On Kirisawa's route, after she's called in on her day off for an operation, the guys observe that she's not eating as much as usual and speculate that she must have been out on a date. Discussing her memory loss, the guys wonder over how specifically targeted it is, to which NYC cop Kate Howard points out that most cases of amnesia seem unusually specific - you never hear about someone with amnesia so complete that they forget basic facts like, for example, what a bathroom is.
42	* FairCop: Unsurprisingly, given that it's a romance game, everyone in the 2nd Unit is smoking hot.
43	* FairPlayWhodunnit: Hanai's main route provides the audience with all of the relevant facts necessary to solve the mystery... which, taken in combination with the LawOfConservationOfDetail, means the reader will probably have it figured out well before any of the detectives do.

45	** During Hanai's route, he and the protagonist catch a lurker who's been taking pictures of couples making out in a local park. They accomplish this by sitting on a park bench and pretending to be a couple, complete with a real kiss to lure him into taking photos before they pounce and nab him with the evidence right there on his camera.
46	** On Kirisawa's route, Kirisawa and the protagonist perform a textbook fake make-out to avoid being noticed by [[spoiler:Sakai]] during their stakeout of one of the drug ring's possible areas of activity.

He's charismatic, dependable, and looks after his guys almost as much off the job as he does on. For just one example: since most of the members of the unit are bachelors who tend to live on fast food, Kirisawa makes a regular practice of having the whole team over to his place for a home-cooked meal.
50	* TheFettered: The protagonist, at least on Nomura's route. She acknowledges that the system is broken, and that things are never quite as clear-cut as "good and evil". [[spoiler:She also admits that the corrupt cops who have been murdering criminals by proxy have probably made Tokyo a safer place. But when offered the chance to go vigilante herself, she refuses on the grounds that doing so would be betraying the public trust: Officers of the law have to be held to a higher moral standard than the people they protect.]]

55	* TheGlassesGottaGo: When the protagonist accidentally bumps into Kimura while he's not wearing his coke-bottle NerdGlasses, he looks so different - and so attractive - that she almost doesn't recognize him, and thinks to herself that it's a waste for him to wear them all the time. On 2nd Unit's part, the friction comes mostly from 1st Unit's tendency to show up and shut them out of an investigation only to badly mishandle it by latching onto the first convenient solution that comes to mind and ignoring any evidence or avenues of investigation that don't fit their assumptions.
67	* JustBetweenYouAndMe: The main villain of Tennoji's route can't resist the temptation to explain his plan to the protagonist while he has her tied up and at his mercy, waving away his mooks' concerns with the argument that it doesn't matter since they're just going to kill her anyway. Needless to say, it doesn't work out the way he'd planned. Later, when the protagonist relates what she heard to the task force assembled for the case, one of the members of 1st Unit questions how reliable the information is and why the villain would admit it all in front of her; the protagonist speculates, and [[TheProfiler Hanai]] agrees, that he was simply too arrogant to resist the chance to gloat.
68	* KillerCop: The case in [[spoiler:Nomura's main route]] involves a group of vigilantes within the police force who have been murdering repeat offenders.
69	* KinkyCuffs: After being handcuffed by a perp in his epilogue, Kyobashi complains that the handcuffs have scraped his wrist and that a "professional" could handcuff someone without doing them injury. He demonstrates at the end of the epilogue when he brings out the cuffs to prove to the protagonist that she can trust him.
70	* LadykillerInLove: Kyobashi is an inveterate skirt-chaser with a girlfriend for every day of the week (except Wednesday, who recently broke up with him). Falling for the protagonist during his route throws a wrench into his usual approach.

This causes a lot of people to underestimate him, not realizing that in fact he's Metro PD's biggest workaholic.
86	* ObliviousToLove: Kirisawa is notoriously clueless regarding matters of romance, and Nomura and the rest of 2nd Unit enjoy teasing him about it. His reputation is so firmly entrenched that, despite the protagonist making a LoveConfession right in front of all of them during Kirisawa's main route, the guys assume that her feelings are one-sided and cheerfully crack wise about her "hopeless crush" for the next two routes until their relationship finally comes out into the open in Kirisawa's "Armed & Engaged" sequel.
87	* OpaqueNerdGlasses: Worn by crime scene investigator Kimura. [[spoiler:His eyesight is fine; the glasses are to keep people from being able to easily read his expression, and also help keep him from being recognized as Ryohei Nikaido.]]

Tennoji, deciding that Kimura and the protagonist are taking far too long to make any progress, takes it upon himself to help out - by declaring to Kimura that ''he'' is interested in the protagonist and plans to ask her out if Kimura doesn't.

Tennoji in particular plays the role of RabidCop with great relish, and he and Kirisawa are widely regarded as the scariest interrogators to face, while Kyobashi is occasionally called on to sweet-talk female suspects and witnesses.
90	** In Kimura's route, the protagonist gets fed up with watching 1st Unit's mishandling of the interrogation and manages to convince them to let her step in, enabling her to play the reasonable, sympathetic {{Good Cop\|BadCop}} and get the suspect to open up to her.

She snaps out of it immediately, however.
