5Like ''Bloodbath'', ''Massacre'' mashes [[Platform/{{PlayStation}} PS1]]-era SurvivalHorror games with the SlasherMovie genre. You control a girl who crashes her car in the wilderness, so she hikes to find any nearby help and comes across an abandoned factory. She explores it, and unfortunately for you, it turns out to be the lair of a power drill-wielding serial killer. Have fun!

11* ActionSurvivor: You're a perfectly average girl getting hunted by a serial killer in an abandoned factory.

13* AloneWithThePsycho: It's just you and an insane murderer trapped in an empty factory.
14* AmbiguousEnding: The "hallway" ending ends with the main character running into white light, only for the game to cut away to a panning shot of the mountains as a news reports explains that the main character was never found. Just after this, [[HellIsThatNoise absolutely horrific screaming is heard]]. Whether it's the main character being tortured to death or the killer venting his frustrations is unknown.
15* AxCrazy: The killer, and he's not modest about it, judging from his inhuman wails when he finds you.
16* CheckPointStarvation: There is a single checkpoint in the game - the second you step foot in the factory. After that, good luck.
17* CreepyChild: You can catch glimpses of a little ghost girl in the factory, and one of the endings includes chasing her down an endless hallway.
18* DeliberateVHSQuality: The game has a (completely optional) "VHS Mode" that places a constant static filter over the game's visuals. The menus also use a font [[https://www.dafont.com/vcr-osd-mono.font similar to this one]], which should look familiar to people who have ever seen VHS footage before.

Though his plain-looking white mask does more to evoke [[Franchise/{{Halloween}} Michael Myers]].
22* FinalBossPreview: More [[FreezeFrameBonus discreet]] than most examples, but when you reach the factory, you can see the killer standing on the third floor balcony with his back turned to you [[NothingIsScarier just standing there]]. [[OffscreenTeleportation He vanishes]] by the time you get to that level, however.
23* {{Gorn}}: Getting attacked/killed is sure to involve tons of blood, and when you find the killer's room, it's absolutely soaked in intestines, blood, and rotting flesh, also littered with decayed skeletons.
24* HellIsThatNoise: The game is filled with horrifying sounds and ambiance, but the most prominent is the pig-like squealing the killer makes when he's chasing you.
25* TheHeroDies: The PlayerCharacter is captured and brutally killed no matter what, despite the whole MultipleEndings thing.
26* LightningBruiser: The killer is ''fast'' when he chases you, to the point where simply staying ahead of him, let alone escaping him in the dark, twisting and turning factory, is almost a LuckBasedMission.
27* MultipleEndings: Depending on your choices, you can either have a trippy climax down an endless corridor, or get captured and murdered by the killer. Even then, as detailed in the previous examples, none of it really matters as they are both bad endings.
28* PsychopathicManchild: In one of the endings, you investigate the killer's personal room, and it's very obvious he has the mind of a disturbed child, as the player character points out. The bodies of his victims are strewn about alongside toys.
29* {{Retraux}}: Its tank controls, camera angles, graphics and exploration mechanics are all inspired by the [=PS1=]-era of SurvivalHorror, and its feel is meant to elicit that of classic VHS horror movies.
30* RoamingEnemy: Objectively the scariest part of the game and what makes it so unique is that the killer is spawned at all times and is endlessly patrolling the factory, meaning he can be around the corner at ''[[NothingIsScarier literally any second]]''.
31* SchmuckBait: Go down into the Sugar Tunnels. You'll get a surprise...[[note]]If you encounter a dead end with the word SURPRISE! written on it, YouAreAlreadyDead.[[/note]]
32* SensoryAbuse: The sound effects that accompany the killer tend to be ''very'' overwhelming, not helped by the lack of music in most other areas. The strobing border effect is also unpleasant.
33* SerialKiller: The hiking area has had 12 missing people before you arrive, and these were likely previous victims of the killer.
34* TheUnintelligible: When the killer finally speaks in one of the endings, it's just senseless babbling.
