Lucifer might've inherited as a seraphim and got him sent to Hell because his own decisions differed from the elder's plans, and denies sinners redemption or rebuffs anyone who question them, since they think that as the creators of earth, [[BlackAndWhiteInsanity whatever they decide is right and anyone who disagrees with them is wrong]].
