''Job Simulator'', alternatively titled ''Job Simulator: The 2050 Archives'', is a first-person VR game. The game is available for [[Platform/PlayStation4 Playstation VR]], Platform/HTCVive, Platform/OculusRift, and [=SteamVR=].

In the future, robots have taken over most of the jobs. A museum has an exhibit where people can enter simulations and find out what jobs were like back when humans were in the workforce.

''Job Simulator'' is a tongue-in-cheek game where you have a choice between four jobs: auto mechanic, office worker, convenience store clerk, and gourmet chef. There are both day-shift and night-shift options.

A sequel called ''VideoGame/VacationSimulator'' was released in April 2019.

----
!!''Job Simulator'' contains [TROPE]

* BananaInTheTailpipe: In [AUTOMOTIVE MECHANIC], one of the things you can do to mess with cars is stick bananas in the tailpipes.
* BrandX: The game features a lot of this. "Gigabite" electromint-flavored gum instead of Extra mint-flavored gum, "Thyme" magazine instead of ''Time'', "Triangle" chips instead of Doritos chips, "[=PowerDot=]" instead of [=PowerPoint=], and several others.
* DevelopersForesight: The copy machine in the office. In addition to paper, it also copies other objects. If you stick your head in it, your "brain" will virtually print out. Copying money results in it being labeled as counterfeit. Copying [=CDs=] will indicate that [[DigitalPiracyIsEvil the software is pirated.]]
** In the [AUTOMOTIVE MECHANIC] job, if you turn the steering wheel on any of the cars, the front wheels also move. If you open the glovebox in any of the cars, you'll find [[VisualPun a single white glove inside.]]
* EasterEgg: The clock in the office has a note saying "[[{{Pun}} Can't believe you'd TAKE the TIME to read this!]]" on the back.
* EndlessGame: Infinite Overtime, where you and [=TempBot=] run the nightshift of any of the four jobs, completing randomly generated tasks of various types. The only way to be done is to eat the exit burrito.
* EyeTake: The "pupils" on the bots shrink down to give this effect every time they [[[MadLibsDialogue MADLIB]]].
* FurryReminder: "Baby" robots are computer chips.
* FutureImperfect: The simulations are... less than accurate to the actual time periods than the simulations suggest. One example is that the characters believe that "burning" a CD literally involves putting it on a flame, or that microwaves are actually nuclear and mutate ingredients into the resultant food such as pizza and cake.
* TheInternetIsForCats: Your office co-worker sends you internet macros, one of them being cat-themed.
* JobStealingRobot: Robots have taken over the jobs, so people are left to experience them vicariously.
* KarmaHoudini: Bandito can get away with his crimes, a couple of which are preventable. In the convenience store simulation, you can turn him over when a police officer with three suspects comes into the store. However, you can instead choose one of the other two and let the real thief get away. In the auto mechanic one, though, Bandito gets away with having you redesign his car and give him a new license plate, and he and Sleazebot almost get away with selling another robot’s car.
* LawyerFriendlyCameo: The soup can is coloured like Campbell's.
* MadLibsDialogue:
** PlayedForLaughs. Bot dialogue is normally smooth until they reach a [VARIABLE] within their dialogue which is in a higher or lower pitched MachineMonotone. They're also sometimes grammatically incorrect, such as with "I'm trying to cut down on [GLUTEN], but that looks very [SANDWICH]".
** This extends into the teaser page of ''Vacation Simulator'' where the mad libs are [CAPITAL] and [GRAMMAR ERROR].
** This is brilliantly used to mask the nature of Infinite Overtime's random tasks with bots asking a random combination of items that are [MADLIB].
* MeaningfulName: The bandit robot is named “Bandito”.
* NoCelebritiesWereHarmed: While working in the restaurant sim, you end up filming a RealityShow with an expy of Creator/GordonRamsay. Fortunately, his on-camera demeanor hides that he’s [[MeanCharacterNiceActor actually quite friendly.]]
* ShoutOut:
** The cartridges resemble [[Platform/NintendoEntertainmentSystem Famicom]] cartridges. The modifier cartridges that you can use after completing all four jobs resemble adapter cartridges, like Game Genie, both in look and function.
** One of the paper bags has Apu's {{catchphrase}} from ''WesternAnimation/TheSimpsons'' on it-- "Thank You! Come Again!"
** You can find a ''[[Franchise/{{Batman}} Bot-Man]]'' comic book while playing as a clerk.
** In Office Worker, a disc for ''[[VideoGame/FlappyBird Flappy Bot]]'' is on the desk. You can insert the disc into the computer and it plays exactly like the actual game.
** ''This Is: Totally Disco'' Vol. 98 seems to be a parody of ''Music/NowThatsWhatICallMusic''.
* SpockSpeak: Robots often use overly technical wording.
* StandardOfficeSetting: The office re-creation in ''Job Simulator'' looks like an office from the 1980s or 1990s. Motivational posters are everywhere, and everyone works in cubicles with box monitor computers.
* TakeThat: One of the customers will say, "I'm going to go online and write a scathing review of this store, even though I enjoyed it!", poking fun at Internet reviewers.
* TotemPoleTrench: More like Totem Pole Cardboard. During [CONVENIENCE STORE CLERK], you find a suspicious adult bot that [[BlatantLies totally isn't just three more recently manufactured bots stacked on top of each other, adorned with cardboard and drawn on to look like an adult bot]]. "He" asks for fireworks before giving you a fishy ID card that comes up as incorrect, then hands you another one that passes as legit. [=JobBot=] says that the technology doesn't lie, but before you can sell the pyrotechnic devices, their disguise falls apart and they run for it.
* VomitIndiscretionShot: If you eat moldy or rotten food, or drink something not fit for human consumption, you'll projectile vomit. The sound itself is, thankfully, just a guy going "Bwuaaaaagh!".
* WorkInfoTitle: The game has its genre in its title.
